Knee injury under Coyle, rushed back too quickly, clash of personalities told by new manager to lose weight but says he trained well, then general pettiness from Latics. To his credit, he’s not bitter, though.

16 October 2014 at 11:26 pm #134117If the bit about him getting himself fit is true then we’ve possibly shot ourselves in the foot
17 October 2014 at 12:21 am #134123He mite come back if rosler gets the sack
17 October 2014 at 3:01 am #134131It doesn’t sound very nice how someone who’s got two years left on his contract has been treated. I think he should have been given more of a chance this season. I wish him well and hope that he continues to get his career back on track at Huddersfield. Freezing people out seems to have backfired for Mr Rosler.

17 October 2014 at 2:19 pm #134135If you look back to that fans questions with Rosler thing, there was something about Rosler’s demeanor when the Holt subject was broached!
29 December 2014 at 9:56 pm #137440Glad to see he’s back at Wigan……..
injured
29 December 2014 at 10:37 pm #137441The proof will be in the pudding, as the saying goes. It’s easy for Holt to say all that stuff so if he is back with us lets see if he looks fit and if he puts a shift in on the pitch!!
12 months ago Holt did look like a very costly dud.. Let’s hope he proves me wrong.

I don’t think it helps if you call him a pudding ;)
Did you know by the way that in the phrase “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” – proof actually means “test”.
Exactly the same usage as in “the exception proves the rule” which most people think means you have to have an exception that makes the rule right – which is nonsense. The meaning is “the exception tests the rule” – if the rule still holds even for things out of the norm then it is correct.

30 December 2014 at 12:39 am #137444I worry that a month ago we were pinning our hopes on Watson and McCann to save our season. Now, we’re relying on the returning Grant Holt. None of these players are exactly world-beaters are they? Added to the fact that our proven, Cup-winning Premier-league quality players, McManaman and Malloney, haven’t looked interested all season, I’d say that we’re in the sh1te. Keeping Ramis fit, getting Waghorn on the bench, and keeping Huws and Forshaw interested while they learn the ropes are crucial now. I think Mackay can pull it off (assuming he doesn’t get a ban), but we’ll be grinding results out and replacing flair players with grafters in the transfer window, that’s for sure.

With the exception of Fortune and Perch the players have shown very little in the way of graft. It appears to me that they have been trying to get through on their reputation as ‘Premier League’ players and failed miserably.
Hopefully we have turned the corner now, but I fear it is going to be a long hard slog until May.30 December 2014 at 12:02 pm #137450Espinoza is on his way. Interesting quote from him and suggests others will follow.
We are starting to see the shaping of Malkay’s squad. Let’s see who will leave and come in. We are in a transition period…..again.“There’s been a lot of changes going on with the team and managers, and obviously that’s been tough both for me and some other players.
“I decided it was time, I spoke to some of the directors here, they all did their best to help me and I thank them for that.”
31 December 2014 at 3:57 am #137494Looks like he won’t be wearing a Latics shirt for the next 12 months , serious knee injury. It might even finish him from the game

Wow, I had to read that one twice Garswood.. Very correct, but I was being lazy, you obviously got what I meant though :).
Are the rumours that I hear about Holts wages correct, 30k a week? Find that hard to believe, amazed if he is (lucky bugger)

It’s actually £27k a week.
1 January 2015 at 7:08 pm #137608Holt must be one of, if not the worst signing this club has ever made? 1.4m a year in wages for a bloke who has played a handful of games for us.. I suspect Holt will see his contract out til the end as nobody else outside the prem could afford him.
