7 December 2013 at 5:07 pm #124496The home defeat by Swansea followed an extraordinary win at West Brom.
If there was a conspiracy, it would have been simpler to lose at West Brom.
Meanwhile, back in the real world…
Meanwhile, back in the real world – he dropped too many points against the lesser sides in the Prem. It wasn’t down to one game, he had thirty eight others. Pretty football with no cut and thrust; we really suffered in his last two seasons as Manager and yes maybe Whelan thought time for a change because the stubborn sin doctor would not change.
Let’s see how his does against Arsenal tomorrow.
8 December 2013 at 10:03 pm #124545This thread gets funnier by the week. One of the all time great own goals
8 December 2013 at 10:43 pm #124546It takes a big man to admit they were wrong – so go on , one of you Bobsessives must be man enough to accept you’ve got it so so wrong.
All this negativity can’t be good for you -it will probably feel like a huge chip shaped weight being lifted from your shoulders.
8 December 2013 at 11:28 pm #124547Let’s see how his does against Arsenal tomorrow.Another great result today.
Better players = Better team = Better results.
Quite logical really. B)
8 December 2013 at 11:47 pm #124550It was asking too much of Wigan to win at Arsenal just three days after playing in the Cup Final.
This was a much happier occasion for Roberto. Everton even had more possession than Arsenal. And they achieved a draw without either Fellaini or Baines.

And you accuse everyone else of being obsessed!!
Are you Mutty in disguise, you’re as obsessed with Everton and Bob as Mutty is with attendances.
You’ll be checking shot, corner and booking tallies next.9 December 2013 at 12:44 am #124552Let’s see how his does against Arsenal tomorrow.

Okay so it’s better players, better team, better results.
But to put things in true perspective we would have been happy to finish anywhere between 11th & 17th with average players, average team & average results. Didn’t Bobby say that the Premiership was a division of two leagues and we must win our “mini league” against equally equipped teams. And yes he cocked it up !Everton are winning games despite Martinez, with a lot of the traditionally stronger teams getting off to a poor start. Time will tell.
9 December 2013 at 12:54 am #124554Horc, don’t get stroppy with me – it wasn’t me that started this ridiculous thread!
And I don’t wish misfortune on Martinez every week either.
I was at the Emirates in May – and I’d have been happy to be there today too.
I’d like to see a little more entertainment at the DW. I hope things will be looking up from now on.

Horc doesn’t approve of us taking such a close interest in Everton!
But, then, it is your thread.
9 December 2013 at 1:28 am #124557Everton are winning games despite Martinez,Rubbish statement.
One of our best mates and my neighbour opposite are both season ticket holders at Goodison.
I also work with loads of Everton fans.
All of them despite initial reservations at his appointment are delighted with how the team have progressed under Martinez. They all go on about Moyes and his negativity much as Utd fans are at present.
Phil Jagielka stated in his post match interview on Wednesday that the team had improved since the change of manager and the change of tactics.
You may not like it and may find it difficult to accept mate but they won’t finish bottom 4.
I was never Robertos biggest fan when he was with us but I’ll admit now he is a far better manager than I gave him credit for.
Bigger budget and better players like I said mate.

I wasn’t being stroppy I was just passing comment on your obsessiveness with Everton and Bob, and now you have added a further comment to prove my statement.
Hopefully things will buck up now as you say as the last 3-4 years on the whole have been poor to say the least.
Martinez is showing what can be done with decent players and a bit of investment.
The problem I had eventually with him was that he knew he hadn’t got the players needed to play his way, but he wasn’t prepared to change his philosophy of how he thought we should play even though he knew that that style, with the players he had would not keep us up.
There were plenty of games were a subtle change in style during games would have made the difference and just a little less stubbornness from him may just have have kept us up.
We’ll obviously never know and I seriously doubt whether he would have been able to get us back up anyway.
I am hoping Uwe Roslers style isn’t as boring as Bobs, and not as direct as Owen Coyles, something between the two will do for me.
9 December 2013 at 2:44 am #124562This is a Martinez thread started and extended weekly by Lostock. Isn’t he the Bobsessive one?
It was Coyle’s reign that I found difficult to bear. Life with Bob was never boring.
9 December 2013 at 3:14 am #124563So he went to Utd and won. Big fkin deal. If the Barcodes can go to OT and win, anyone can. Whipping boys of the Prem Utd at the mo ;)
And he then goes to the Emirates and draws – wow wee. Not like we never won there is it?
The Evertonians that I know worshipped Moyes just 12 months ago and used to bait me about Bob and Wigan…and are now worshipping Bob, laughing at Moyes and hoping he gets sacked. And what exactly did he do wrong? 4 years of underachievement? No. Relegation? No. No silverware? No.
I have no problem in recognising that Bob has proved that his philosophy – with the right resources – can deliver results. Christ he he gave us s glimpse for 10 or so games. But without the long term resources of the really big teams that will also run out of steam for Everton at some point.
Doesn’t change the fact that he left us in the shit – cup or no cup – and that he was the catalyst for the recent mess we’ve been through. And that’s coming from someone who’s rather enjoying being out of the Prem circus.

Doing something weekly is far less obsessive than doing something hourly.
As for life with Bob never being boring, even your fellow lightsiders might even frown at that one.
9 December 2013 at 4:11 am #124568Nevertheless, I used to look forward to matches when Bob was in charge.
I dreaded them whilst Coyle was here.
