When Everton went up in 1954 Liverpool went down (so avoiding derby games again) until they came up in 62 when Shankly had taken over.

I wouldn’t put money on Belgium they have some of the best players on the planet but are a bit like the Dutch in bottling it like they did against the Welsh. It will be one of the usual suspects who win it.

Let’s be clear, we love Bobby as a club legend and we all knew that he would go onto greater things. However, it is the timing and manner in which ( his own typical phrase )he left the club that has taken some of the shine off his crown. I watched his body language during the Swansea game, when he took us down; and he was lacking any passion or emotion as he stood with arms folded on the edge of his box.

Yes, we have let it go because we now have confidence that Paul Cook is eventually the right type of replacement that was needed. Bobby might have been “uber cool”, but I prefer a visual show of gut busting passion and emotion ( cos it’s harder to fake.

Agree with you about the show of passion thing. My mates dad has been watching Everton since about 1963, and he insists that the best football he has seen in all that time, was from Martinez spell as manager. Poisoned chalice though. Always one eye on how the reds are doing and desperate to compete with them. Allardyce has done a great job, dug them out the more and yet their fans hate him. My mate has dreaded going to games recently. What do they want at all? They don’t know what they want, that’s the problem at Everton.

We should be able to win it vat no doubt but we won’t. Look at what our youngsters have done recently at various age groups but when it comes to the 3 lions we always fail miserably at tournament play. We have never won the Euros which is unbelievable for a nation like England. Even ex pro,s and pundits are saying the quarter finals are probably our limit. We have a complete mental block for some reason in the 2 major competitions. Like you say on our day we can beat anyone but those games are normally friendlies with nothing riding on it. I would love to be proven wrong vat Mon but I cant see it.
