we wouldn’t have signed six players by now; he’d be hanging on until 24 hours before transfer deadline then reeling off a stream of excuses. Well done Owen, for getting your finger out “smartish like”.

Should have added, about Roberto: just like he’s fannying around with the Kone deal. FFS man, get it done, if yer doing it !

There’s an awful lot of people who were desparate to get Roberto out of our club who are still pretty much obsessed with him.

Coyle has done well so far, though I would think it is much easier to sign people on frees in the Championship than buy better players to play in the Premier league.

And what has the speed of the Kone deal got to do with Martinez? All he has done is told Kenwright he wants him, it’s now up to Kenwright, Whelan and the player’s agent to sort out the deal. I wouldn’t think that Martinez will be involved at all, at this stage.

Coyle is doing things his way.

Let’s stop these futile comparisons with Martinez – he doesn’t work here any more.

And a good job he is doing, too.

I was undecided but now Lord Griff has spoken, I’ll support Owen Coyle unconditionally & agree that signing a striker who’s gone 90 games out of 111 without scoring is a great piece of business .

Don’t agree with you WGTB, opinion is about comparisson, in everything we do. Your boss will compare your performance against your peers. You will compare one lager against another, or your ex wife with your new girlfriend, etc, etc. So my friend it is not futile, it is life; it is what you, I and everyone else does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Lostock, no getting away from it, u go on holiday to a good hotel and inevitably compare it to your next one, I didn’t fancy Coyle but I’m fairly happy with most of the business he’s done & with what’s come out his mouth so far .

But that’s not a fact – it’s just something that you’ve made up.

And we haven’t got the choice of Martinez or Coyle as manager, so your comparison is not only false, it’s pointless too.

If you still insist on looking back, Owen has been in this position before – and his record wasn’t very good. That’s why he was available to take on this job.

The delays in transfers were/are f all to do with Martinez. After identifying his targets, it’s Wigan Ath’s and Everton’s Chief Execs (etc) who take over negotiations.

Owens record overall is 41.99 % compared to the loveable Roberto’s 25% , I’m happy to give Coyle a chance on those stats alone, regardless of how impressed I’ve been with his actions so far .

Owen’s our manager now. Said before, he wouldn’t have been my choice but he should now have all of our backing.

Impressed by the signings so far, just praying we hold onto a select few ;)

Blimy, only 4 weeks to kick off and 5 weeks till we return to Wembley :woohoo:

Can’t wait, new season, new challenges.

            Up the Tics…
