It amazes me that some fans are resorting to wind up posts about Martinez when said fans wanted him gone two years prior to our excellent FA CUP winning season
6 July 2013 at 2:23 am #117401Owens record overall is 41.99 % compared to the loveable Roberto’s 25% , I’m happy to give Coyle a chance on those stats alone, regardless of how impressed I’ve been with his actions so far .I’m happy to give Owen a chance too.
But I wouldn’t put any any faith in comparing statistics which cover different situations.

As for RM’s transfer activity he always talked that he had targets identified well in advance, and then it took longer than forever to land any of them. It was just another frustrating aspect of his Managerial reign. Owen has been in the hot seat less than 4 weeks and made six signings. Looks to be a fair comparisson to me.
6 July 2013 at 2:28 pm #117415Looks to be a fair comparisson to me.No, it’s not – making things up isn’t fair!
Besides, Martinez was in a different league to Coyle.
6 July 2013 at 4:06 pm #117422Besides, Martinez was in a different league to Coyle. You’re wasting your time. There are people on here who are clearly too thick to understand that.
Martinez never had to substantially increase the number of Championship players in order to cover the needs of a longer campaign.
Coyle’s activity in the transfer market is, by necessity, a totally different game to the one Martinez had to play in the Premier League. He seems to be making a decent fist of it mind, but a comparison between the two on this subject is, indeed, futile.

Aye, you’re right WGTB; he was in a different league, Cloud Cuckoo League to be precise ! And he’s better off staying there !
6 July 2013 at 6:14 pm #117427I for one am relieved he’s gone as I found everything about him a little frustrating.
His interviews were mind boggling, his substitutions were sometimes strange and seemed to take an age, his transfer dealings were long drawn out and too few and far between, his team selections at times just didn’t add up but most frustrating was his reluctance to try mix things up a bit.
My Everton supporting friends have mixed feelings about him. but will support their new manager as they should.
He’s gone now, and we need to move on and get behind our new manager who appears to be setting out his stall pretty well up to now.
We have a brand new challenge ahead and I’m looking forward to the new season more than I have for a good few years.

7 July 2013 at 2:02 am #117436Last season, back in the Championship with Wanderers, Coyle lasted until 9 October. Here’s hoping he does better this season.
