I’m not too fussed about formations myself Abram and as you say our midfield don’t support at the moment. Whole idea of one up front is for the midfield / wingbacks to get forward & support but we don’t.
Too many defensive minded midfielders on the pitch so something has to change.Mate, grip on it, he will recruit in January, and play how he feels we should. Hopefully that is good enough, but we wont know til then.
We can’t progress with all the Jimmyc’s around saying things need to change, because they will when he can.
Famalam says be patient yo.
Ah, your posts are getting longer jamesc..
Sure there will be some new arrivals & departures come January. But will the philosophy remain the same?? If that departs then we could be onto a winner.
Longer like the cheese in the wind!
I don’t know, the philosophy may also go, but until that time comes, we cannot judge, get meh famalamadingdong!
14 December 2016 at 3:15 pm #153112If Dave Snr were to ring up his old mate SAF and ask/beg him to come and help us out of this mess, does anyone really think SAF would leave 3 strikers on the bench? Not unreasonably, people say give Yootha a chance in the transfer market, perhaps to bring in the so called wonder kids from ManUre (Powell used to be one didn’t he? :P ). A good chef can rustle up a tasty meal from the left overs in the fridge…no different for a footy manager is it?
He once put Ronaldo who was his best player on the bench so who knows.

27 December 2016 at 11:21 pm #1535244-4-2 on paper against the worst team in the league and lost the midfield battle resulting in them being 3-0 up at HT and really should have been 5.
Is it not better to win the lions share of possession, limit them to a few chances and hope our attacking players have their shooting boots on, when presented with chances?.
I and posters like Garswood Latic could see the tactical positives in flooding midfield. That first half performance had me squirming in my seat, it was embarrassing.
Did the second half display simply paper over the cracks? who knows but it was certainly hell of a lot better. Did we play 4-4-2 or did Grigg play in the hole? couldn’t work it out really, I spent more time with my gloved hands over my eyes.
What next? :woohoo:
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!27 December 2016 at 11:58 pm #153529Maybe we may stick with it for a few years JR, who knows but we have lost or not won a lot of other games in the last few years not playing in that formation so was it that that was the problem on Saturday or just a weak midfield and poor defence.
28 December 2016 at 2:25 pm #153536We lost but to a few spawny goals but before Rotherham we scored 6 goals in 12 games and 2 last time our so lets not just dismiss this .
