6 August 2015 at 1:13 pm #143766If Huws, Holt and even Cowie had been fit they would be on the out list and watch out for Barnet, McKay and McCann being on it soon to be replaced with a couple or three who had slid out of Brighton or Rotherham’s reserves or a couple of loanees from Swansea.
I’d take Leon Britton, Angel Rangel or Nathan Dyer on loan from Swansea.
They are all fringe players there now.6 August 2015 at 1:24 pm #143767He’d have been slow enough for this division.
I’m sure I kept getting told last season we needed players who’d fight for the shirt too.
There’s been a lot of bollocks come out of the club mind this last 12 months.
Maybe the club didn’t want to take the risk? Maybe they didn’t want to pay someone hansomly to sit in the stands when we need to slash our wage bill.
I loved Boycie as a player, but there is no sentiment in football/business unfortunately.
And no, I’m not just blindly applauding everything the ckub does, but I’m not just slagging them off either.
To reply to you seriously, my point was I would hope McNaughton and Kirkland were offered a similar deal to the one Boycie turned down, I suppose that stretches to anyone of a similar age to Boyce who we’re signing, who’s obviously done far less for the club.
IMO he was too senior for the “new era” but he like so many others offloaded could have got us off to a good start this season. As it happens we have to hope our completely new squad does something unheard off and gel immediately. Here’s hoping.
I would hope they were as well and I imagine that they were. Kirkland certainly as our 3rd choice.
None of us know how this season will go or how the signings will work out so can’t really predict the outcome, but as fans we have to put our support behind the club and hope for the right result.
6 August 2015 at 1:28 pm #143768I think any of us would but it just wouldn’t be them. Our squad has been put together and down graded for one reason alone and that is cost. Players wages and nothing else. Like that or loathe it, that is the main and underlying reason.
6 August 2015 at 1:29 pm #143770Updated, for some reason Jacobs wasn’t on the list.Cheers SMB.

6 August 2015 at 2:51 pm #143773Boyce now signed for a year at Blackpool.
He’ll get some welcome back I would imagine.
6 August 2015 at 2:59 pm #143774Our squad has been put together and down graded for one reason alone and that is cost. Players wages and nothing else. Like that or loathe it, that is the main and underlying reason.I’ve read somewhere that there were no relegation clauses written into any players contracts issued after June 2013, as the club couldn’t envisage going down again, which may explain why just about every player from the last two seasons has been offloaded.
6 August 2015 at 2:59 pm #143775He will get a muted clap out of respect from me. But no homecoming hero welcome from me. He after all did decide Oystons dollar meant more to him than Latics dollar who with respect have kept Boycey in a fantastic lifestyle for a long time now.

Should imagine a couple more changes by Monday night. Billy will be gone and possibly Barnet Huws McCann and Holt. Heard we are after Rhodes at Blackburn.
27 August 2015 at 4:18 pm #144445If you’re going to do a wind up at least make it half way believable.
27 August 2015 at 9:20 pm #144448Can’t understand the non use of Mckay. If he does go we will desperately need a striker even if it is only back up.
