I’ve just read his Wigan Today article were he’s spoke about his centre half conundrum regarding Goode and Morrison Kerr Watts & Hughes.
He says that Goode and Kerr will make Hughes and Morrison better players !! How??.
Seriously, is he deluded ?, has he seen what’s been happening of late since Goode has been starting ?.And does he think Morrison will learn more not playing and from Goode than he would training at Bayern Munich?.
He brought in Goode just as Kerr got fit plus he had Morrison and Watt therefore making 5 fighting for 2 places hence at least 1 won’t even make the bench.
I’m sorry but this one takes the biscuit. Maloney is clearly off he’s tree. Me you and the gate post would have said we don’t need 5 centre halfs not unless whoever comes in is of a different class which Goode is clearly not.
Fcuk me Maloney you need keep off the ale or meds because you must be on something to say that about Morrison learning off Goode Jesus Christ pal.
Deluded = dangerous and if he carries on mark my fcukin words as I type, if he can’t see the woods for the trees in the next 4 weeks we’ll be in a relegation dog fight once again. Once those floodgates open that’s it, the turd wacks that fan at Warp Factor 7.
If you want my opinion, Hughes needs a rest. He’s had too much too soon and it showing with daft silly errors creeping into his game, errors that weren’t there early on in the season and pre Goode.
Come on Shaun, surely your article was a wind up ?
15 February 2024 at 5:38 pm #202378Yep, he’s clueless.
We’ve a shit manager…again.
Clever appointment though, although wasn’t he a Bahraini appointment? Yep, then Danson kept him on. Why? I’ll tell you. He has history with us. Corner in cup final for the goal, goal v United, etc. All this means a lot of our support will give him extra leaway if results don’t go right. And thats exactly what’s happening. The likes of Deb C etc coming out on Twitter etc and suggesting he should be supported whatever happens…BOLLOCKS. in fact, DOUBLE BOLLOCKS!!!
Might be a clichè, but it IS and always has been, a results business. Not only have results not been good enough, this ‘brand’ of football is, and I think I’m right to sat this, shite. Its not entertaining and at the end of the day that’s what we want. Entertainment.
Goode? A mind boggling signing. We didn’t need Rekik…he went back, we didn’t need Goode. A journeyman centre back? Nah, we needed some steel in midfield.
Maloneys whole thing as a manager is mind boggling. He’s shite…we arent going to progress with him in charge.
I predict a 5k crowd on next Friday night. There was a lot less than the given figure, last Saturday.15 February 2024 at 6:01 pm #202380If anything we needed some hard nosed bully midfielder to boss and gee them up not another centre half.
If Kerr had of still been out I’d have said yeah but 5 ?.
15 February 2024 at 8:01 pm #202381And don’t forget Yawn Maloney came second to Kalamity Kolo before eventually getting the job.
God only knows who if any the other applicants were.
Fuck the EFL
15 February 2024 at 8:05 pm #202382If anything we needed some hard nosed bully midfielder to boss and gee them up not another centre half.
If Kerr had of still been out I’d have said yeah but 5 ?.
Its not about defensive attributes it’s about who is the best at passing sideways and backwards then sprint backwards instead of closing down.
Fuck the EFL
15 February 2024 at 9:00 pm #202383Was this interview before or after the last couple of games. If it was after then what the hell is he thinking. Goode is clearly off the pace whether that’s due to injuries taking their toll or just lack of match fitness but we have started conceding a lot of goals. Morrison is streets ahead and he or Kerr have to start ahead of Goode this weekend.
17 February 2024 at 8:29 am #202387The article was dated Thursday 15th Feb so I’d take it was made “after” the Oxford game which makes it all the more worrying.
We all know he has a difficult task given our position and only just coming out of administration but there was no reason to bring in Goode as we already had 4 possibly 5 (if you count Clare) centre halfs. His loaning out of Stones was his first major fcukup now bringing in and playing Goode has upset the applecart and Hughes is all over the shop.
All’s Goode is doing is getting fit for a summer move as his contracts up at Brentford. Come June he’ll be looking for a free move and I’m sure it wont be us due to our restrictions on wages.
Hes played 20 games in 3.5years and suffered 2 major hamstring injuries and a knee injury so in what I’d say are his learning to prime years playing football between the agesl of 24-28 he’s hardly kicked a ball.
He should have a 100-130 games to his name in those 3.5 years but he’s barley 20 so we’re is he’s experience been gained?. And then to say Morrison Watts will learn from him ?.
Well I hope Maloney’s right and if he is i’ll be the first to put my hand up and says “Sorry I stand corrected” but right now I doubt my arm will be going anywhere.
We’re currently 6 points off the drop. The way were currently leaking goals by the middle of March we could be back in the relegation mix in no time what so ever.
Throw in starting with Magennis up front and Goode at the back I fear for us. Leaking goals and your forward can’t score is a reciepe for disaster.
17 February 2024 at 10:07 am #202389If you also consider that we have let Luke Robinson, James Carragher & Harry McHugh go out on loan; who in my opinion could step up for more first team football and would put in a good shift, because they have something to prove and aim for !!!
If these boys (young men) aren’t ready in SM’s opinion, then they will never break into our team with his “risk averse” strategy. I find it sad that we do not give them any real chance.
So we’ll develop 2 out of every 100 juniors into first team material; give them 12 to 18 months football, then sell on in the hope of a big windfall, then start the process again. Is it worth the effort ?????17 February 2024 at 10:24 am #202390Does Danson or Goodburn ever attend matches? I doubt it, they aren’t football people so wouldn’t know a football from a fencing mask these lot.
Forget the excuses about admin and restrictions the squad of players we have should be doing better in this league, its all down to poor decisions, poor tactics and poor leadership, I fear for the club with the hierarchy and manager we have.
Fuck the EFL
17 February 2024 at 2:21 pm #202391Deluded ?…Don’t know but certainly likes Magennis……starts yet again!!!…Can see a new contract winging his way !!!…Ffs !!!
17 February 2024 at 5:40 pm #202392I chose not to comment upon this topic when started ..and ‘ hindsight ‘ is ‘ accurate ‘ . Shaun has done well for us, I feel .. 1.5 points overall . [ 8 points deductions ] . Michael Danson says ‘ nowt ‘ .. thank fuck for that .. ‘no news ‘ etc etc etc etc .. he hasn’t earned and amassed huge wealth by ‘ spouting off’ . Spoke with a former ‘idol’ at our Club several days ago .. if he is happy/satisfied/content to see stability and a potential brighter future , then so am I !
17 February 2024 at 5:58 pm #202393Well said Italia
Unfortunately half this forum aren’t happy unless we play like prime Brazil
17 February 2024 at 6:45 pm #202394Good management from Maloney. Did the right thing by replacing Goode , nothing against Goode by the way really hope he regains full fitness because its clear there is something not right with him whether it be match fitness or injury. No surprise we keep a clean sheet and hold out for a much needed win. Echo what Italia is saying the Manager has done well in very difficult circumstances. Sometimes we all get frustrated but he is trying to instil a way of playing and ethos throughout the whole club that I am sure will produce dividends ,if we give him time .
18 February 2024 at 5:47 am #202395Was like the Alamo near the end of that game but the lads did well to keep them out.
A major thing for any manager is whether the team gives their all and they certainly did that yesterday.
Onto Cheltenham this Friday and then Bolton and knowing this Latics team we can guess which game they will probably win out of those two.18 February 2024 at 9:36 am #202396A well fought out 3 points against a poor side. Yep, Goode injured but he doesn’t have a good injury record especially over the past 3-4 years e
mainly hamstrings so if it’s his hamstring again we might not see much of him for the remainder of the season. His absence was a forced decision. My only gripe, Magennis, I’m sorry but he’s not dangerous which means we’re totally reliant on others for goals when really he should be chipping in with a few.
The Bolton game will be the 3rd game played on the pitch in 5 days which will make for an interesting game especially when you hell bent on playing tippy tappy and playing it out from the back
