…….. come on folks, it’ll be fine ….. do you remember the days when we wallowed around at the bottom of the table, and with 4 games to go we’d pull all the tricks out of the bag and shock everyone.
BTW …. I have forgotten what the word ‘goal’ means. Can any one help?

1 January 2019 at 11:56 pm #174623Watching Sheffield play today gives us an idea where we need to be.
I don’t think they were at their best but they were a million miles ahead of us and our bumbled efforts.
Still sideways and backwards passing and hoofing up to our pint sized striker. Devoid of any thought and creative play.
A truly Joyce like performance. Sorry that was worse than any manager as churned up for years. Utter shite.2 January 2019 at 12:06 am #174624Gg, just to help you with the goals question, it is one of those things where the opposite team gets the ball in the back of the net, I don’t think we re allowed them at the moment

In short, the squad simply isn’t good enough in depth. So with both Powell, Jacobs and now Massey out again, we’re devoid of flair.
Everyone keeps going on about McManaman starting, but he really is the Emperor’s New Clothes. Our latest Roger Espinoza – who gets better with each game he doesn’t play.
He had nearly a full half yesterday and did very little other than get booked for diving.
When we have our full team fit, we are decent side. But take three or four out – like we have at the moment, and we’re lacking.
Hopefully we can add a couple over the net few weeks, but strap in, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Milions in cash perhaps but even if we were the paupers compared with Sheffield it still doesnt mean we have to play in such a negative manner and play without any creativity. The footbal is down at the Warren Joyce level now.2 January 2019 at 2:16 pm #174694I wouldn’t say we are anywhere near the Warren Joyce level personally.
2 January 2019 at 2:23 pm #174695The issue here is the mindset of the players. Prior to the opening goal we were playing well and competing, then missed a great chance followed soon after by conceding a poor goal. We were still in the game until the second went in and lack of confidence thereafter was visible.
Criticising Cook for his team selection, primarily for not playing certain players, Grigg and McManaman especially, is of course what punters like to do regardless of the fact they have no idea what injuries they may be carrying or how well they are performing in training. Grigg has hardly set the place alight when he’s started and McManaman is a shadow of the player he was when last here. Are they really any better than Vaughan, Garner or Windass.
Cook’s position is certainly under threat not least because he’s not made any real headway in changing the mindset and instilling confidence. Once the rot has set in it’s the most difficult challenge a manager has to face. And the lack of quality players at his disposal, whether that’s down to him or the constraints placed on him by Whelan during the summer, makes his task even more difficult.
I like Cook. I want him to succeed. Whether he will get that opportunity remains to be seen. Changing managers, as we are only too well aware of, is no guarantee things will improve.

Absolutely spot on Sammy.
2 January 2019 at 3:12 pm #174702Grigg doesn’t play because Cook prefers the zip lob long ball hit n hope tactic that doesn’t suit Grigg or MacManaman.
He prefers the older “I’ve worked with him at ……” Type of player.I’m sorry but to blame “mindset” when tatically were inept is nothing more than excuse. He’s filled the squad with players who he thinks are good enough and those who weren’t even given a glimmer of a chance are shipped out as fast as fook or are they players bought in by others ?.
I’ve seen enough recently to see the players have also had a enough so it’s time for a change and others given a chance.
And Sammy, if better service was given to our forwards (width and played in) rather than Peter Kay it up front would you prefer Grigg or Garner on the end of it ?.
Griggs not playing because that’s Cooks preferred option, a league 1 – 2 tactic wack it up there and prey2 January 2019 at 4:50 pm #174707Spot on…..also will posters please refrain from continually citing Powell as the saviour !!!..We all know he is capable but so far this season when he has played he was average to say the least. His career so far is one of “could be”……so far he hasn’t been.
