everton have been sniffing round McCarthy since last transfer window, and this came from a very good source, who also told me something else thats happenend today about everton selling there training ground to raise funds
You’re not serious are you Ace? Selling the training ground? So what are they going to do, book a pitch at the local Soccerdome? ;)
The Everton selling their training ground story wasn’t exactly a scoop. It was confirmed yesterday in the Liverpool papers and websites. Sold to the council for £12, and Everton rent it back off them.
I take it back then Ace, sorry. Having said that, £12m, less the rent, ain’t no war chest, is it?
I agree. It’s also the kind of thing you would only do if you desperately needed cash to pay a debt (probably not the window cleaner, although I’m sure Filmoss could let us know the going rate for a football stadium), or make an investment. Spending it on players would be just stupid.
Of course, the council may have offered them ridiculous good terms to show their own investment in the club that were ‘too good to turn down’. If they’ve done something to aid Liverpool as well then it sounds like vote winner.
Nah, politicians wouldn’t do that, would they?
The council could be giving them a very generously discounted rent, maybe picking up the rates bill themselves, all kinds of ‘incentives’ are possible/probable. Just look at the way some continental teams are funded.
Even so, for a club of their supposed stature, it amounts to little more than coppering up when the window cleaner turns up.
I don’t accept coppers ! I tell them that if it has come to coppering up then they can keep them as they probably need them more than I do ! Any shortfalls are however added to the next clean ! :)

You can stick your fingers in the ears n LA LA LA LA it if you wan’t …he’s still going m8.
Thanks for pointing out what I did at the start of this thread in the fact we will do very well to keep hold of him…
The aim of my previous comment was to highlight nothing has changed since the start of the thread, yes he wants to play in the Premier league and yes he is still in contract with us hence there is a valuation to be met.
In the same way as he was linked with Everton because he was asked a question about them he is now being linked to Crystal Palace after being asked about them.
If there is no set fee in his contract after relegation then I would value him at the £8-10 Million mark which IMO is a fair price for a decent Premier League forward although I have no doubt he would probably go for closer to £6M depending which of the 20 teams in the PL want him.
23 June 2013 at 9:29 pm #116797But who would pay anything like that for a 29 year old and would won’t at least a 3 year contract can’t see him moving on just yet but money talks if anyone is willing to pay that sort of money.
24 June 2013 at 3:32 am #11681924 June 2013 at 3:37 am #116821It might be his intention but that doesn’t mean he can/will.
All paper talk – that last “article” suggests Bob wants him for £5m. Good luck to him, seeing as Kone’s release clause is £6.5m
