I can think of many, past and present, but in this thread I want just one name and why, the current England team has rich pickings, and I’m starting with…….
Wayne Rooney
When I first saw this lad, I thought he could be something special, and that goal against arsenal at 17, to beat seaman from that distance, surely was a sign of undoubted talent, a working class lad playing for his boyhood club whilst still a boy.
Then he signs for utd, and almost overnight becomes a c*nt, well in my opinion anyway, maybe it’s the fact that he went to united from Everton, like gloryhunting on a grand scale, maybe I thought he owed Everton another year, in any case he went down in my estimation, and since then hasn’t done enough to justify the early hype, for me he is s let down, he could have been so much more, but he spends to much time worrying if he’s the top earner, and too much time seemingly complaining when a teammate isn’t as brilliant as Wayne thinks himself, as a pass goes astray or possession is lost before he gets a chance to show his ‘magic’, really annoys me that, when he tosses his arms like a stroppy teenager as welbeck can’t provide that killer pass after running 40 yards past 5 defenders, prick, you’re not so brilliant yourself Wayne, I can’t remember the last time you dribbled past anyone.
Couple the poor attitude with a tendency to lash out when he feels his been hard done by, or not in one incident I’m sure we all know, and you get a player that seems frustrated most of the time, maybe he knows deep down that he hasn’t hit the heights he could have?
For me the most overrated player of the last decade, based on the above plus a reputed £200,000 + weekly wage.
Rooneys not overrated in my eyes but i agree goin to utd was a bad choice he was a direct forward who terrorised defenders then fergie has ruined him. But overrated not quite. I would say scott parker is overrated
At least Beckham backed up some of his hype with crucial strikes v Greece, etc.
Michael Carrick is overrated.
As is Gareth Barry. And possibly Jordan Henderson. Phil Neville had a career on his brothers shirt tails. As did Anton Ferdinand with Rio.
Is Demba Ba anywhere near as good as Drogba? No way.
Scott Parker. Is he that good? Is Raheem Sterling?
ABL,
Are you trying to just ruin the thread, naming everybody you can think of leaving no one for anyone else?
Read the op, and reply accordingly, or stay out of the thread.
Tough to pick just one really but the first one that has popped into my head is JORDAN HENDERSON.
A terrible player who somehow managed to con Liverpool out of a massive transfer fee. You can really see how far they’ve fallen as a club when they’re spending money on this guy.
Good goal today from him granted, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

I can think of another player who conned them even more.
