I would say Jordi Gomez is underrated if anything, by some anyway.

1 April 2013 at 4:09 am #106982jordi gomez is inconsistant some of his criticism is to far at times but if he scores at wembley he will be a hero just another show of the fine lines in footballI think you can still consider a player to be overrated even though he may be a hero for a period of time.
For example, Rodallega was overrated in my opinion but achieved some sort of legendary status with his goal at Stoke.

I would say Jordi Gomez is underrated if anything, by some anyway.I agree with that. goodpost
He lacks a yard or two of pace, but is capable of a defence splitting pass, like yesterday. Technically very skilful, he was superb for Swansea at Championship level. I expect him to shine at Wembley on a big pitch, against Millwall. If he is picked.
1 April 2013 at 6:17 am #107014James Milner, always picked for England, always cack.
1 April 2013 at 7:21 am #107020I’m not going to tar Wilshere with that brush yet, because he’s young and he’s got the potential to be the next Paul scholesThis made me chuckle. Henderson is only 22 about 7 months older than Wilshire. Neither are hardly the finished article. Grnated he wasnt exactly pulling up trees when he first signed for Liverpool but this season he has improved immensley. He allows others to get forward.
Crap players, has to be Agahowler.Jason Scotland has found his true level now.
1 April 2013 at 12:56 pm #107032The most overrated footballer in the last 20 years is Beckham by a mile. All PR and no football….
And don’t get me started on that wife of his. Me old mum keeps saying “have u ever seen her smile?”….
He was the only player in that England side who could pass a ball. TBH I’d have him in our side tomorrow for his passing alone.
1 April 2013 at 1:31 pm #107038Phil Neal utter crap
Jorge smeets not much better1 April 2013 at 1:41 pm #107039In the modern era i have always found rooney, gerrard & lampard over rated. I judge a player on their ability on how they play for their country & for me, these guys, who might be brill against san marino & countries of that ilk, go missing against the bigger countries. I gave gerrard in particular some slack during the early stages of last years euros, but he went missing against italy & tbh, i didnt know he was playing.
Past footballers who i thought was over rated –
Zidane :woohoo:
just never did it for me & i could never understand the hype. Sorry!!
1 April 2013 at 11:05 pm #107142Duncan Ferguson a violent thug in a football shirt with no talent at all.Ask Paul Scharner. :)
Bryan Robson – workmanlike and injury prone.Somehow convinced Bobby Robson that England couldn’t function without him. Then amazingly when he got injured in 2 World Cups England performed significantly better without him.
1 April 2013 at 11:09 pm #107143dunno why your all winging like women if rooney or wilshire score the winning goal in a world cup final be a totally different storyWorld Cup Final – if that happens it’ll be a bloody miracle!! ;)

you never no haha1 April 2013 at 11:22 pm #107149It depends on who was rating them in the first place I guess ! Once over according to the media and most of the football pundits Rooney was destined to be the best footballer in the World and was even compared with Messi !!!! I have always thought him a decent player but not in any way World class and so therefore in my opinion Rooney is/was very much overrated ! Valencia in my opinion is/was overrated as well. He did indeed look the business for us but since his move he has gone shite ( Perhaps we had the old rose tinted jobs on when he was our player ! ) ;)
