Relegation would see us more competitive and get me out the house 4 more times and have that good feeling on a Saturday night more often.
I am honestly now bored with losing and would like to watch something different, I know there’s no guarantee and we could well free fall. However think I say this every year then we beat utd and I say that one game makes the other 18 shite worth it.

I just wish some fans would get a sense of reality into their lives.
When the going gets tough the soft shytes moan like fek. They will be the same fans who go missing at the end of the season if we stay up once again.
It’s the easiest thing in the world to support a winning team but not quite as easy to support a struggling one. That’s what makes this game of football the best and most followed sport in the universe. It’s also what sorts out the proper fans from the fickle ones. From Matlock to ManU

the battle is not over and other clubs seem to have had a some good runs but Wigan so far haven’t.We seem to have an uncanny knack of getting into the groove at precisely the right time e with our current manager and I think you will find after this result with City clubs will take you very seriously and results may be just that bit harder to come by from now on.
I seem to remember Blackburn sneaked six points clear last season then just fell away as they all thought they were safe on 28 points.
Another factor in this turgid league is that once clubs hit around 30 points at this state they start to coast so even some of those clubs can get dragged into it.
Saints are a fairly big club as they should be in what is basically a non football part of the country so they should stay up but expect a trickier ride from here on in!Agree with this – think Saints have benefitted from teams not really showing up against us and there’s no doubt that the high pressure game has it’s own risks which will be exposed at some point. From my perspective it’s nice to see but still very early days and don’t think many saints fans would consider us out of the scrap just yet. I was just commenting on whether relegation is such a bad thing though and I don’t really think it is – financially of course it is but I’d rather look at a league table than a balance sheet and besides it’s not as if the riches of the prem filter down to the fans.
Sure chairmen, players, managers, pundits etc can bang on about the importance of being and staying in the top division but for fans of “smaller” clubs I think that we get more entertainment, value for money and enjoyment from the lower leagues.
there is the other crucial factor which is that of the no hoping underdog which we have played out wonderfully since Martinez arrived.That is why saints and Reading have nicked points because nobody gave them a prayer however that mantle has now shifted to QPR and Wigan so where as we have been hit with more respect this term as to some extent have QPR that should start to wane a bit now and I think results will start to improve a bit from now on.This always happens Because the league is so poor that most teams pack up when they hit 30 odd points particularly the bottom half of the table.
We are also statistically due a win and I feel we will kick start the season at Reading as they will be favourites and they wil be expected to record a Home win.

Give up is the best option Lowey.
Personally I’m not so sure dropping down a league will make much difference. You’ve only got to look at our results against lower opposition over the years Bob has been in charge and it aint good. Until Bob changes his style of footy to a more positive way then we won’t score many goals in any game.Do I want us to be relegated? No

I agree with you though I dont think we will as we are now backs to the wall and usually come out fighting when we are deep in the sh/t like now.

glass half full!When we were in the Third Division (whatever it was called then) I remember distinctly hoping that we could establish ourselves as an established Division Two team, with maybe the odd foray into the top division.
We have more than accomplished that.
Once more – let me be clear – I do not WANT us to be relegated. Surely no real fan wants to see their team viewed as failing. But if we do I will still be getting a solid 8 hours sleep at night.

Make that 4 of us goodpost . I’ll still be travelling over from Ireland no matter what division we are in. My first game was a 2-1 win (haworth, liddel) against Northampton (2000) and I had the same feel good factor that Saturday night as I had when I saw us beat Stoke 2-0 last season. Anyone remember that Northampton game? I actually brought my missus to it, about 5,000 attendance and game was held up for aboout 10 mins (Northampton fans had some argy bargy with the stewards), and a cracking winner from Andy Liddel.
