TyldesleyLatic you wrote “We don’t buy ready-made Premier League stars because we can’t afford them, and/or they won’t play for Wigan”

      “Not true.
Off the top of my head, in 5 premeir league seasons we have signed the following players who have been “ready made” for this division & didn’t need time to settle in:
Chimbonda, De Zeeuw, Camara, Heskey, Cattermole, Palacios, Scharner, Kirkland, N’Zogbia, Bramble, Boyce, Melchiot, Pollitt – am sure given the time or the inclination I could name many more (& no doubt others (Valencia, Rodallega etc..) who needed a bit of time to settle in.”

I would be the first to agree with you about Martinez not having brought in enough experienced players, however have had a look at the players you mentioned above. The highest number of them signed in the same season was 4 in 2006, when Jewell signed Kirkland, Scharner, Boyce and Heskey, despite these quality signings the club finished 17th staying up on last game of season by winning at Sheffield, so am not sure at all about them not needing time to settle in.

Seriously, you can’t really be that thick.

Do you honestly not understand what I’ve posted, and do you usually have to whistle so you know which end needs wiping?

I relayed all of this to my three year old son earlier and he nodded in agreement. As soon as my month old boy can speak, I’ll send him round to explain it to you.

I think Callmeishmael is the only person I have ever known that could fail to grasp what you are saying and doesn’t see that you are right and he is wrong.

                Sons James.

Seriously, I know I might of offended the pro Martinez brigade, but I am entitled to an opinion. I really do hope Martinez proves me wrong, and admire his strength of belief/stubbornness.

                Standish,
Is it not Dyslexia when you see words that aren’t there? IE. ESTABLISHED?

You still cant claim that signing chimbonda etc etc makes for star signings or whatever you said.

So signing a player for approx £500,000 , fits straight into the team becoming a firm fan favourite, chips in with 2 goals, gets into the PFA team of the year, and is sold for a £5m profit. That doesnt count for a star signing in your book?
