How obvious was it though? Do they think we are all thick, or what?

We’ll not sign anyone. Useless gets.

Martinez out. There, I’ve said it. All the other relegation threatened/ ‘in the mix’ clubs are looking at getting players in. Look at Stoke, offering 6.5 million for Mark Noble. I don’t think they’ll get him, but it’s a bit of ambition at least.

To be honest, I’m shocked I’ve been proved right so quickly. I expected a deadline day interview with Martinez pulling a few fake frowns, and saying he was frustrated….but at least we have those three back.

I’m sick of this kind of thing. Is nobody else? We’ve been playing at this premiership thing for the last 3 or 4 years. No ambition, no strengthening.

I posted a response to this earlier today, but my connection crashed and obviously it didn’t post.

Anyway, this post has brought the topic round full circle. The clear message is that the club is broke. They need to sell to survive, and they need to sell to buy. There isn’t a lack of ambition, just a lack of cash.

So, why ‘Martinez out’ on this basis? He hasn’t decided that he’s not going to sign anyone this January. Given the choice, I’m sure he’d love to sign another full squad. He’s merely singing the company song.

The three players mentioned, if they were new players coming in, would be great additions. So I really can’t understand what the problem is in saying so?

Okay then, let’s get rid of Martinez. Who, other than a lower league manager looking to give the Premier League a go (isn’t that what we did 18 months ago?), is going to come to a club with no money to spend on players, and work for Whelan – that renowned epitome of generosity in the world of pay and rewards?

Or, as Bicky would love, get Whelan to leave. I can almost picture Sky Sports News camped out on the DW car park, filming the convoys of Middle Eastern oil billionaires queuing from the roundabout at the Red Robin so they can get their bids in.

    Your spelling of dissap… disappp… disapo…is disssap… ah, f@@@ it.

You think I’m not intelligent? You think I don’t know the things that are preventing this club from winning the Premier League? You think I’m bothered?

I think you have mental health issues, Dave?

Fair play to LMB, Bickymon, Mightyaff, etc. I may not always agree with them, but they don’t change their minds more often than their underwear, unlike some.

If you dont like what’s happening, just dissappp… disapier… dont go tomorrow. You can add to your “missed 7 games in 25 years” record.

I often stick up for you Dave.. you dont help yourself, though

Aye, that’s what Friday night at an old folks home watching a Y1 nativity play followed by a couple of gins and a bottle of Chablis does for you.

I regret the mental health jibe a bit, but I stand by the rest. Especially the apawling speling.

Actually, I’m grateful that Dave – with only missing 7 games in 25 years has clearly taken away my thoroughly undeserved Superfan tag.

      See you in’t Brick?

Can somebody please explain to me how missing just 7 games in 25 years makes your opinion more valid than any other fan?

Bluenylon – you could join in the banter too, if only anyone had a clue what you were talking about.

VAT, a loyal fan? He’s done nothing but slag the club off all the time I’ve known him. Not saying he’s wrong, but calling him loyal is like calling Sephton mature

                      Griff,

In all honesty, I’m more loyal than around 90% of our home attendance today. How do I work that out?

Well pre 1995, we were shi*. No, let’s face it, we were. I had already endured the relegation season of 1993, when we were confirmed relegated with a home defeat to Plymouth Argyle, the week after a 5-1 hammering at promotion chasing West Brom. I was there at the Hawthorns, along with about another 50 latics fans.
But I stayed loyal. Steven Gage was the chairman, Kenny Swain came in as boss. I looked forward to the new challenge of the bottom tier. ‘Perhaps it won’t be so bad?’ I told myself. But it went from bad to worse. Attendances were lower than 2,000, and the club was dying on it’s crack. We got shut of Swain, and Graham Barrow came in, taking charge of a bunch of has-beens and never-will-be’s. I was at Villa, when we got done 5-0 in the League Cup. I realised that night how far from the Premiership we were……
I could go on, but I think you get my drift. There have been many times in the 25 years where I COULD have walked away. Support someone else? No, I wouldn’t bother. The amazing thing is, I have been closer to it these past 5 years, than in ANY of those days when we really WERE poor.

Why is that? I’m not sure, the fact that we did well in our first season, consolidated well, but never built on it? The fact that we seem to lack ambition to progress? The fact that each year we’ve gone worse.

No, I’m not claiming to be a ‘superfan’ I’m not. I do not live, eat, and breathe Wigan Athletic. I have never let myself get that enthralled, nor would I want to. I have never gone home and away every week. I’ve done about 70 grounds around the country, and I’m happy with that.

If telling it like I see it, and genuinely believe is wrong, then I am guilty as charged. I think we are god awfully poor, and yes, I think we will go down, and even be lucky to pick up 30 points. (I just look at the fixtures coming up and just can’t see where the points that would keep us up will come from. Honestly)

Oh and, Griff, granted, my spelling of Disappointing, was in fact, dissappointing, was it not? (see what I did there?)

MIGHTY AFF- Still using the same ‘war comments’ as ever, eh? You ARE the ‘Stan Boardman’ of Cockney Latic. Did the Germans bomb YOUR Pie Shop?

Lets nail this here. I mentioned once, in the annals of time, jokingly, that I had been in ‘Special Forces’ in the Falklands. This was a throw away remark, based on the comment of the character ‘Max’ in Peter Kay’s comedy series ‘Max And Paddy-The Road To Nowhere’. In it, he had claimed to have been in “Special forces in The Yemen”,as a a way to impress Paddy.

Can’t believe it was taken as gospel, considering I was about SIX when the Falklands happened. And yes, it’s still being dragged out now….

                      Change the record.
