Can’t believe you are having a go at Leam Richardson. We should thank our lucky stars we have got him. Bigger clubs than Wigan Athletic would love to be in our position ,he has done and is doing a brilliant job. It was disappointing last night but the priority has to be the league. Through no fault of our own we are about three games behind everyone else ,we have had no help from the EFL and it does not take a rocket scientist to see that some of our first team squad needed a rest. I think we will be well up for it on Saturday .

Priority has to be the League ?, I get that throughout all the rounds but at the semi stage ?.

I bet you fcukin said that in 2013

Some of those players have missed out on probably their only chance in their careers to play at Wembley.

At semi stage play your strongest and fcuk everything else planning for the future ? Fcuk that, live for the day.
Planning for the future means you take your eye off the prize. As a fan I want us to do well in everything.

I still remember Millwall well one of the best days in the clubs history.

Can I remember were we finished?, can I fuck

So explain after 8 games since being signed he still was starting Magennis in front of Humphreys when Humphreys had hit 4 goals…. twice after not starting?.And such an obvious gulf in quality between them…Surely no one can say he has contributed anything and doesn’t ever win our humps forward or ever look like netting…..and still he got the nod…Then we have Massey.really ?…still gets game time when apart from Rotherham away has been shocking. ..No one is going over the top in criticism for Richardson……he has done brilliantly well but his loyalty to players sometimes clouds his judgment. Couldn’t give a toss some supporters comments about being out the final is a good thing….load of tosh…how many children who too young to go Wembley 2013 would have remembered it for years and probably become a regular supporter ??. I for one wouldhave taken 4……as previous posts it would have created a real buzz of achievement that certainly the players would have embraced….but our performance last night or lack of against a very beatable side was pedestrian….hope we can bounce back. I for one think MK are under pressure more than us cos they have to win……so I think if we avoid putting lamppost anywhere near pitch we will get a result.

Saturday will be very very hard against a side who are bang in form with some excellent young lads.
We start with Magennis Richardson needs drugs testing for hallucinogenic drugs because he’s seeing something in him no other Wiganer can see.
The January window was as poor as it gets.

2013 was slightly different we were in the FA Cup final and I would not swap that for anything but this is the Papa Johns Trophy, now if ever there was a Micky Mouse Cup this would be it.It has been totally devalued by having the Premier League under 21 teams in it and I am sorry but it means absolutely nothing for a club like ours to win it ,it needs a total re vamp.Let’s face it we had 6,500 on for a semi final with the tickets at a fiver ,that tells you everything you need to know.

It’s a night match…..lot of kids could not go….still 6500 not too bad. Cup winners bang on….Winning this cup against Millwall was up there as one of my best Wigan days and memories…..yes the u21s shouldn’t be in it but we’d got through 7 games to reach this stage then to spend 75 minutes of the 90 passing the ball around with absolutely no end result was criminal. Our performance was confirmed by the stats 78% possession and they had double the efforts on goal. Jones ricket for their goal seems to be overlooked….Massey,Magennis stealing a wage……Kerr and Watts were poor slower than me……Bayliss needs return to knob end ASAP….and Darikwa is no captain fantastic . So yes our best 11 has ground league results out certainly we have a good fitness level…but dip onto the benchand we immediately weaken our performance…Why we play so pedestrian is beyond me. The elephant in the room is the man up top who never, ever keeps hold and back come the opposition……truly a poor signing. I’d have started Sze before him…..I’m sure win or lose he’d have done better.

6,500 for a Cup semi final with tickets at a fiver each is terrible. But this is the Papa Johns where Premier League clubs can play their kids to give them experience but the league clubs have to field a certain number of first teamers ,why ? I have great memories from both the Millwall and Brentford finals ,that was when it was a proper Cup competition between the third and fourth tier clubs. I would sooner them allow the top non league clubs in it. Sorry but I really don’t think the club took it too seriously .It meant a lot more to Sutton and good luck to them in the final.

The defeat isn’t the big problem it was the ars numbing ,boring tippy, tippy dross we served up.There was an aloof arrogance about it .Yes ,Sutton deserved it purely because they went for it and played their normal style. At least it showed how many of our Fringe players are barely league 1 standard.

We have a manager who kept us up last season against all the odds.

We have a manager who if the season ended right now on points per game would be League One champions.

Yet we still have clowns who doubt and question and moan about every decision he makes. They expect every signing to be like Messi. They expect every performance to be 4-0 or it’s just not good enough.

I was as frustrated as anyone on Tuesday and I also don’t think Magennis has offered us anything….yet.

We have won 5 and drawn 1 (away at Rotherham) of our last 7 league gamesso our own form isn’t too shabby itself as we take on MK.

Leam is a legend of this club already and I suspect there is more to come yet.

I agree ….just wish he would have started Lang,Humphreys or Keane instead of the lump.and hopefully put game to bed…then removed them. Don’t buy into this de valuing the competition. Rotherham have Lapado injured but didn’t stop them starting Michael Smith the clubs top scorer who played full 90 and netted both goals. Great opportunity to raise our hammered profile wasted without a wimper.

Rotherham into the final on pens to interrupt their season in the final run in.
They didn’t play well last night and I reckon they are having a wobble as well at the moment so the top of the table is up for grabs and in our hands.
Take it as a blessing in disguise , no interruptions and no sulky players who wanted and failed to play at Wembley in a pointless final that most clubs treat as training exercise.
The FA cup final victory was worth the relegation without a doubt, was that meaningless trophy worthy of failure in the league ?
I do not think it was in any way shape or form.
Have a clear run in now with no interruptions and no risk of petulant players sulking because they didn’t get chosen for the final.
Face it , we are a far bigger club than 20 years ago and need to be in the championship to progress.
Get behind Leam and the lads and I am sure we will be celebrating at the end of April.

Rotherham made eight changes last night and just got through on penalties. If we had got through on pens I take it you would have been happy. Instead of playing Magennis I would have played Sze ,other than that we had a strong team out. Lang has looked knackered the last few games and badly needed a rest ,Humphries still suffering from that bang on his head and both were rightly rested. Keane has only just come back from injury and his inclusion on the bench was again,in my opinion ,correct. We could argue all day the merits of the Papa Johns Trophy but for me the league takes priority all day long. Let’s get right behind the lads for the run in.

Pointless trophy ? was you there 1985 or in 1999 ?, I dont remember those who went then saying “This is pointless” and I don’t remember were we finished in the League those years. That’s the problem with some Latics fans its not big enough winning the EFL Trophy no more they’ve been spoilt.

I watched a Rotherham side take their semi final deadly serious fielding a very strong side (barring injuries) for a long trip up north. Rotherham have only 1 fit forward in Smith so what does Warne do ?, he plays him for the full 90 and he he repays him by scoring twice which in turn helps them through to a Wembley final.

Warne talked after the match about how important the win was to the club getting to the Final for the players and their families , the club, the fans and they would be looking forward to a very special day out, a day they’ll never forget. Some of these players might never get the chance to play at Wembley and you call it a “pointless final” sore loser statement that pal. to you it might be a worthless trophy but its not to the players of Sutton and Rotherham and the main thing for me all kids and memories, a day they will never forget and hopefully cement them as a future supporter.

They then interviewed the Rotherham keeper and Smith who were both over the moon having the chance to play at Wembley in a Final. Richardson chose not to include certain players so they can rest and that’s fine that was his decision, in the end he got it wrong, Warne didn’t. As a manager Warne gambled and it duly paid of.

                              The differences there is ,
Richardson is coach and a good one but Warne’s is a manager making key decisions and getting them right when it counts. We started with a guy up front who is simply not good enough but Richardson insist he plays most weeks. How many other managers would persist the way we have with a guy who turns our side into 10 men ? not many.

I’ve a feeling any good manager would drop him for sure. Had Lang and Humphrys been on the bench Tuesday I’m sure with 20 to go them coming on would have won that game. Lets say we had of gone 2 goals up then simply don’t use them but to not include them in the squad in a semi final ? that’s the decision of an coach not a manager.

Never forget, the greatest day in this club history was in cups not winning a League titles. Some of my greatest memories are cup games going back to Chelsea away, Leeds, Coventry, Liverpool, Everton, and the wins Brentford, Millwall last minute job even Norwich at home when they were top of the old League One and of course City.
I remember Jewell saying some time after the Carling final back in 2006 that he picked the wrong side and he regrets it to this day and I feel Richardson has done the same.
I was fully onboard with Richardson not fielding first teamers throughout the cup but this was a semi final 90 minutes from Wembley and even better, no extra half hour.

Me?, he got it wrong, oh so wrong and that’s my concern. He has the players to have won the EFL Trophy and to get promoted but he doesn’t seem to make those crucial decisions when needed, Coach yes, manager no.
Remember Warren Joyce ?, good coach sh*t manager. He’s now at Forest U18 and doing well with the kids but as a manager was utter clueless.

Rotherham made 8 changes from when ?, last game ? 3 games back ?. Rotherham ended the game with a large chunk of the team that lined up against us in our away game barring a couple of injuries so to paint a picture they made loads of changes and scrapped through is wrong, the fact is they wanted to go through or Smith would have been at home along with Barlasser (and a few more) sharing a onesie Horlicks in hand.
