They’ll be dancing in the streets of Las Vagas tonight
1 November 2013 at 2:22 am #123013Why not issue a response to my post Mutty? (The one where I’ve explained why)Err….Because a response wasnt required. You explained why in your view nobody in Wigan was good enough to play top level football, and why no local lad has come through the youth set up for well over a decade.
Personally, I find it shocking that whoever is responsible for scouting and youth development in Wigan has failed to unearth a single gem. What with it being such a footballing hotbed.
1 November 2013 at 4:23 am #123022Your not going to believe this honestly your not we seem in geographic sense to be surrounded not only by the richest club in the world honest but also by far the most successful club and biggest in the world also a few miles away we have the former five times European champions and Everton :) add to that numerous other professional clubs who have been around for a between at a higher level 60 to 100 years more than latics (I know it’s criminal int it) for ateam that turned profesional in 1978 formed in 1932 I don’t think were doing bad I know it aggravates various folk in the town not only turncoats like yaself Ya see clubs with vast experiance do well especially if they have Vat resources of oil sheiks then again you could get a rich owner and have 5 managers in six years like your beloved Sunderland who you have dedicated your lifetime too
Anywho the question still arises which you have failed to answer why is there little appatite for the RLWC in Wiggin town center

What a truly woeful response.Either you’re being deliberately evasive to suit your agenda, or you really are parochial.
Wigan is a small town in a big football world. As soon as a young Wigan lad shows any promise, every club in the local area and beyond will be vying to sign them up.
For instance, at the kids’ Saturday morning football school I take my son to, half a dozen children between the ages of 4 and 6 years old have already been signed up by the likes of Man City and Liverpool.
Unfortunately Wigan can’t compete when a big club comes along with the promise of top class coaching and first grade facilities, so they’re left to pick up players that are rejected by the bigger clubs (as was the case with McManaman and Baines).
And that’s why the development of the Wigan Athletic academy training facility is in the pipeline.
In Rugby League you haven’t got that problem as there’s less competition for young players. If he’s from Wigan, he signs for Wigan.
Nobody’s ever claimed Wigan to be a hotbed of football except you. It’s merely a football town amongst all the many other football towns and cities in Britain.
But please, tell me your reasons for the lack of Wigan lads playing for Wigan.

3 November 2013 at 2:19 pm #123124And I note that even though there was a full house at Huddersfield, enough travelling fans made it across to the DW to make it a 16,000+ crowd.
35 – please tell me how that compares to the last time Huddersfield played at the DW?
3 November 2013 at 2:56 pm #123125I’m really glad that mutty doesn’t have an obsession with attendances. If he had he would just look like a boring repetitive twat. But he says he doesn’t so he mustn’t be.

That’s just not true I’m afraid – France has a very long history of playing rugby league down in the South West. Catalan XIII, Perpignan, Toulouse etc were playing long before Super League invented Catalan Dragons, and France were regular opponents of Great Britain.

Hardly surprising he got it wrong – the bloke cant even answer questions correctly on his chosen sport that he’s followed for 35 years. What chance has he of getting a rugby fact right?
