4 November 2013 at 10:22 pm #123160As it been cancelled this World Cup tis all gone quiet :S :S :S
According to the local radio its…..”The biggest global event of the year”!
Tha knows. :ohmy:4 November 2013 at 10:55 pm #123161As it been cancelled this World Cup tis all gone quiet :S :S :SYou’ve certainly gone very quiet when it comes to answering simple questions:
35 – please tell me how that compares to the last time Huddersfield played at the DW?5 November 2013 at 4:39 pm #123198Are you serious you want to turn it round to attendances again for a man who dosn’t have an obsession with attendances your getting a wee bit paranoid I applaud those Terrier fans who made it across the pennines obviously no interest in the RLWC also they filled more than half of the away end something the Giants fail to do consistently being less than 50 miles away

Okay, I’ll bite again as I know where you’re going with this…The last time Huddersfield played at Wigan was in December 2002/2003 season, and the attendance was 6,000 – which is 10,000 less than it was last Saturday.
That season, played in the third tier of English football, Wigan Athletic’s average home attendance was 7,600.Wigan Rugby League on the other hand – playing in the top tier of British Rugby League and winning the Challenge Cup – had an average home attendance of 9,700.
During that season there were 7k attendances against the likes of Wakefield, Halifax, London and Hull. Not a massive difference is it?

will you ban that fukwit mutty all he does is annoy folk on this site not even a latics fan
get rid and i dont expect egg to do it , this site has gone down hill needs sorting
up the latics get rid of the scum :evil:6 November 2013 at 2:47 pm #123218also they filled more than half of the away end something the Giants fail to do consistently being less than 50 miles away….Which makes the 19,000+ crowd on 9 Aug for the visit of Huddersfield to Wigan all the more impressive.
6 November 2013 at 3:48 pm #123219Indeed it does although the heavy discount given to heinz workers and the free tickets helped to push that figure up to 19000 as you have managed to swing it round to attendances again (which you have previously stated does not concern you ) Maybe you would like to give the forum the previous 4 years of attendances for fixtures for games againat the mighty Giants if you choose not to I’m sure eggmon will

If you don’t want to talk about rugby then staying away from rugby threads is probably the way to do it ;)
6 November 2013 at 7:51 pm #123230well well well normal service is resumed three close matches for the RLWC after a false dawnIngerland 42 weve picked a team of misfits,ex ausssies 0
The winners 42 the mighty figi 2
Runners up 48 weve just started playing rl 5 years ago (France) 0
The Australia result was 34-2 ;)
On Sunday we had Scotland 30 Italy 30 and Wales 16 USA 24.
Last night we had Tonga 22 Cook Islands 16.
You’ll get the odd blowout score now and again but there have been a lot more enjoyable games in this tournament than I thought there’d be.
7 November 2013 at 1:07 pm #123254apologies egg taken from $ky sports center thingy blame them men
14 November 2013 at 12:49 am #12342914 November 2013 at 1:15 pm #123439Eggmon does this not show that Rugby League if it is to grow should be shown on council telly rather accepting a token effort from $ky compared to other sports namely the code that warriors fans shall not be spoken
the other code last time on council telly add a far bigger viewing figure for their game against Wales I believe in the region of six million
14 November 2013 at 2:43 pm #123440We definitely need some of the more bigger games of the season to be shown on the BBC or ITV but the marketing of them is pretty poor TBH. The 6 Nations is usually advertised from around December time and doesn’t start until February whereas the Challenge Cup is rarely advertised and when it is it’s more of a lip service style advert than a passionate one.
IF England get to the final then I would hope/expect/demand that the beeb advertised the fact day in and day out for the whole week between its biggest watched programs. Quite a few people will watch the game because it is England in a World Cup final. A guy in my street for example put a Union flag up in his front window the morning of the 2003 RU World Cup and AFAIK has never watched a game of Union in his life. National pride always takes over in instances like that I think.
I’d also like to see the Super League show shown at a decent hour nationwide as opposed to silly o’clock in the morning. We can’t expect people to know about something that isn’t advertised and is then on at 3am. What are the chances of them ‘stumbling across it’ at that time and being hooked?
Obviously most on here will disagree and I even I question it at times with some teams/games/results but I believe that a top quality game of RL such as Wigan v Saints/Leeds/Wire will beat any other sport for entertainment value. Those matches have everything from passion, intensity and skill to the odd bit of biff. It needs to be shown to the biggest audience possible because most genuine sports fans who don’t have an instant hatred to it like Latics fans do will find it entertaining IMHO. Yes some won’t have a clue what is happening but that will come with time. The first task is to get them watching and wanting more.
