70 quid for a kids ticket works out at 3 quid a game. Am I missing something? Can someone show me where other clubs are charging less? Similarly. How many clubs charge less than 270?

How else can the club raise funds if fans are that tight they won’t pay to watch a club that has been brilliant value to watch over the last 10-15 years (we’ve had two shite seasons in that time granted). Can’t think of many activities you can take a family of four to for 35 quid? Even cinema isn’t far off these days. Save your 800 quid and get on WISH FM ya tight gets!

Might just do that. Going off the increasing empty seats last season, a fair few already have.

And that’s the thing. I could understand it if there was a stampede for tickets, but there isn’t and won’t be. I think the club have dropped a massive bollock here and haven’t thought about this enough. There’s not enough foresight gone into it…the ticket plan gas probably been put together by a rugby fan working for the ticket office. This separate entity thing from the football club itself is the problem again. There’s nothing amazing to entice your family of 4….a family ticket offer. It’s just a basic ticket price list. Nothing to ‘grab’ that family and entice them in really. The south stand is shocking.

A flat offer of a family ticket “4 for £500” would’ve been snapped up.

All said, chances are I WILL renew. But it won’t be straight away, it’ll be 1st of August just before the season.

£70 is a brilliant price, but by offering free tickets in the South Stand, the take-up will be minimal, so what’s the point?

Quickly turning in to a thread of moaning for mornings sake.
Actually laughed out loud at the comment about the reasons for not wanting to sit in the south. Move seats? It’s hardly rammed!

A family of 4 (from my football team)started going to matches last year and for reasons unbeknown to me enjoyed it and wanted season tickets. I sent them the link yesterday and they genuinely thought there was a catch. They’re happy to go in the south at £500 for the 4.
Another bloke I know won a season ticket last year sat with us in the south. His lad who didn’t go the night matches saw Latics score 2 goals until Barrow took over. He’s hooked now and paying for one on the south. (His dad was a regular at Everton)

Just mentioning these as it’s not all doom and gloom out there. Everyone has choices at these prices, not a lot to moan about, apart from the crap football.

You’ve not read my comments properly, just seen what you have wanted to see.

South stand is crap. Full stop.

But very often people with kids go with their friends, others in the family. They know the people round them.

Are you seriously suggesting that the whole group and family should move because of one kid?

It’s not moaning for moaning’s sake. It’s not about the fact that it’s £69. It’s just that there’s this cliff-edge of £69 or free. It’s not fair. If you’re giving some free (or at reduced prices for second and subsequent kids) then it seems poorly thought out to charge others £69.

To you it may not seem much – but there is a family behind me with three kids – that’s £207, compared to an equivalent family in the South Stand who would pay £46 if there were only one adult, and free if there are three adults. That really to me does not seem fair.

£69 that’s £9 a game for 3 kids pay it direct debit if you can’t afford it all at once

I’m fine with the price increase for adults. Last season was a one-off (whoever heard of a club reducing season ticket prices after promotion eh?)

But, I don’t agree with the kids’ prices.

We have a small fanbase, and even in our own town we are competing with Man U, Liverpool, Wigan RL etc.

At 9-12 years most kids are forming loyalties towards football teams. Capture them at that age and you capture them for life. Fail to capture them now, and they’ll be wearing United shirts at The Black Bull in front of Al Jazeera Sports on Saturday afternoons in a few years.

The club should be doing everything to capture those kids.

By all means put the adult prices up in the West and East, but offer free tickets for all kids under 12 in every stand, and if you want to create something in the South Stand, heavily discount the adult tickets in that stand.

I’ll be getting my lad (and possibly his mate) a season ticket in the West Stand. I’d prefer not to pay £69 a ticket, but he’s hooked, and in the South Stand he wouldn’t get to sit near the benches, or to run down to the tunnel at the end or annoy people like Griff and Sammy at half time.

So I totally understand what GL and some of what Vat are saying (apart from the bit about waiting to see who comes in. I’ll be there no matter what).

I think it’s people who don’t have kids who aren’t seeing the problem, standish.

Another thing is, I can see.there being a lot of midweek games and forking out on kids season tickets when they will probably miss a few games is one of my problems with it.

The adult prices are FINE, I’ve no problem with £300. But I am not being cajoled into.the south stand due to the reasons I’ve said, mainly my dad’s eyesight…he struggled to watch ‘down pitch’ last season.

It would be good if someone put it to the club about extending the kid goes free, or a lot cheaper deal, to ALL stands.

Let’s capture those kids again. Only about 4 years ago, we had the biggest percentage of.young supporters to home fans ratio in the country. We’ve lost a lot of that. My youngest, 8, is going on about United more and more and his school have already tried to entice him to rugby league…free warriors tickets and coaching sessions etc. Flip! I don’t want that to happen!!!!

What I would like for my season ticket deal: adults? Not a problem. £300 is very good. We want to sit top of East Stand, maybe ES5 or 6, 2 adults and 2 kids. I’d be happy paying up to £700 for all of us. But anymore is too much.

If someone can mention the ALL stands kids idea to the club……[/quote]

Why do you want to sit at the top of the East Stand if your dad’s eyesight is so bad? Why not sit a bit closer?

                #159188
£69 that’s £9 a game for 3 kids pay it direct debit if you can’t afford it all at once

That’s in the South Stand, £23 each – or in fact one per adult free, so possibly completely free. It’s £207 for 3 if you sit in the East or West. THAT is the issue. And as for direct debit, I’m in the lucky position that I could do that if I needed to. But do you know how many people actually can’t set up a DD of that amount?

You seem to have trouble understanding waht we’re saying, just because it doesn’t affect you.

I do sympathise with vat especially his comment about forking out for 2 kids. As you say vat, if a lot of games fall midweek, then like your kids, my son doesn’t go either. Infact, i cant remember the last time he went on a tuesday night. He isnt keen on night games, especially in the colder months.

On the plus side. If you do decide to renew in E6 towards the back, my crew will be sitting a few rows in front of you. However, I hope you’re not a numpty fan. I used to have many a “difference of opinion” shall we say with the crew who used to sit behind me. When we first got relegated to league 1, they either stopped coming or decided to switch seats. :) ;)

Correct me if I’m wrong garswood but £207 for 3 kids is £9 a game

                  #159195

It’s also £207 up front for people who may not have WHEN OTHERS ARE GETTING IT FOR FREE or significantly less.

Most clubs have allways had stands and seats that are priced differently. In this case it’s a special offer for the family area.
Sometimes the club cannot do right for doing wrong. When the North Stand was cheap for kids I used to drop my daughter and her mate in there then go in the South myself.
If what’s on offer now and I was taking kids regularly I would just snatch their hands off even if it wasn’t my first choice of stand. Would rather do that than miss going.

Standish, you and garswood between you couldn’t have put it across any better. The club must do anything in its power to get the next generation of kids into the DW. It will always be a problem for us geographically but as you say like myself one Latics game and I was hooked for life. I think the fact that we have been spoiled in the past ticket price wise and success likewise is a factor in many having a moan now. Maybe extending the family offer to a part of the East stand as well may appease some who are being put off renewing. Whatever it takes to get tomorrows’ fans in must be achieved.
