‘Oi Sharpe. Why aren’t we going for a decent manager or signing any players in the summer?’

Wiganers are so apathetic, they still wouldn’t turn out in numbers.

The fair weather fans will remain fair weather fans and ST holders will refuse to pay for any possible cup games so JPT crowds will be down on actual league crowds.
Not just a Wigan thing really, crowds down all over the country but you can read our fans (and the rugby lot) like a book.
18 May 2017 at 11:26 am #159069The longer they leave it, the less chance they have of getting anyone bar the most uber of fans to buy a ST.
I’m beginning to think that despite failure last season there’s going to be a significant increase, and Sharp & Jacko are looking to bury the announcement underneath the fanfare of unveiling a new manager.

If its Stubbs I doubt it will be a fanfare.
18 May 2017 at 2:20 pm #159074Wait until the mass exodus of players starts!
18 May 2017 at 4:22 pm #159075Its the kids we need to target lets have Wigan kids wearing Latics kits and going to games not scum and bindipper fans.
Pfff shirts at £40-£50 a pop……lets start by knocking them out at a tenner each.
Go retro, loads are doing it, take a look next season how many fans are wearing retro shirts!
Back when we had good kits not the crap krappa dross we have today.
18 May 2017 at 6:11 pm #159078What i meant by retro was that a lot of people won’t pay silly money for replica shirts anymore, they wear shirts they purchased a few seasons ago.
No problem with that, still club colours and tree and crown badge!
Fuck the EFL
19 May 2017 at 9:48 pm #159099Prices now announced and I’m not happy
Adult tickets are sort of OK (we need to balance the books and last year was a bargain), but my 6-year-old grandson who loves “his seat” in the East Stand, where he has sat for the past 3 years loyally, is now expected to be charged £69.
If we were in the South Stand it would be free, or at most £29. But we don’t want to go in the South Stand. Why are the club trying to pen all families in there. There are loads of kiddies in the West and East Stands.
All prices should be comparable. OK if you make it a bit cheaper in teh South – I’ll even accept free with an adult in teh South, but £29 elsewhere. But £69 for a 6-year-old? People just aren’t going to take the kids, and that’s the future support of the club gone.
I really think they should think again, before they penalise people who just want to take along youngsters. If there is a party of adults, but one wants to regularly bring their child, then it is not reasonable to ask everyne in the group to move to the South Stand.

Totally agree with you there, George.
Only Latics could hike prices up after relegation. We will DEFINITELY be waiting to see who comes as manager, etc. Now. It’s going to cost us over £800 for 2 adults and 2 young kids. It’s actually a disgrace.
And no, definitely do not go in the south stand. We did that this season and it was abysmal. Terrible view (not that there was much to see) and no atmosphere or feeling of fan camerardrie.
But the fact it’s going to cost us over 800 to sit on the side, as opposed to around 500 from last season……
I am seriously thinking of not bothering.
Well done once again, Latics. You’ve made a big big mistake, once again.
19 May 2017 at 11:20 pm #159104It’s not actually a hike though is it? It’s going back to what it was a couple of years after you were rewarded for promotion by a one off discounted price last year. Did you complain when you got a huge discount last year?
19 May 2017 at 11:46 pm #159105I’m not complaining about the adult prices. I know we got a bargain last year.
It’s the inequality in the children’s pricing.
£69 for a 6-year-old – when no-one is exactly going to be clamouring for his seat.
We will pay it – it’s in his blood now.
But how many others won’t buy a ticket for their kiddies – the future of the club – because of the price, when they can’t usually get to night matches etc. -
