I was only jesting but in answer to your last comment we struggled against Partick and Dundee albeit pre-season and that’s probably an indication of our level depressing that it is.

If I was picking a comparison club in England, Rangers would be Sheffield Wednesday,
Queen of the South would be Forrest Green and Celtic would be Middlesbrough.

        I would certainly fancy our chances with Rangers any day, lets look at the backbone of this great team;

Goalkeeper – Wes Fotheringham [was with Fulham 2009/10 season played zilch, loaned out to Bromley played 7, was with Crystal Palace, 2010-2012, played zilch, loaned out to Bromley again, played 33 times, loaned out to Boreham Wood and Histon, played 14 games, loaned out to Swindon where he eventually signed and played over 150 games. Was released by Swindon end of last season and signed for Rangers.
Cameron Bell [was with Kilmarnock for 11 seasons making just 115 starts, loaned out to Montrose and Q of the S, played 19 games before moving to rangers in 2013, played 47 games. played for his national team Scotland just the once]

Central defenders; Rob Kearnan [we know how good he is] and Lee Wallace El Capita-no. [Rangers bid £300k for him, Hearts wanted £3m, they eventually got him for £1.5m]. Wallace has played just 8 times in 6 years for as we know is pish poor Scottish national team.

Midfielders – Andy Haliday [Was with Middlesbrough 5 years, 2010-15 in which time he was loaned out at Walsall, Blackpool and then Bradford, who he eventually was sold to earlier this year. Bradford released him at the end of last season and he signed for Rangers].
Jason Holt [was with Hearts for 4 years 2011-15 during which time he was loaned out to Raith Rovers, then Sheffield Utd. Rangers signed him from his parent club Hearts this season for £65K, yes £65,000]

Forwards – Nathan Oduwa [Come through the ranks at Spurs so decent pedigree, HOWEVER, didn’t make the first team, was loaned out to Luton last season played 11 times scored zilch, loaned to Rangers this season, played 8 scored zilch]
Martin Waghorn- [we know all about him no matter what anyone says he did diddley squat for us]

I put before you the backbone of Rangers football club!

The point being that Rangers are not the team people on here are making out.
Lets go for comparison one and two, Waghorn and Tavernier, not good enough to play for a poor championship team who got relegated, but now playing every game for Rangers this season… over to you, start with the goalies if you want Jussi v Fothers. :P

As St Johnstone’s work-rate dropped, Rangers found greater purpose. Nathan Oduwa skipped in from the left, past two defenders, then skelped a shot off the crossbar. Tavernier then did the same on the right, but finished by rifling the ball high into the net.

This was a reminder of the tactical and organisational nous of Wright and the extent of the work that remains to be done by Warburton. Rangers have not met a side of this hardiness or cleverness in the Championship and the hosts ran aground.

Rangers may well be superior to most Championship teams, but there may still be a considerable gap between them and the Premier League.

Extraordinary – what a lot of passengers Waghorn and Tavernier are carrying!

Funnily enough I would have started there anyway, we’ve got a 40 yo in nets who got beat at the near post the other night. Don’t know anything about the Rangers lad but he doesn’t seem to be letting many in.
Who’s next on our backbone Bumbling Barnett v Tavernier followed by ex Blackpool sideways Perkins or non league Power? Can’t wait till we get to Waghorn v Grant Holt!

Funily enough I just knew you would throw a rangers player in against somebody who has not played this season and most of last. Let’s stick with direcomparisons of players who are playing regular for both teams this season. You lost total credibility when comparing our performances in a few preseason friendlies when there were 8-9 changes made in the 90 mins.

Haha in the net you go.
You brought up Jussi a goalkeeper who has played 1 league game for us, I brought up Grant Holt who’s played more than that for us, now you want to take your ball home!

Captain Crackpot or Mr Uncredible I can’t decide what your new name is.

Yipee and did you not refer to Rangers having players like Kenny Miller, who turns 36 in December??. At least goalies usually have a longer shelf life than outfield players. When you get time, lets see this man for man comparison, based on most games played in that position this season, then ask yourself a serious question, are Rangers really that good? Most posters on here who’s opinion are worth summut, disagree with you as usual:lol:

I don’t really see anyone who’s agreeing with you full stop. Those who agree with me have an opinion that doesn’t count then? As each post goes by you make yourself look even dafter. Then end it with pulling a face as if that makes you right?

To be honest I don’t care if anyone agrees with me or not, it’s my opinion and to be honest some folk do agree with me on some things on others they don’t. Rarely does it descend into what you do, you’re irrational.

Anyway got any tips tonight to follow on from Port Vale getting tonked by us and free money on Poland beating Scotland? Who are the Maldives playing?

Waghorn and Tavernier are half decent players, but weren’t good enough for the English Championship or they would have been playing in it last season and this. They have obviously found a level now where they can stand out as world beaters in the Scottish Championship against part timers every week.

I think they would have been good enough for League one, but they were on too much money, and pound for pound Grigg and Daniels, who are probably their replacements in our team are better value for money.

Bristol City won our league last season with Tavernier in their team but made no attempt to sign him for their Championship campaign, likewise MK Dons made no attempt to sign Will Grigg after a fine season with them. Maybe there is something in it and both are decent league one level players but not good enough to play any higher.

From what I have seen of Grigg so far this season he also would be banging them in left right and centre against the part timers in the Scottish Championship, and we as a team would probably be in the same position as Rangers if we were in that league.

Only next season if they play and score consistently in the Scottish Prem will we have any idea if they are good enough to even cut it in League One in England nevermind the Championship.

Good luck to them and can we just let them get on with it and put our energies into supporting the players we have here now.

In a Holt v Waghorn arguement it’s difficult to make a case for Waghorn given that in 7 years in English football he scored 34 goals in total. Funny how his record has suddenly improved against part timers in a piss poor league.

Holt on the other hand has over 150 to his name, scored the most goals in the Premier league one season by an English striker and won player of the year at the club he represented three times on the running during his stay there. Hard to see Waghorn ever reaching those heady heights that’s for sure playing Dumbarton!
