The defence should have been more vigilant instead of day dreaming as they did for their first ! Not good enough to survive with this current squad and so it would seem that the end is nigh ! I really cant see us getting many points from now till the New Year !

The goal from the corner should not have been allowed but what on earth were the defenders doing, add to that caldwells poor play gave the corner away in the first place – he tried to play the ball instead of hoofing it- wonder why, i missed the first goal but links being showed now it looked like a glaring error when a hoof was needed – perhaps someone who saw it will tell us what happened, but martinez needs to understand this defence CANNOT play football and he needs to adapt is game plan to suit.
But its not just defence, the obsession with passing for passing sake is also killing us, the penalty was avoidable cruzat and rodalegga messed about with the ball and instead of keeping the ball with just over a minute left they gave it away – then fouled the blackburn player neddlessly, the free kick was cleared to moses who couldnt hold it then comitted another foul, this free kick led to the corner -the rest as they say is history, we could complain about the corner but salmon was off side for gomez’s goal.The defence should have been more vigilant instead of day dreaming as they did for their first ! I don’t give a fuck mate ! I said we were doomed under Martinez way back !! I was laughing when we conceded the penalty because it really has become a big fuckin joke ! :)
Two things from what you’ve just said: the defence had turned off, but they hadn’t believed that it had been played. They were waiting for the corner to be taken. Maybe they should be switched on more, but when they see Pedersen trotting over to (as they believe) take the corner they then don’t expect him to suddenly charge forward with the ball.
And if it was Gomez’ goal what does it matter where Sammon was – he was presumably deemed to not be interefring with play if he was actually in an “offside position”

As much as it hurts and its a disgrace it was allowed, I think marriner is in a no win situation – lets be honest until we have all seen the television replays none of us could tell what had happened, a chap near me shouted(from the south stand no less)”watch out hes tapped that ball forward” I wondered what he was on about until i saw pederson running into the box with the ball, I honestly thought it was a good goal – quick thinking that caught us out.
The trouble is referees are under pressure to give the benefit of doubt to the attacking team, and if he didnt see it how can he disallow it ?

Definately !But its the fault of the system and the reason we need electronic help like rugby, cricket, tennis, horse/dog racing & athletics(photo finish), even televised golf look to see if a player has addressed or moved the ball and F1 motor racing look at TV footage before a driver is given drive through penalties.
So why does the biggest, richest sport in the world still live in the last century.
