The reason they didnt do anything about the corner is they themselves thought it was a perfectly good goal.
Agreed. We just got done by a cute bit of cheating and no amount of indignant hand-wringing by us Wiganers will change that.
……and it took three bloody pages and an abridged version of ‘Refereeing for Dummies’ to get us to this obvious conclusion.
Griff you are losing your touch……..more timely intervention next time please.
But hey – you know nothing about football (apparently) ;)
I keep promising myself that I won’t rise to the idiots that have nothing more creative or constructive to add other than “F*** off Martinez, you useless Spanish clown (or worse)”. I’d much prefer to have a reasoned debate about all things WAFC but with the exception of a notable few, it’s a bit of a pipe dream on this forum.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with their actual opinion and everything to do with the sneery, spiteful, non-compromising, unintelligent and ignorant way it is presented. If they were sufficiently bright to be worth entering into a meaningful conversation with, then they might find I actually agree with them on a lot of things. Well, not that many, to be fair.
It is probably the first real football debate that has been on this site for a long, long time, people exchanging views and opinions of the interpretation of the offside laws, with someone who enforces them on a regular basis giving his opinion of why he would have disallowed the goal, a debate that didn’t descend into dogmatic bickering about the merits of the manager or his skills or inadequacies.
That is until ‘Mordant Micky’ descends from the highest ivory precipice that the board offers, to unleash his caustic wit on the participants and enter into an all too usual nudging an winking parody with the boards self appointed guardian of intellect, who in turn launches into a diatribe of insults aimed at the less fortunate souls on here who don’t meet up to the inflated, self opinionated, superior educated world that exists in their minds only.
Just follow Rugby League and introduce a video ref. It would have taken about two seconds to see that it should not have been allowed.
This will never happen in world football as long as blatter is in charge. Although it sounds a good idea, it also eliminates all the controversy and unpredictability of a football result.(lampards “goal” v germans last year in wc2010 or Sir Geoff hurst’s “goal” in ’66).swings in roundabouts and all that. plus matches would last till 6pm on a saturday with all the stops………
It will never happen as it will make football last longer than the american football b/shite. I look forward to witnessing our “goal” that should never have stood next week in front of 40k mackems

I forgot to add one of these just for you two ;)
Hmmmmmm……yes…….”MordantMicky”
Let me see……..I like how you’ve cut it here…………….indeed quality material too I see……..generous in the ‘personal tackle’ department…….nice lining……great fit………..yes…….lots of fur around the collar to keep me warm atop the ‘dizzy heights’ of the ivory precipice I seemed to have inherited from you……yes I like it.
I’ll take it, sir………have it wrapped and sent to my ‘tower’ immediately.
You really do have superior, self righteous opinion of yourself don’t you? Of course I made a comment about the thread title and how, very simply, it could have all been rolled up into a few sentences that described the incident for what it was worth and the contempt I felt for the ‘ref’ in allowing it to happen but more importantly the distaste I felt about the so called ‘professional’ players even contemplating that disgusting cheating act…………it is on record my views on cheats.
Secondly….I am not one to stifle debate or discussion, however, if you feel that after the ‘part-time liner’ had given his opinion on the incident then went on to rubbish others by quoting ‘chapter and verse’ text-book fashion as an excuse for proper debate after having seen the whole bloody match (Andy Gray style)from 400 different angles in slow motion, read the plethora of pundit opinions in the Sunday rags and was even writing whilst ‘looking at a freeze frame’ of the game on his computer screen then we are poles apart on both our interpretation of what constitutes that discussion.
Guilty? ………Yes I am. Guilty of staying positive about our manager; guilty of staying positive about my team; guilty of ‘getting a kick’ out of last Saturdays game; guilty of staying positive about our future…..guilty, guilty, guilty. The difference between me and you (and some of the less fortunate souls on here who don’t meet up to the inflated, self opinionated, superior educated world that exists in their minds only (your words – whatever it was supposed to mean…..but I got your intention) is that when I come on the board I have only positive thoughts and comments on the team to make whereas you, and yours, come armed with snide, malicious, derogatory and supercilious comments designed with one, and only one, aim in mind and that is to belittle, sneer at and ‘talk over’ those with opposing views to your bullsh1t opinions using sedition as a weapon on choice…..it’s as if you want people to stop coming here and move over elsewhere.
Indeed……..quick to comment I noticed, and with a similar style (I’m reminded of what a fellow poster said in a pm recently) and I look to see if you and the ‘ref’ are one and the same………….”methinks the lady doth protest too much” – there I’ve thrown the mud – let’s see if some sticks.
Yes…….I like the suit you’ve made – it’s a great fit…………………….
…………………………………but not as good as the ‘blue and white’ one I have hanging in my wardrobe which is a better fit, cleaner, sharper lines and with a much more up-to-date style…….I’ll be wearing this one on Saturday.
