Dave, why will it affect us so badly if we lose out on the TV money for being in the prem?

Dave, why will it affect us so badly if we lose out on the TV money for being in the prem?

      A very good question John!

My understanding is that as a club we will still be financially secure as the majority of the TV money is spent on Premier League wages which IF we get relegated will drop considerably.

None the less with the increase of approx. £10 million in revenue per PL club next season the worry is it will create a bigger gap between the quality of the Premier League and Championship and we would like to be on that ship when it sails.

Then again its a strong possibility that the quality wont increase at all but players will still be paid more especially by the clubs coming up who some times have to offer that bit extra to secure a target.

Hopefully the likes of Crystal Palace will have the common sense to put in the essential clauses that we are reported to have in our players and staffs contracts.

God forbid they should find themselves in financial trouble again and have to write off another considerable chunk of their tax bill to HMRC so the rest of us can pick up the difference.

My thoughts are that we don’t pay premier league wages anyway, I’m guessing that our wage bill is actually the same as some championship clubs, and our transfer policy has been shrewd, add to that the work being put into youth development and a long term ethos at the club, and I think that we are structured to be in either the prem or the championship, it shouldn’t matter financially which one, although the prem is obviously preferable.

I really don’t think there is anything to worry about as supporters, it’s not for us to worry about financials, there’s enough to worry and moan about. Dave Whelan is as sharp a a tack money wise, and the inevitable foray into the championship will have been built into the structure of the business.

          Might not happen yet anyway.

There was a thread about this and it as been done numerous times but I think Standish posted some thing about our wage bill being £39 million a couple of years ago against turnover of £45 million
so not much wriggle room either way

                What a nob.

Anybody who knows me knows I’ve been going since 1986. That’s 27 years. I first had a Cockney latic fanzine back in 1989, when there was a picture of a Dave Thompson lookalike on the front.

There you go again having to prove yourself. Google is wonderful. I don`t know anyone who knew you before the internet came along

To be quite honest, I didn’t know the name Jason Taylor, before the internet. I didn’t know the name Chris Griffin, before the internet. I didn’t know the name George Chilvers, before the internet. I could go on all night here.

I knew Jason well before the internet. I played football against Griff before the internet and I`ve known Georges face to say hello to since the 80s because my uncle knew him. So there`s my valid argument Davey

Do you honestly think I’m arsed about making a name for myself on the internet? Ha Ha. Do one back to your insular mates back on your insular, boring site. Please. Your just getting embarrassing now.

Yes I do think you are trying to make a name for yourself because no one knew you before the internet. That`s why you were getting upset when your articles weren`t getting in the fanzine, that`s why you interviewed yourself because you wanted to get into the “Latics through and through” section of the fanzine, that`s why you have been banned off every Latics site. That`s why you continually slag off sites that wont allow you to post on them. You are the typical kid in the playground who can`t play nicely and doesn’t mix well that goes around annoying everyone

I have to say, it was a damn sight easier supporting Latics before the internet came along.

You went to games and then that was that, whether they won, lost, drew, played great, or played rubbish.

                  Everything is over analized now.

                  Pure gold !!!

This all coming from a bloke who does the longest threads in history to try to get his point across. This coming from the bloke who was sending Jewell lists of players to sign. This coming from the bloke has tried to make a name for himself on every website possible. This coming from the bloke who does FAO Jonathan Jackson posts. This coming from the bloke who tells everyone he isn`t going anymore when things don`t go his way. This coming from a who never stops analizing from day to day.

Keep it coming Dave

You’re coming across as a bit obsessed now Dick, to be honest.

It’s bad enough having SDW banging out the same tune about the rugby crowds without you crawling all over each and everyone of Dave’s posts and saying the same thing. Give it a rest, we get that you don’t like him ;)

Coming from someone who is as argumentative on here as you are Griff I`m not sure if that`s a compliment or insult

It`s not the point of not liking him. It`s the point of letting people know the real Davey. You see as time goes by and posters get newer Dave seems to think all is forgotten and he is a new man. Sorry but after what an utter shambles he`s been over the years I like to remind them.

And you used to wind him up as much as anyone.

                    #113056

If you believe he is so obsessed with gaining notoriety from the internet are you not just aiding him to do so by constantly berating him on here with stories of his past endeavours?

Matter of the fact is he is playing nice on here.

If he doesnt I am sure the Mod’s and powers that be will pick up on it and deal with it as they see fit.

Nobody likes an internet warrior and you are coming across as an internet vigilante fighting the force of evil :)

It’s a forum, the whole point is to be argumentative.

I hope I wind lots of people up a little bit. That’s all part of the fun, as you well know – I think I know who you are now, by the way ;)

I just think you putting the same accusations to him in response to each and every post. Anyway, it’s only my two penneth.
