I was brought up on the border between Wigan and Bolton. My dad used to take me to Burnden Park to watch BWFC, however he was not a Bolton fan, just liked to take me to a game. I thought I was a Bolton fan but quickly realised that I hadn’t the passion that other fans had. As a result, I stopped going and got into other things.
I was still interested in football, as a game, and began to pay attention to Wigan’s performances. I
Cannot deny that I started to go to games after they were promoted to the premiership but there was a level of coincidence to this. I don’t care for fancy arsed footballers with large pay packets and egos.
As it stands, I went on Tuesday night and am not going to Wembley. Whatever happens, I will be
buying a season ticket next season and will be passing on my new found allegiance to my daughter.
Late in the day, and through an unorthodox route, but surely not a bad thing?
