How many tickets are corporates and the punters in the boxes allowed to have

I was also in the Kippax as a 15 years old with my dad. I swore at Summerbee, forgetting who I was with (to paraphrase Basil Fawlty, I said it once but I think I got away with it!)

We were on Match of the Day (not first either because I remember my mum saying ‘Why don’t they show it first when they know we are waiting to watch it”. Nothings changed in 43 years). After Stuart Maconie did his bit on Football Focus a couple of seasons ago, I asked the BBC if footage is available and if any of the match remains. If your not directly involved you cant have footage. I didn’t get a reply to my second question.

There’s a link to footage of the goal:

Long before my time, but I met Dennis Reeves in the supporters bar before a game, last season.

Was a lovely bloke who I think enjoyed me asking him about his career. He’d played for Chester before us and recalled taking on Man Utd in the 60’s in the FA Cup at Old Trafford, narrowly losing one nil to an offside goal by, I think he said, George Best. (possibly Charlton)

Dennis also said he regretted leaving Latics when he did, a decision made due to a niggling back injury, and him needing to concentrate on his skilled trade to support his family.

He still follows us and no doubt will have a few memories flashing back with our final opponents being City.

I hope the club thanks yesterdays fans by making sure every one who went can get a ticket for the final if they want one

I think the best way to sort the tickets out is , we all turn up at the ticket office and flop for who goes first (women biggest gegs). It might sound abit gay but it will sort the men out from the boys.

Can someone get me a ticket ?

From a reliable source and its not Sabin :P one per s ticket, then off the database then what’s left will go on general sale

              #109568

Does that mean 1 per season ticket, as in 2 in total, or just one for the season ticket holder alone.
Because that doesn`t make sense to me.
We have 10k season ticket holders so we are going to sell another 14k or so, on general sale ?

So, if you want to go with someone as St holder, you cant sit together, unless you wait for general sale, when best seats will be gone !!!

Surely allowing each ST to take one more ticket would be just reward !

I agree. I feel that the best way to keep city fans out of our end and get the most genuine fans going, two per season ticket is best.

That still leaves about 4-5000 for people on the database with a consistent purchasing history.

Not many would get on the black market because i dont know many season ticket holders who wouldn’t utilise their second ticket for family or genuine latics fans.

Would be far easier for the club to administer and prevent family and friends sitting all over the shop.

On City forums their are loads buying tickets for Swansea to get on the database. Doubt they will let you have a final ticket on the back of these games.

                #109574
Secondly, 1(ONE) per season ticket holder, then one per person on the club data base with purchasing history, these will be sold in in 4 seperate groups, group one being the most purchases on the account, so the more tickets you have bought further up the queue you are.
After this the previous groups will be able to purchase one further ticket in the same order for family or friends.

The club think this is the fairest way of distributing a limited supply and will allow more people who actually go to games, as opposed to friends and family members getting seats from season ticket holders despite rarely going to games.

                Announcement due Friday.

Whilst this does seem the fairest way that I’ve heard of allocating priority so far I can’t possibly see how on earth the club could possibly make that work & how would someone know just where they came on the list & therefore when they could buy one
And how would they rank it? Would I as someone who had a season ticket from before the DW/JJB opened but now only makes a handful be ranked as having bought all home tickets for matches between 1999 & 2008 (& therefore I assume would be high up the list) or would I be low down coz I’m not down as having bought 19-23+ tickets a season & who over the last few seasons has only made about 5 or 6 a year? And would purchasing away tickets count too??
Just seems far too complicated to be workable to me & somet that seems far to complicated for Latics admin to get right (no offence to anyone involved!!)

I’ve yet to hear one good reason why being a season ticket holder should give you any right to buy a cup final ticket for a family member – especially when it may be for someone who has never been before & could be over someone who goes to many home & away but for whom buying a ST isn’t economical.
And if family & friends have to sit apart then so be it (IMO)

What I’m trying to say though, is that most people like yourself probably know someone with a season ticket who can get you a ticket. I’d suggest most people on the database have a family or friend who would get them a ticket.

Putting it on a database basis gives a greater chance imo of tickets going to people who want to profit or have just seen a couple of games this season.

Also there would still be 4-5000 still up for grabs, to I would hope, genuine fans.

Like you said though, having a who’s got the longest dick scenario for the database is almost impossible to work out.

Maybe if they said that for the second ticket you have to provide the name of a person who is on the database, then it would stop buying for family who haven’t been before?

Also with Database sales, will it also be the case that season ticket holders who will obviously be on the database get a second crack at tickets?

I’d hate to think what the meetings are like at the DW about all this. I need a lye down!

                  #109579

I would agree with that TyldseleyLatic, if we had 20k ST holders but, having 10k then that still leaves circa 4k after sponsors etc to distribute to general sale, which i thought would be enough.

But, no winners on this one, and as has been said, a headache for Latics Admin.

Suppose a good problem to have and I guess no concerns about us not taking our allocation for this one !!

Season ticket holders should get two tickets each.
Asumming the fact each s/t holder may not take two tickets there still will around 4,000 tickets left.
A large number of s/t holders will be getting a ticket for those already on the data base.
If only one ticket per s/t holder is issued many of the 12,000 remaining will fall into the wrong hands, with people on the data base who have only attended a couple of games over the last few years trying to make a quick buck!. After the scenes from the semi final the last thing our club wants is opposition fans in the Wigan end.
If the ticket distribution is as i have mentioned i doubt many genuine fans would miss out on a ticket. Plus it ensures only Wigan fans will get tickets.

Give 2 tickets per season ticket. Thats 20,000 (maximum) gone.

That leaves 5,000. Give the priority then to people who are willing to buy a season ticket for next season either upfront or willing to put down a deposit.

Then give whatever is left to people on the database and who attended the semi but don’t have a ST.

                        Announcement on Friday.

I went for that ticket4final.com thing the club advertised before the semi. £8 option to buy a ticket at face value if we got through which the ticket office has confirmed I can exercise when they get released to the corporates etc (which i think have priority over season ticket holders). Im neither hence me risking £8 on us beating Millwall.

In my opinion, they should give the priority, in this order, to:

Season Ticket Holders. (Depending on how many we have ONE or TWO per ST)
Semi Final Ticket Holders/Purchasers-With NO Season Ticket.
People With Neither-General Sale. First come, first served. (previous purchasers/people showing clear proof of id and address, entered onto database)

Done correctly, there should be NO NEED for anybody queuing from 5am. Thats a load of shite. If ST holders know they have say, 5 days or a week to purchase, queuing should be eradicated.
And then again, for Semi Final Ticket holders without a ST, give them a window of 3 or 4 days to purchase.

The only queuing possibly needed, should be for the remaining few tickets on General Sale. I hope the club administrates this correctly, as I’m still shattered from Saturday yet and can do without having to camp out.

Reward the loyal fans with not having to queue and panic.
