4 August 2011 at 9:39 am #69484Every time a post pops up about the Warriors do you realise how silly it looks. Tiny little things that reek of desperation and jealousy. How can you criticize their crowds when we have woeful crowds ourselves. Our away support is dreadful and only comes out to play when there is something at stake so to bring that up is just comical. We play the biggest sport in the world and can’t nearly fill it whereas the Rugby play in a sport which it at least 10 times least popular than football. You pick at their crowds, You pick at their fans, you pick at their defeats and you pick at their league. Well i am afraid The football is just as bad on every front and our league is the worst run and most corrupt in the world, (bar Italian Serie A) You moan when they get a big win and then they come on here and wind you up about it. Maybe if the threads like this were cut out the situation would not be inflamed and both sports can get on with it. I love both sports and both teams as believe it or not i am a Wiganer and support my town, And i don’t let what one person did 30 years ago mar that decision. If it was not for Maurice Lindsay there wouldn’t be any of this. :angry-soapbox: :angry-soapbox:
4 August 2011 at 12:00 pm #69488I agree that threads like this just make Latics fans look small minded & obsessed with em
However, the start of my dislike of Wigan rugby league had absolutely nowt to do with Maurice Lindsay.
I also remember an article in a Tranmere programme in the bit about the away club that carried a quote from a former manager from the 50’s that said about wigan rugby somet along the lines of “we don’t like them & they most certainly don’t like us” which shows that the bitterness between the 2 clubs goes way beyond a comment made by someone on football focus over 24 years ago4 August 2011 at 1:20 pm #69494Totally agree with Yosser on this. We aren’t helping ourselves with threads of this nature.
Dont forget we are to play the 3 promoted teams over the next few weeks & I’ll guarantee we wont fill the DW or probably take our full allocation to the Liberty stadium. So stop giving our chubbie ‘friends’ another stick to beat us with as we are just making ourselves look very immature & very silly. :angry-soapbox:
Let’s be the bigger fans & drop ALL posts deriding the rugby. :angry-chillpill:4 August 2011 at 1:45 pm #69496I can fully understand these latics fans having a pop at the Chubsters crowds having endured over 25 years of pish taking from them myself. If you don’t agree with it just don’t get involved with the thread its that simple. To me and many others I hate Wigan rugby more than I hate Bolton or Preston. So as I said this is a wigan athletic forum and of fans want to have a go at our lodgers so be it. Just avoid the thread if you don’t agree you wont change anyone’s views on this.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!4 August 2011 at 2:54 pm #69497I can understand the intense dislike for them & I can’t stand em myself like you say just as much (if not more than the likes of Bolton & co)
But there is a fine line between banter between rivals & looking like your more obsessed with them than you are about your own club – it reminds me very much of when i worked in the centre of Manchester in 1997/1998 & the City fans in the office seemed obsessed with anything to do with United whether it was them losing in Europe, not taking a full allocation to Juventus, getting beat by anybody & barely said a word anout their own club (admittedly they were taking regular batterings from the likes of Huddersfield & were fighting relegation to the 3rd division at the time!!! – them were the days!!)As I said I can’t stand em but so what if they have 150 tickets left for the semi-final on Saturday. If, as many people who write these posts claim, they are so insignificant then just ignore em – it tends to wind em up even more
Besides which, as someone else has pointed out, when it comes to crowds Latics fans are hardly in a position to start taking the pish are we??5 August 2011 at 3:33 am #69518I can understand the intense dislike for them & I can’t stand em myself like you say just as much (if not more than the likes of Bolton & co)

Wigan Warriors Rugby League Football Club is one of the most famous and successful sports club’s in the world. The club has grown from humble beginnings into one of the giants of British sport.

Yosser, you put it so well. I salute you![/quote]
…………and you chose the 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry (American Forces) to “salute” him. You complete and utter kumquat.
What was wrong with using this…..
It actually comes from your own ‘sponsored’ site.
Further…When it comes to personal insults….I tend to let those who try making fools of others fail drastically as they complete the process on themselves.
6 August 2011 at 10:27 am #69566Blimey, no wonder we’re struggling in Iraq and Afghanistan. How short is that blonde squaddie? And don’t they make them cut their hair anymore?
Yosser, for the record, I did one of those “good post” thingy replies to your post on Thursday with a comment along the lines of “people in glass houses, etc”. I posted it remotely via this stoopid iPhone and I only realised yesterday that it never appeared. The moment had passed by then.
