when the group on here known as the “darkside” have called for martinez to be sacked this season, one of the reasons brought up by his supporters in his defence was, ‘it would cause turmoil to do it mid season and would harm our battle against relegation’

i must admit it is a theory i have tended to agree with despite my well known view that martinez is not the man for us. looking at the table tonight with three games to go it looks like this ‘stick with what you have theory’ is somewhat flawed, of the bottom eight clubs seven have stuck by their manager, even the eigth club blackburn sacked their manager for no obvious reason when they were plodding easily to upper mid table security under fat sam.

the clubs that were under serious threat of relegation or badly under performing as in liverpools case have gone on to move up the table comfortably since the sacking of the old and bring in the new manager.

when a manager gets sacked mid season all the ex manager and player pundits cry wolf, but it seems that there is some credance in doing so, do players lift their effort levels for a new man or do they just totally disrespect the previous manager to a level where they dont try on purpose, or do new managers breath new life into a club.

this is not about martinez and is a genuine question, as i have said i tentatively support the decision to keep martinez, not that i ever thought whelan would sack him this season, but does the dont change mid season opinion hold water.

It’s all relative, we will never know if Di Matteo (or any of the other sacked managers) would have done the same or better.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

Just like we’ll never know what would have happened had Zog’s goal been allowed at Rovers, If Rooney had been sent off, had the first free kick gone our away at Sunderland when they equalised, had we got the penalty at Liverpool and if Everton’s 26 on Saturday received two of the seven yellow cards he should have got.

Personally I think the refeeeing this season has been abysmal and a very large cause for our predicament.

You cannot blame the referees this season Bobby. Yes we have had some decisions go against us but so have all the bottom team (how many pens should Blackpool have had in the last 2 weeks) The reason we are in trouble is down to Martinez not being capable at this level

its not that he is not capable, its due to the fact he is still the youngest manager in the premier league who is still learning his trade. admittedly he has had to learn fast, but he will get there. even if we go down i believe he will bring us up. as your name suggests; “keep the faith”

                Well done Bobby!!

Not only have you kept us up, you’ve done it playing a complete new style of football that has taken the players a while to get used to.

You’ve done it despite this being the hardest fought EPL since its conception.

You’ve done it despite having more than an unfair share of poor reffing decisions all season.

You’ve done it despite having your best player affected by transfer contraversy at a key time.

You’ve done it despite having key players injured, suspended and out on international duty, more than any other Wigan Athletic side have ever had to deal with.

You’ve done it despite your record signing striker not adapting to the rigours of the EPL and then having to ship him out on loan to get his confidence back. We understand that it was a gamble, he looked brilliant playing in south america and it was a gamble that unfortunately didn’t work out for you.

You’ve done it despite some of our so called fans knifing you in the back before October and even childishly taking “Martinez Out” banners to games and booing before 10 mins is on the clock.

Yes, well done Bobby, well done mate!!

Please read the first 8 words of my post very carefully and slowly.

If there is anyone guilty of being premature with their eulogies, look no further than the reflection in your monitor pal.
