Tyldesley Take the figures as an average post per game, not a grand total and it’s actually 11 – 2.
That aside, Christ knows what sort of company you keep and where you sit in the stadium if everyone you speak to is against Martinez and don’t think he’s up to it. Do you all meet up at a set point pre-match – under a large dark cloud somewhere?
Out of my mates, it’s a mixed bunch, as is where I sit in the West Stand. There are some of my mates who want Martinez sacked, but to explain, these particular people know feck-all about most things, and usually always make the wrong decisions on life. ;)
For me, the Dark Side are not more numerous, just more prone to reactionary comments, booing, jumping up and down shouting etc, so they are noticed. If those who support Martinez started standing up, applauding and shouting praise at him mid-game, them maybe they’d also be noticed. I’ll stand by my 50/50 assumption.

I have now laid my weapon down, and am backing away slowly….

Okay, if you think the Dark Side are the majority, you can have it. I can’t be bothered disputing it.
The fact of the matter is however, the ratio of Dark Siders to Light Siders on this site is not truthfully represented by the respective posts following a game.
After a loss, there is on average, ten times more negative posts than there are positive posts following a win – and this is due to the personal characteristics of the posters, not the numbers contained within either camp.

to be honest i dont have a clue who has more followers, the martinezista group or the contras, and i cant be bothered looking up who makes the most pro or anti posts – but one thing i do know and standish you seem to have the time and inclination to check such things is,
EVERYTIME we lose or give a sub-standard performance the pro martinez loyalists are ALWAYS on here FIRST shouting. “the darkside are coming and they will be spouting their bile”
it seems to be some form of perverse defence mechanism to get the first shot over the bows and i have to admit we on the so called ‘darkside’ fall for it every time.
on the flipside they also go into overdrive if we have actually managed a rare win, to be fair they have only done that 7 times this season, if you discount the euphoria after the hartlepool, preston and swansea reserves wins.
the other thing that stands out a mile is the ‘darkside’ in general keep their moans and complaints aimed at one person, martinez,
whereas the ‘self proclaimed chosen ones’ think its open season to insult anyone that doesnt share their views.Well we will all know soon whether Martinez is up to the job wont we then all this bloody bickering can stop. We all support the same club tho you wouldnt think so reading the posts on here. If we go then he aint up to it if we miraculously survive then he is. Lets wait till after the Stoke game have one hell of a slanging match then all make up and forget this season and move on.We all have our different oppinions thats why football is the greatest sport in the world but some on here will be proved right and some will be proved wrong so lets see who eh? :angry-soapbox:

It is martinez supporters who claim his way is the only way, throw insults at anyone who dares to have a different opinion and the worst of all claim that just because we dont buy into there party line we are disloyal or not true supporters, try telling my 84 year old father in law who has watched latics all his life and hates the way we play now hes not a true fan.

I was quite pleased when you named me as a darksider !! I tend not to go along with sheeple and so I was quite chuffed at the time but now I may have to go over to the lightside as they are now the minority select group !! :D

Do you know, until Bob/Jeff mentioned the other day that I had coined the phrase, I had forgotten that I had.
I had a search back and found that indeed I did, on 28th Jan 2010. If I say so myself it was quite amusing :) but again you have put more sinister connotations on what I actually said, which was:
Black group – the dark side. Critical of everything the club does, though sometimes their views are expressed in a reasonable manner. Like Betamax to DVD, almost impossible to convert. Key members are Loudmouthblue, Natdan, Filmoss, Ticslad, BickyMon.
Never said evil, never said shady. In fact, it was quite a conciliatory statement.

Years ago, there was a kid’s programme called the Tomorrow People about kids with supernatural powers. In one episode, they world was divided into two groups of people who set about trying to kill each other. Which group you were in was determined on a purely arbitrary basis; you were either blue or green, simple as that.
I think the posters on this forum can similarly be grouped into colours. Here’s my stab at groupings.
Blue and White group – generally positive, supportive of what the club is trying to do but realistic about the club’s ambitions. Display a higher level of intelligence than other groups. Sarcastic. Members include Griff, Zeniamon, Thirtytwoyears, StandishWalker, MikcyC, Edinburgh_Latic, Jimmy Cornflake, Jrfatfan, Squire Manny Brown, Bath_Latic.
Black group – the dark side. Critical of everything the club does, though sometimes their views are expressed in a reasonable manner. Like Betamax to DVD, almost impossible to convert. Key members are Loudmouthblue, Natdan, Filmoss, Ticslad, BickyMon.
Grey group – fence-sitters, or flit from view to view. Not necessarily bad, but not easily pigeon-holed. Members are VAT69, TyldesleyLatic, Galactic, Bob On The Moon.
Green – inexperienced, more naive specimens, likely to be targeted by all other groups – please! Junior members include Alex_Wigan, Duke, JamesC and that bloke with Wigan, Latics and 88 or something similar in his user name.
Sky Blue with pink spots – chameleon type characters, difficult to pinpoint their true identity. Not really worth bothering with. Member is JohnArkwright, Mr Bush, Newpremboy, AlanSmith, Mr Logic
