as you say season ticket holders should have first shout but then second dabs should be to the folkes without season tickets who actually have a ticket from the semi. Reward them rather than the jcl who fancies a day out at the final…
Yes, totally agree, and in all honesty I thought the same myself.
The only problem with that for me is that if we have sold around 15k tickets so far, haven’t the greater percentage of them been sold to ST holders anyway? I’m not convinced we’ve sold many to non ST holders anyway.
And also, if they did make it Semi ticket holders after ST holders, how would they administrate it? Can used tickets be swiped and show who was the purchaser? Tickets don’t have your name on, do they? I just think it could get chaotic.
How’s about if we get in the final Mr Whelan lays on some coaches and on production of your semi ticket you travel for free?
Of course, GarswoodLatic is right. Lets beat Millwall first! I agree with Griff’s comments as well.
Would be a nice touch, but I think there’s more chance of getting a personal invite to fly down there in his helicopter.
What a sad state of affairs when you see the need to be bribed to watch your team in an FA Cup Final.
I don’t think any bribery will be needed if we get to the final. Everyone will come out of the woodwork for that one and a lot of them will be disappointed when they can’t get a ticket.
If, God forbid, we lose against Millwall, I will have no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who has chosen not to go the semi because they are saving themselves for Wembley – whatever the reason.
Very harsh of you Mr Griff
When the Millwall team get carried along to a shock victory on the wave of their vociferous support, those Wigan fans that chose not to go to the semi to support their team best not complain
Whilst sympathy might be too much I can certainly understand those who have taken the gamble on Latics getting to the final because they cannot afford 2 Wembley trips in under a month
For a family of 4 you’re looking at a minimum of £100 for your tickets + another £60ish to go down in your car plus upwards of £30 to cover food & drink plus any souvenirs the kids might badger you into getting. You aint gonna get much change out of £200 & if Latics do make it to the final you can look at at least £250 or thereabouts. Many people don’t have £450 they for out to watch 2 football matches
Okay not everyone who won’t be going is in a family fo 4 but the same principles apply no matter how many of you are going
Would I have sympathy? A little bit possibly. Do I understand? Yep completely

Has a father of 6 kids i totally agree!
Thankfully 2 are not interested in going and the 2 girls are going shopping with the ex!

I can’t really afford both and I certainly can’t justify it. However, my wife, who hates football and hates me going to football even more, looked at me in disbelief when I mentioned the possibility of NOT going to both games – assuming there will be a “both” games.
I accept the bit about the families, but the vast majority of people who go to watch Wigan regularly do not do so as a family of 4.
Anyway, i will be there, as will my normal match-going crowd, so I don’t really give a flyer if anyone else goes or not.

Bribed? All us lot with tickets for the semi are the loyal ones. Its more about a gesture of thanks for what is many a very expensive do. As the club have earned money throughout our cup run, 100 coaches would probably cost £100,000 which is peanuts really. Every nob in town will want a final ticket if we get there.
This statement is very correct Garswood and i for one am keeping my feet very firmly on the ground. Quite a few Evertonians i know were taking Wembley for granted…. :cheer:
i honestly think we’ll lose on penalties against a london team in london, whilst the london FA watch in their london box drinking london pride after eating jellied eels from a london chef!!!
although their facially expressions in the posh seats “IF” we win would be a sight to behold……already heard a few songs that will debut at wembley…..bit x-rated, but funny…..ALL AIMED AT THE “ESTABLISHMENT” we have been upsetting since 2005!!!1

Simply turn up with ticket in hand, you’d be on the database as buying one for the semi and away you go..
After season ticket sales you could have an allotted time for these guys to purchase. Going off the amount of tickets we appear NOT to have sold this slot of time would only be a few minutes :silly:

I watch the team because I want to. I’ve been more than amply rewarded for my support by witnessing the goings on over the years, from non-league to the verge of European football. But what would you suggest for my dad, who is currently recuperating from an operation and is physically unable to make it to the semi final but should be ok for the final? The only cup game he hasn’t been to was Bournemouth away? And do you honestly believe that everybody that is going next week are loyal week in week out ones? I know 2 that have never been to one our games in their lives. Should they get free travel but not my dad? It is just unworkable.
I was told Saturday afternoon before the Norwich we’d sold 18k. That was before tickets had been released for general sale. The guy who told me mentioned it was from a good source.
I think there will be 15-20k at the semifinal and if there are some “neutrals” or so called “johnny come lately” there, so what?
We all moan when “neutral”wiganers don’t come to our games and moan again when they do- and you never know,a few of them might like what they see and decide to come again-that’s how we build up the fanbase! At least they’ll (hopefully) be cheering the latics on!
As a matter of fact, me and my lads are travelling down with a warriors season ticket holder/evertonian. He’s bought his ticket fair and square and he’s looking forward to the game as much as I am!
The only problem I could see is if we were playing a team like man utd, in which case,a lot of the wigan/plastic reds would try to get tickets in our end and doubtless be a nuisance.

I agree with all of that but it is still a dear do whether you’re a single bloke or from a Latics watching family. Just coz I’m pushing the boat out a bit beyond what is probably sensible (especially IF we get to the final as well) doesn’t mean I’m gonna slag off someone who doesn’t
And the reaction from my wife (who also hates football & hates me going to football even more & the less said about my refereeing the better) was identical to your’s when I also suggested possibly giving the semi-final a miss. But not everyone’s wives are as great as ours!!!  (must remember to show her this post later!!)
I wouldn’t say that those going the semi final are the loyal ones. There’ll be a large number of day trippers there in their still creased from the packet red shirts. The loyal obes are the 15k that watch us week in week out even when the entertainment on show is woeful.
IF we make the final I would sell in the order of:
Corporate ST holders
ST holders
Non ST holders with semi final ticket
Non ST holders with no semi final ticket
If you watch us every week you’ll get one. If you’re like TipperaryLatic and made the effort to get to the semi then you’ll get one. If you don’t watch us and you couldn’t make Wembley then you run the risk of not getting one but you only have yourself to blame.
