This makes no sense whatsoever. The owners already think that the club is called Wigan Athleticnil coz that’s all they have heard since taking over. It does explain why Will is not a permanent fixture thou. If he goes then I believe every Latics fan should be worried about the direction we are being taken in.
9 January 2019 at 1:12 pm #174990It was all a big wind-up
Everyone can calm down again now!
9 January 2019 at 1:49 pm #174991He goes I’m going (unless Messi replaces him) no way can we replace him with better quality player/goalscorer for the fee we would get for him, im getting worried by the total inactivity at the moment WAFC prove me wrong.
9 January 2019 at 2:03 pm #174992Do we ever act early in the transfer window?
9 January 2019 at 3:50 pm #174993I’m sure we’ll have a fair few pokers in the fire but as per usual, other clubs will be doing the same and hanging on to fringe players till they see what’s on offer plus the player himself might be waiting for a far better offer.
Then weigh in the factor that, were slding down the table faster than sh!t off a shovel ! not very appealing to any player. We’ve so called offered up to £450,000 for Blackett but that’s to replace not to improve so to speak.
If Grigg does go either on loan or even sold then I’m sorry it’s a simple show of defeat by the new owners as they’ve no reason what so ever to unload him. Will Cook not have the last say on such a high profile player still in contract ???.
I just cant see anyone of a similar quality to Grigg coming to Wigan. Now if Cook had of concentrated on getting some kind of supply to Grigg making sure he had service then some of those stupid 1-0’s might just be wins and those games we were in front might now be 3 pts.
No one play player will save us from the drop, it will be a combination of, a few in few out, a total change of style of play, change of player mindset and simple fresh idea’s then we might, just might beat the drop something I feel Cook is incapable f doing. He’s just too far down the line with little time left.
9 January 2019 at 4:14 pm #174994Be a huge dropped bollock to go with a lot of previous transfer f””” ups weve been involved in recently. With the type of service that suits his play Grigg is heads and shoulders above any forward we have.He can’t score sat on bench or picking the ball up on the halfway line. Powells never fit ….but he starts,so use the same method with Grigg then.No smoke without fire and would imagine Power having a word in his ear .Ask em if they’d like Vaughan, Garner or Windass instead…..
9 January 2019 at 4:54 pm #174995Will Cook not have the last say on such a high profile player still in contract ???.But Cook doesn’t fancy him

Cook’s just read this and thought ‘Bollocks…he’s right. If we can get the ball to Will, he might score. Call the players in…’
Nothing to do with the fact that Jacob, Massey and Powell – who usually load the bullets in Grigg’s gun are all crocked?
9 January 2019 at 8:10 pm #174999Happy to have him on loan, but wouldn’t be happy to sign him permanently. There’s a reason why Brentford loaned him out when they got promoted, MK Dons didn’t sign him when they got promoted and he spends all his time on the bench for you in the Championship.I did like last night’s song from the Geordies at the SoL:
“Cry on Netflix. We saw you cry on Netflix …”9 January 2019 at 8:59 pm #175002Makes sense. Keep Vaughan who has scored 7 goals in last 60 games with Grigg scoring 52 goals for us equating to a goal every 2.5 games.
9 January 2019 at 9:06 pm #175003I for one think the Grigg move is a strong possibility. Anthony Pilkington rumoured to be a potential signing but letting Grigg go would be a blunder. Allegedly had 3 bids Tyler Blackett turned down ….now 3 other championship clubs including Leeds now sniffing so looks like he’s sailing into the sunset. How the hell came anyone put Garner/Windass/Vaughan ahead of him is staggering…….or is it Cook has to justify HIS signings ??
9 January 2019 at 9:40 pm #175005Grigg going is something of a backward step and sends out the message to the Wigan fans that were in prep for the drop.
As for Pilkington ?, Another strong hard working player who’ll be well suited amoungst a team full of hard working players who can’t win.
Skillfull fast, goal scoring type of player needed?, Na just bring in a run around all day till your spuds drop off type of player, that’s Cooks preference which is doing fook all to stop the rot awful to watch.
And who said “What makes you think Cook doesn’t fancy him ?” Pmsl you probably can’t get your head out the sand because your Elton John rose tinted glasses are wedged in the hole. It’s a sad sad day for Latics when in such an important transfer window regarding our survival in the Championship the main bit of talking headline news is all about us selling our last prize asset to club in a Division below.
And, Blackett’s definatly not coming to Wigan, I can assure you of that.9 January 2019 at 9:59 pm #175006Unless our new owners come out from under Harry Potters invisibility cloak and stun us with a flurry of positive signings then I think come Jan 31st we will be keeping Bolton company in the bottom 3. You are spot on about hard working ,backward/sideways players.Anyone with a modicum of flair is not a Cook player in this league anyway. Another “winnable (not)….game on the horizon and looks like Cooks cant win formula will be in evidence again and I for 1 think Rotherham will be better equipped for a relegation battle as without disrespecting them they must have expected it..450k offer for Blackett is allegedly less than half of Readings valuation, so as usual we start at 300k and work up incrementally until we completely piss them off.
9 January 2019 at 10:03 pm #175007But hey we have secured Byrne on a 21/2 year deal……league 1 it is to be it seems!!!
9 January 2019 at 10:13 pm #175008Absolute joke if Grigg goes. Fans love him and he’s never let us down.
