He’ll score goals no problem, I think even in the Championship he’ll score, it’s just at Wigan he was never given a chance due to injuries and why go up you make a loss anyway.
16 February 2019 at 2:45 pm #176365I’m sure the cost would have been much less come summertime and another 5 months warming his arse on the DW bench.
I’m not so sure it would[/quote]
I’d beg to differ.
What price would you put on the head of a striker with one year remaining on his contract with 8 goals in 43 Championship games that cant get into the starting XI of a bottom-5 championship side?
16 February 2019 at 4:02 pm #176366To maximise your investment may be better for you guys to stay down. Grigg won’t cut it in championship as you’ve pointed out. Absolute panic buy and seems your forms hardly improved since he’s been in team.

Now our front 4 is available (well minus him) who says we wouldn’t play him every week?
16 February 2019 at 9:46 pm #176371Sam Cosgrove knocking them in for fun another who we let go without giving a proper chance to show his worth.
16 February 2019 at 9:58 pm #176372Callum Lang got his 10th of the season today for Oldham.
16 February 2019 at 10:08 pm #176373In league 2
16 February 2019 at 10:51 pm #176374In league 2So did Jamie Vardy
17 February 2019 at 3:56 pm #176390Just how many of our youth development players have actually made the transition to the first team? I bet you could count them on the hand of a wood machinist!
18 February 2019 at 2:19 am #176410I’ve been watching 38 years and I can’t think of one thats come all the way through to be a first team regular. Baines amd Callum were released by Everton and came to the academy later on.
18 February 2019 at 3:30 am #176413Peter Atherton. Joe Parkinson. Andy Pilling. John Robertson. I’m sure given time I could think of a few more.

Pilling was a bit hit and miss, scored a few. Robertson was a carthorse. Alan Johnson did ok, as did Matty Carragher, god rest his soul. We had other young lads who were on the fringe, played a game or two and then dissapeared…Carl Furlong, Andy Morris, Ian Pendlebury…whatever happened there with him?
Mike Millett would have done well for us, but sadly fate intervened.
Hope Lang, Gelherdt, etc get a chance next season.
18 February 2019 at 11:53 am #176423My memory failed me slightly as the lads mentioned made their debuts over 25 years ago. Point is its hardly been a production line!
