Born and raised a Tyke (please don’t hate me..!) and moved to Wigan in 1987 aged 12. First game was vs Doncaster Rovers. If I remember correctly a tall gangly teenager by the name of Brian Deane scored the opening goal for Rovers, before goals from Sir Robert of Campbellshire and debutant Andy Ainscough gave us a 2-1 victory. And I’ve been hooked ever since, 26 years ago.
I left Wigan in 1993 for university, therefore missing the worst that Kenny Swain had to offer (Pat Gavin and Neil Morton anyone? ) and have remained down here ever since, enjoying the inexorable climb through the leagues from afar. I’m proud that I’m able to genuinely claim that I’m no bandwagon jumper and I was there when we were s@&# :cheer:
