    Bad day indeed.

Disappointing is the fact that we didn’t profit from the recent excellent results / bonus points earned vs. Man U n Arsenal by continuing to pick up the points (Fulham – draw).

Equally, the fact that our recent 2 defeats have both come at the death (Chelsea, Fulham). Careless, you might even say…..

Season is all IFS and BUTS, I know. Had we not, for example, conceded a stupid last min. penalty to Blackburn at the DW, then we would be SIX clear of Blackburn(not THREE) and a mere win short of safety. We do owe them one for the goal (Yakubu / Pederson corner) that never was.

Hopefully, we’ll get our revenge in May !

Discipline, composure and focus key in the remaining games

The best team unfortunately did win.

Latics, lethargic after recent inspiring performances, were flat and back to old ways. Only exception being first 10-15 mins in 2nd half, reflected in goal. Losing Di Santo unfortunate, Sammon not up to it.

Pity, lady luck deserted us and we didn’t pick up what would have been a valuable point. Can ill afford to rely on others doing us any favours (notably, Spurs).

For me, 5 points required to keep us up (target: 40):

    – Newcastle : must not lose (momentum, confidence…)
    – Wolves : last day win

When the Blackburn game comes around on Bank Holiday Monday, then we’ll know exactly what we need to do points-tally-wise – all other teams in the relegation scrap having only the one game to play.

We’ll need to consider the possibility of last day upsets

    E.g.

Man City – QPR (Man U – champions)
    Chelsea – Blackburn

Recall the Man U – West Ham game some years back (Latics last day win at Sheff Utd). Tevez, the goalscorer in 0-1 win for Hammers.

Latics now back in the doo-doo somewhat after recent performances. All to play for ….

Picked up the very last one available in Putney End neutral area / the ground ! at around 12.30 today.

According to Fulham ticket office (FTC), Latics had already returned a number of unsold tickets, Wednesday.

Latics own sales (per FTC) amount to approx. 500. (Putney End, one block only). Plus of course, additional Latics lucky enough to buy one in Putney End neutral area (number unknown).

150 total available neutral seats (Putney End), as of yesterday 9am, had gone by 12.30 today.

Fingers crossed for a London double !
