Well crap. 3 teams ahead of us by 5 points then. 3 wins needed?

exactly, 3 wins a must, as i feared saturday after spurs.

not good enough all season, alcaraz absence has undoubtedly been A factor.

fingers crossed for WBA

should we go down, and given the riches on offer next season, of ALL f@ckin seasons to go down….

still, if the worst happens, hopefully stronger for it, bounce straight back, big ask mind !

Play both!!!! might be a good idea.

Figs and Alcaraz both out; stick with one, can’t afford to f#uk around with goalies as well. life’s currently difficult enough as it is, why complicate things further ?

in reply to: I had a dream… #111136
i had a dream we’d won the FA Cup, beaten city on pens,

shit.will only get home bout 3 ish

but it sure will have been one helluva journey back up the m6 !

in reply to: Point Gained, Or Points Lost? #111115
I think 38 points will be enough, in all honesty.

If we could beat WBA and then beat Swansea, I think we’d be safe. Especially if Sunderland beat Villa on Monday.

Sunderland NOT losing to villa monday is a MUST as far as i’m concerned.

Villa WIN and they’re as good as safe (point(s) against canaries

all other strugglers will surely pick up min. 1 win to guarantee survival

As Di Canio says, (for us) Villa / Sunderland now the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

One point out the last 3 games (city, whu, spurs) whichever way you look at it, is not good enough (cf. prior year run-in). reliant now on others ….

gutted to concede last minute equaliser today – as martinez says, not even a free-kick.

in reply to: I had a dream… #111094
…we were 3 points infront of villa going into the last game and they had to beat us by 3 clear goals to stay up. Woke up with 10 mins left and villa 4-2 up. :woohoo:

i had a dream we’d won the FA Cup, beaten city on pens, and stayed up on the last day of the season … (today, may 21st) sh1t, no dream… B) :) :P

Come on, chaps – we’ve got to stick together!

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Gareth Bale play, though now I’m having second thoughts.

But Wigan have a disciplined, compact style. They should be able to stand up to Spurs. And I think that Spurs are much better going forward than defending. We should be able to create – and hopefully take – some chances.

Like Spurs, Arsenal are chasing a place in the Champions League. The Arsenal game comes on the Tuesday after the Cup Final and is followed by the Villa game on Sunday. Arsenal will have a free weekend, and Villa will have a free midweek.
I would much rather play for the points against Villa than against Arsenal.

Aston Villa did look like a team of school boys against Manchester United, and were lucky that United did not continue in the same vein in the second half. I’d be inclined to make changes after the Cup Final for the Arsenal game, and send out a strong and fresh team against Villa.

and we don’t look like a team of school boys every time we play United ??? – goals for / against … very impressive

IF we’re still in the mix, write off the Arsenal game, and go for it against villa – agreed

in reply to: Bundesliga #110891
The German Bundesliga averages more fans (on terraces) than the premier league and has done for a number of years. They have more clubs averaging over 40k per game than we do.
Ticket pricing will play a big part in that i’m sure.

you may be surpried to know borussia dortmund is the best supported club in europe (no. supporters passing through turnstiles)

1 borussia dortmund 80,000 (sell out)

2 / 3 man united / barcelona (73, 75…forget which way round …)

in reply to: Fat Spam Allardyce #110708
Research or no research, Allardyce has no right to mouth off about us when his own team are not in Year 1 by any stretch and have been relegated once, BY US, during the 8 years we’ve been maintaining our first ever stay.

seen their wage bill ??? all key first teamers on 50k+ weekly (nolan, diame, jarvis, carroll) etc. etc.

whether they’re all worth it, another matter !!!!!!

shouldn’t they ordinarily be higher place than us given their outlay ?

come on sam, stop being the arse and get real (talk facts ….)

in reply to: Alcaraz #110692
The final nail in the coffin I reckon.

I can’t see us winning any games at the moment – I hope I’m wrong I really do,but our luck has run out. I believe that Villa play Sunderland this weekend. We could well be 6 drift of Villa after this weekend.Better hope Sunderland win.

We also have an awful home record against Villa,we’ve only beaten them once and that was the first PL season.

Of course a result against Spurs may put a different slant on things. ;)

Glass half full, but i fear you may be right, i did say recently survival was dependent on kone and alcaraz remaining fit throughout the run-in

this i feel is THE weekend of all – Villa / Sunderland, Latics /Spurs

IF only black cats can win, then villa last 3 – canaries (a), chelski (h) and latics (a)

bale back / spurs flying, alcaraz out / caldwell back – big ask for latics.

if we fall 6 behind villa come monday next, then with alcaraz out, and intensive run in (every game a must-win) i fear the ask is too much.

MASSIVE WEEKEND ahead.

right now, i think we’d all take a last day showdown versus Villa – good record or not

in reply to: Alcaraz #110689

We were miles better with Ramis too.

A Ramis, Alcaraz, Figueroa back 3 all season long would have kept us way away from relegation.

sorry we weren’t, the goals against column backs up my assertion (2 per game, with OR without …..
We played exactly 3 games this season with Alcaraz and Ramis in the same team. Anybody’s opinion of how we would have played all season with them is obviously conjecture on anybody’s part. But to dismiss my opinion because we conceded 5 goals in those 3 games is quite clearly ridiculous. You’re welcome to disagree with me, and we would not have been significantly better with both players fit all year, but not on that basis.
sorry, let me re-phrase that; what i meant to say was that we were not miles better WITH ramie – we were good for 2 gaols a game with him in the team – we went for some pretty soft goals too (pace, awareness, positional play, getting to grips with PL … lack of)

that kinda stopped when Alcaraz came into the team – how we’ve missed HIM this season and HOW we’re now going to miss him in the run-in

Alcaraz off injured !!!! :(

Jean B is on Figs back to centre back.

Started really well.

Come on Latics

Did say survival was dependent on kone and alcaraz staying fit … hope he’s back very soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in reply to: Blocks #110176
The pricing system does seem a little strange. The £115 block -105, is adjacent and in touching distance of the £85 block 106. Who in their right mind will pay £40 extra for the 10-15 metres nearer to the half way line that block 105 will give you.

Similarly my mates were in the £50 lower level block 110 behind the goals for the semi and was sat two rows behind someone who had paid £30 yellow section.

The annoying thing is, if the full 21,000 tickets are sold and the club ask for the additional 4,000, they will probably include the red sections, 102, 103 and 104.

So if you are thinking of shelling out for the £115 tickets, do you get them on Sunday knowing you will definitely be in block 105 or do you wait for the better blocks to be released, IF we sell the 21,000? :woohoo:

Bird in the hand … etc., make sure you get your ticket (maybe you can always exchange later ?)

JPC, no offense, but I’m not reading any of your posts anymore, I simply can’t stand the way you construct your sentences.

it’s a free world, fella.

none taken

incidentally, offense goes OFFENCE (or you’ve just gone over the pond?) B)
