Someone like Neil Warnock, Mick McCarthy or Phil Brown.

Or Ian Millward
better B)

If speculation is true and Moyes goes to Man U and Martinez replaces him, who would be your choice to take over, Roberto Di Mateo for me ?

Hypothetically speaking of course, Nigel Adkins (but won’t happen)

Learnt a lot at Soton and proved his worth, unlucky to be dismissed.

Blackpool away and Northwich away for me.As stated by a previous poster Blackpool was a great rip snorting cup tie, , fabulous atmosphere great game and replay to boot . Northwich if my memory not totally goosed was abandoned with freezing fog engulfing the ground when we were 3 up , came back for re-arranged game and managed a draw.(please correct me if I’m wrong and I’ll make an appointment with the brain consultant. !!

you’re bag on; was stood next to a copper who ended up with a dart to his nose (made front page of sunday tabloid), courtesy of a Northwich Vic THUG

We won the replay 1-0 if my memory serves me well (scorer: derek brownbill)

that this season, God does not want us to stay up…..

Alcaraz
Beausejour
Figueroa

If the above played tonight, we would have won. Simple as.

with a fit alcaraz throughout the season, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

but all IFs and BUTs ….

Please return to Partick Thistle. Your time is up.

captain fantastic has cost us once again big time.

two key moments in game for me :

– mc Arthurs failure to convert for 3-1, game then effectively over (no easy chance)
– caldwell shocker for 2-2

shot ourselves in the foot big time tonight.

messed up at 1-0 (slow out the traps, second half), got our noses back in front thanks to young james and then screwed up once again

how many poor goals have we conceded recently ? (spurs, whu, wba, swans …); alcaraz factor key; without – we never learn ….

massively disappointing, was there to be had ( … against team with nothing to play for)

At the age of 53 this week’s match will be the best though.

Never ever believed we’d get to the Final. Wish my dad could be there. He’d have loved it.
Same sentiment (in my case 48, grandfather – ex-chairman WAFC (late 50s, 60s) and subsequently vice chairman Lancashire FA – used to take me to the cup final as a kid every year)

little did i think i’d be watching wigan there one day :pinch:

Saturday will be some day

Sure he’ll be looking on in with immense pride (and no doubt telling the lads they need to do a lot better ….. some folk never happy  )

The man deserves a statue outside the ground when he calls it a day on his time running the club.

it should already be there.

must have ‘ annoyed half the country by winning today …. you just won’t go down’

what the feck is that all about?

Could mean 2 things really:

1) we have been pi55ing off the elitism of the premier league for the past 8 seasons now & thus half of the country do indeed want us to go down. But, who cares what they think.

2) it could also mean that we have now dragged other teams into the mire now & that were other teams just lay down & lie, we always come out fighting & never give up.

thanks for your input. think i’ll plump for (1).

from an interviewer an’ all, bloody disgrace, pillock !

We could have done with The Mancs beating Chelsea this afternoon.

We really need them to beat Villa next weekend but if they beat Spurs on Wednesday they may not be so motivated !!

indeed, well spotted, not only that but they’ve also benfica wednesday next to prepare for.

beat spurs (4th spot guaranteed) and benitez will pull another stunt as he did at liverpool when they went down to fulham at craven cottage some years back (contributory factor in sheff utd. being relegated).

warnock had the pleasure of meeting benitez at the leeds / chelsea cup game earlier this season !!

in reply to: Why why why…??? #112267
maybe because he has scored 9 goals from the midfield position he occupies

because his OVERALL contribution to the team has warranted his inclusion (step up on prior year) ….. not just goals (penalties included ….. we’ve already had this discussion)

Credit where due.

I believe the 9 have come from both front 3 / midfield positions he has occupied ….

and the idiot who interviewed Martinez after the game is …?

Go to BBC SPORT for full interview

must have ‘ annoyed half the country by winning today …. you just won’t go down’

what the feck is that all about ?

one or the other manager (ferguson, redknapp etc.) would have torn him to shreds, pity bobby didn’t ….

isn’t it nice to be liked !!!!!

disgraceful

in reply to: 2 cup finals in a week #112235
I think it’s virtually 3 Cup Finals in a week. Would be nice going to Arsenal with the FA CUP under our arm ( cos we’ve not had time to go home ), knowing that three points makes us safe !

4 in 2 !

swansea victory CAN be the catalyst ….

come on !!

in reply to: poor today #112234
Who gives a shit, what do you want, being told how well you have played and losing, or pundits saying we didn’t play well and taking 3 points.

We were fantastic against city and played them off the park, better team against both west ham and spurs and got a total of one point ?????

We didn’t play well today and the defence was all over the place at times, but got 3 points.

Stop being so damn touchy because pundits don’t say what you want to hear.

As I said before more of the same v Swansea.

points only that matter, agreed we’ve played well in many a game, switched off and conceded (arsenal) or failed to capitalise on position / put the ball in the net (city)

three excellent goals saturday (more of the same required); a little more rigour in defence (Alcaraz back ?)

what is without question … the will not to conceded / keep going and remain cool under the upmost pressure.

A win against swansea (no mean feat), and we’re in for the mother of all climaxes to a EPL season.

Come on boys, lets shut all those miserable, anti-Latics feckers up !!!

dream still on (fa cup -win on pens; last day survival). :pinch:

in reply to: citys seats/blocks at wembley #112062
on city forum bluemoon, they are saying they have got blocks upto and including 115 lower and 520 higher.also loads saying they are in our end all over the place.

let them be where they like … the battle will be won ON the pitch (8 years EPL B) )

in reply to: David Jones #112000

Still confused as to where this idea that Jones has more defensive ability than the rest of the midfielders currently at our disposal has come from…

Same.

However, I do recall him playing at left CB earlier this season and he actually had a really good game. Can’t for the life of me remember who it was against.

Might have been Reading?
think you might be right- do recall a one-game stint playing as one of a back line-3
