Griff, in your opinion Gomez isn’t a bad player, in some other peoples opinion he’s not good enough.

I see it time and time again, thread after thread, you think you are intellectually superior to people, and that their opinion doesn’t count because they aren’t as concise as you or it doesn’t fit in with your way of thinking. You’ve said that the board is a waste of your time and you don’t know why you bother, well I for one wish you fuckin didn’t, because it’s you that drags in alot of the inane and repetitive shit on here, get a life man, there’s more to it than typing put downs on a forum surely?!They should all do it, in fact it should be forced on them the greedy gets!

There is no comparison, he’s miles apart from any other player in my opinion.
Although, they are both playing for clubs in the top league in their country, they are both forwards and paid ultimately to score goals, and they both play in passing teams with an emphasis on control and possession……ahem! So there is a comparison, albeit a little unfair ;)
He could be the missing part of the jigsaw, Bobbys 3 year plan might be to teach a load of shitehawks how to play keep ball, then persuade father jack to pay 500 million for Messi, jobs a good un, see you in champions league final!

If he’d said ‘Roberto Martinez’s future at Wigan is secure, he’s done a great job for the club’, then I couldn’t see him getting shut. But he didn’t, and his future is secure, as with all managers for some reason, they just move on to the next project regardless. If he did go he’d walk into another job, it just hasn’t worked for him this season, he isn’t fulfilling his remit of keeping the club in the prem on a shoestring budget, which is a big ask for anyone, but plenty managers have bit the dust recently for alot less than the consistently poor results and lack of goals or even excitement that bobbys team have produced.
Time will tell, but my gut feeling is he will go gracefully and soon, and let’s all be honest, anyone that knows a bit about football could have put a side out today from the players available and couldn’t have done much worse than Bobby did. You just have to wonder what he is trying to do, and why he doesn’t seem to realise it isn’t working, and if he does realise, then why doesn’t he seem to be doing anything about it? That’s what a manager is for, and in any other profession, he’d have been unceremoniously sacked long ago.Griff, I’m sure you’ll agree that Dave Whelan will not let sentiment get in the way of making a decision, and also that anything he’s said in the past can be explained away as the right thing to say at the time etc etc.
My guess is that Whelan will ask for bobbys resignation, and he’ll get it.
Him saying that bobbys future is secure is probably right, but he didn’t say it’s secure at Wigan did he? He’s gone, and to be fair, whoever took over coulcn’t do much worse could they?I’ll stick my neck out, and say that Bobby will be gone within days.
Whelan has maintained an unusual silence throughout an awful campaign by anyone’s standards, for him to call a meeting speaks volumes, for him to make that public spells curtains, only question is, why leave it until now?
One thing is for sure, he won’t give a shite about going back on his word, we’ve seen that all to often!
