Griff, I’m sure you’ll agree that Dave Whelan will not let sentiment get in the way of making a decision, and also that anything he’s said in the past can be explained away as the right thing to say at the time etc etc.
My guess is that Whelan will ask for bobbys resignation, and he’ll get it.
Him saying that bobbys future is secure is probably right, but he didn’t say it’s secure at Wigan did he? He’s gone, and to be fair, whoever took over coulcn’t do much worse could they?

I’ll stick my neck out, and say that Bobby will be gone within days.
Whelan has maintained an unusual silence throughout an awful campaign by anyone’s standards, for him to call a meeting speaks volumes, for him to make that public spells curtains, only question is, why leave it until now?
One thing is for sure, he won’t give a shite about going back on his word, we’ve seen that all to often!

My Mrs reckons you cant get steak puddings in Liverpool which I don’t believe for one minute !!

That’s because they’d have to have a minutes silence for all the cows killed to make them

And if a shop did sell them, the scousers would probably suet…….I’ll get me coat ;)

For what it’s worth, I think Griffs a pompous, arrogant prick too!
And LMB is a boring, negative prick.
And Wiganmon is a brainless, repetitive prick.
And Filmoss is a leyland, window cleaning prick,
And that just about anyone can be described with a couple of traits and a prick on the end!
Me, I’m a well endowed, good looking prick.

Easier said than done, I’ve been speaking with a well respected striker this week, he moved in the summer and Wigan would have been right up his street, fact is they don’t pay what even decent championship clubs pay, and you can’t blame lads for going where the money is can you.

You can only beat what’s in front of you, and it’s a fact that only Ukraine and Germany have beaten his side in a meaningful match, not bad in 4 years in my opinion. It’s a fact that his record is unsurpassed, and also a fact that he didn’t do too bad at club level either.
And if Bethel would beat that lot, then The Wigan Youth side of the eighties would have won the world cup itself! ;)

From what I remember of the world cup, I’d say the players were absolutely gash, there has always been a ridiculous air of expectancy, built up by the media, for a team that is distinctly average. To say capello is crap is just pathetic, as a manager at club level he has a record comparable with ferguson, the media just love to build things up only to be able to put the boot in when those false expectations aren’t met, they’ve done it for a long time in all sports.
I’d suggest that England’s problems lie with the players being too big for their boots, lacking in discipline and not being anywhere near as good as they think they are, ffks sake, Rooney’s even saying who should be the next manager, and his comments on the next manager has “got to be English” is no less racist than saying he has to be white, ignorant prick that he is!

Utd would get away with that formation if Howard Webb was reffing!

                      “Crapello”?
He lost 2 games as England manager, with a bunch of hugely over rated and self important tossers, if you think that makes him crap you need to have a word with yourself!

Might get a game ahead of rodders, he’s defo missed more home games than you over the last few years!

He didn’t go because no one would meet his wage demands, the guy has a high opinion of himself, one which obviously not many others agree with. If QPR offered 4 million, and would have met his personal terms he would have gone, no doubt about it.
What he’s done now is almost guarantee a higher weekly wage from next season, because wherever he goes won’t have a signing on fee to pay, that will be figured into his deal.
I don’t rate him any better than the likes of jermaine beckford, in fact for 2.5 million I’d have had him here in a shot and got rid of that over rated lazy two hat.

I think this is the problem, “the ONLY way you can get wins is affecting the performance”.
That’s wrong, there’s ways to get wins even with a bad performance, and any team needs to win ugly aswell. If utd only ever picked up 3points when they have a top performance, they wouldn’t have won much I assure you, I admire his philosophy, but with those players and in the position were in I don’t think it’s appropriate, dependent on whether the club are bothered about the drop, which I don’t think they are, so if he’s sticking with that philosophy in readiness for next season then fair play to him, it’s no fun now but maybe in time it pays dividends?
I liken what he’s doing with the total football of arsenal, and they blow hot and cold, sometimes woeful but others absolutely majestic, but their players are streets ahead of what we have, so although I admire the football philosophy that bobby has, I think it’s sheer stupidity with the tools at his disposal, and he did buy the majority of those tools himself.

Status is one thing they get out of it, a bit like paying a few hundred grand for a supercar, when a ford focus would get you there just the same.
Another thing is free international advertising for any businesses you have, I’d imagine tv ads in Japan etc wouldn’t be cheap.
Depending on how they run the ‘business’, certain money making streams, like shirt sales, image rights etc, could be run through seperate companies, which would obviously be quite profitable, but keeps the club in debt. But as the club itself is a saleable asset, with these revenue streams available, then the owner always has some ‘collateral’ to service the debt.
They probably do it just to get shut of money that they’d otherwise just be paying to a taxman, there’s got to be a financial benefit somewhere, these guys live and breathe money. And politically, they must get top brownie points, because the revenue to the government through players taxes, the economy in general (transport/ hospitality etc) has to be absolutely colossal.
And that my friends is why it will never stop, and no financial fair play b*llocks will change anything.
                                Money talks, fairness walks.
