The game on Saturday is massive. Lose and Wigan will be at least 4 points from 17th place, and realistically 5 when you consider the goal difference.

Away to a side at the top of the league who had scored 14 goals in their previous two games against the Latics. Maybe he’d decided that this game was one where the best result he could get was a 1-0 defeat and to keep his goalscorers fresh for the next 6 games where the chances of getting 9+ points are much higher.I would suggest that Bob is secretly chuffed that neither his key players nor his goal difference took any significant injury on Saturday.
