I never said it’s a wind-up (though sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t) I said I don’t take it seriously and find it amusing that others do.
And, yet again, with this thread, you are proving very easy to reel in.
First time I’ve posted for around a year maybe, been logging in and seeing it all, however it’s really lost some of its characters. Seems to be same folk driving newer posters away, or same folk stamping down on any craic that is generated.
Hope it gets a little busier next year, and the temporary poor form of the team is short lived with it.
And that’s why my grandson (and some of his friends) stay clear of commenting on this board.

I think it’s more pity than annoyance.
I have always thought it unfair that a defender can be shown a red card for a foul to denying a goal scoring opportunity when deemed to be the last man yet an attacker only gets a yellow for diving.
Surely showing a straight red to an attacker for diving in the penalty box would be a deterrent against this kind of cheating.
Absolutely spot on Sammy, but it the age old problem of proving what was or what was not a dive and in a massive game the ref would again feel the pressure and be liable to make mistakes.[/quote]

To be fair, by & large that system has worked pretty well since organised football began. People make mistakes from time to time but in all fairness referees get the vast majority of their decisions correct – except me who gets them all right

It could be perfectly acceptable for this panel of experts to return a verdict of “not proven” in cases where they still aren’t sure, even after reviewing the video evidence. If it stops the obvious cheats, where’s the problem?
Nah, I don’t think that it’d workSimilar to what jr says – there’s still too much grey area. personally I don’t believe that even the faintest touch can bring someone crashing to the ground like they’ve been shot, but if you remember in the champions league a good few years back some Arsenal player got a retrospective ban for diving.
Arsenal appealed & pulled out some evidence from somewhere showing that there had been the most minimal of contact & further to that produced some expert who claimed that even though it looked like next to nothing that coz of his speed it would have brought him down.
UEFA then rescinded the banStill looked like a dive to me & countless others – don’t get me wrong, some are obvious but there’s still too many that aren’t clear enough or there’s top much dispute over, meaning any club would bring in the lawyers if they’re then docked 6 points

McLean gives his all every game, has power, pace and does generally give 100% … he just cant cross a ball. If he were to play in the middle up front, he can certainly cause some hassle to the centre backs, would chase the keeper down and hopefully do what our other strikers (when played) cant at the moment and score a goal. Im certainly not against trying this out, playing him as a centre forward – lets face it what have we to lose ?
The bottom line is that, for whatever reason, he clearly doesn’t fancy Delort to play there. Therefore, I agree with you, it’s as good an option as any. He may as well run blindly into the penalty area before losing the ball than run blindly down the line and in to touch.
Plus, he will run around all day, which is all that lots of our fans want to see.[/quote]
I like your use of the word ‘Blindly’ as I have nicknamed him ‘The Blind Alley Kid’Ha ha ha ! Every time he picks the ball up I comment ” There he goes, off down a blind alley” To me he comes across as being like the kid who can’t get into the school team on a regular basis, but when he does get a run out he comes across as trying too hard![/quote]

I always worry when I see the term “panel of experts”?
Experts on diving would have to be ex-players, who could call on their own game experience as well as looking at the footage.Yep, and maybe some referees.
It could potentially work in the Premier League where there are many camera angles, but it would be difficult to implement in the lower leagues.Behave, who cares what happens outside the Premier League? ;) But fair point
Despite all the doom and gloom on here for the last week or two I for one am looking forward to Saturdays match.I reckon Malky has seen enough of everyone now to put out his favoured line up and we will turn the corner with a good win against Rotherham and start to storm our way up this mediocre league.
A good run in the FA Cup will further lift the gloom as we move in to the New Year and aim for Wembley on two fronts.I look forward to every game Horc, but I know what you mean. Couldn’t quite believe it to see we were 4 points adrift of safety after Saturday. Quite sure we won’t be there for too much longer. Needs to turn it around quite quickly, though
