Powell ran up to the keeper to pressurise him and as the keeper whacked it up field, Powell just turned his back on him and stood his ground.
When the ball had gone, for no reason at all their keeper jumped on Powells’ back, Powell then got him off his back and they the faced up to each other.
Meanwhile, the ball was at the other end and the ref turned round to see them at each other and blew up and ran back. The linesman obviously must have made him aware of everything, and probably spoke to the referee through his earpeice to get back and sort it out.
Fortunately common sense prevailed (although we thought it started in the area and was going to be a penalty). We probably would have missed a penalty so a free kick was better.

Pretty much a 100% accurate account of the events that, Horc. I don’t know why, but something made me keep watching Powell after the keeper had kicked the ball. Maybe because Powell’s a snidey shit and I half expected something to kick-off. Didn’t expect it to end so well in our favour, though! Most useful contribution Powell has ever made!

You do know I was on a wind up with folk yesterday? I did post and say. I wanted to see who bit and if people ARE actually bothered any more, due to the poor turn out yesterday. I was being very sarcastic with a lot of what I posted…obviously too realistically.

Dave, neither of you two know how to do a proper wind-up. What you’re referring to is desperate back-tracking.

And you’re right, me popping up at the same time as you last night was no coincidence. Someone alerted me to the fact that you were providing free entertainment again, so I thought I’d take a quick look while watching the Masters. I’m going to go back now to watching the azaleas grow on Magnolia Drive – far more interesting.

Tell us about your time in the Falklands!

I don’t like to big up the fact that I was part of a 7 man special forces team that infiltrated the airstrip at Port Stanley and destroyed 6 Argentinian Pucara fighter jets, and killed 17 Argentinians in the process.

It is but a distant memory from my days with the regiment. But I still get flashbacks from killing an Argie by shoving a flashbang down his pants. He was bopping about like Michael Jackson, until Spud Mcfadden tapped the poor bugger.

I’ve said enough.
I too, have been away from this forum for a long time. I am so, so glad I came back tonight to read the biggest pile of unadulterated, deluded bullshit I have ever read.

Falklands?! Methinks you’re getting your Goose Greens mixed up.

Dave, all joking apart, get yourself some help.

Really, lad.
Go and support someone else. You keep threatening to go “back” to supporting Everton, or whoever. If you miss the last few games, we don’t care.
Do it please. Go and support a “better” team. I’ve supported you a number of times in the past, but you really are pushing buttons now.
You are constantly negative, constantly carping, constantly complaining about this that or the other.
Yes, we have had a bad, nay abysmal, season. But that’s par vfor the course with Latics. It’s what you sign up to. We have had good times too. These things are cyclical. The true supporters (and don’t tell me how you were at Hartlepool in 1902), stick by the club. We may not be happy. But we will still be there, not only for the next few games, but also next season.
Don’t tell us what a great fan you are, but “you’re not going the next few games”.
Either stick with us, and get behind whoever and whatever, or just go elsewhere.

Don’t misquote me George. I’ve never said that. I’ve never ever supported Everton. I’ve had a season ticket at Latics since 1986…you know that. You once bought a signed 1987 team photo off me!

Read my comment on the other thread….maybe you’ll see where I’m coming from. My anger is that we could….and should be so much better. There’s been a slight improvement since Joyce went and Barrow came in, I’ll admit that. But what does this say about Joyce? What WAS he playing at? We’re they playing hop scotch in training sessions? And ultimately, he was given too much time by the powers that be. Had we acted 2 or 3 weeks sooner, we may have had a chance. That’s what grates me.

I am going to miss these last 3 games, simply because I don’t want to lose my rag again, like I did today and had to leave, and I don’t want to fall out with folk who.sit near me, as was starting today. I think that’s being sensible George, don’t you? It’s not wanting to miss the games, but maybe it’s for the best in this particular instance.

Maybe I just want better for the club. To defend tight, if an opponent is to score, make them blooming work for it! I can take losing, I can take losing goals. But not the way we have done this season. Elements of that game today were Sunday league esque. Going forward, maybe Bogle and Grigg will be on fire next season, I don’t know. Who knows?

But before you attack me for being honest and speaking my mind, just consider that maybe I am so upset…because I care. That’s all. We can be so much better, and that’s what hurts most.
I think missing games because you’re losing your rag with people around you is eminently sensible, especially for you. You should have done it years ago. You take Latics and it’s fans far more seriously than they do you.

$420?

At what exchange rate? We need to know.

You really don’t. I’ve seen your predictions :)

Thanks to those of you who have already signed-up. Just three days left if anyone else wants to play.

Go on, put me down for it.

Sorry pal, only just seen this. Are you like the Queen then, don’t get your hands dirty by registering yourself ;) No worries, I’ll add you.

I’ve also taken the liberty of hijacking your earlier Wednesday Night Football post on Facebook. I’m sure you won’t mind!

in reply to: Euro 2016 Prediction League #148774

Haha! Good spot. I wondered what you were on about for a minute.

Scotland still didn’t qualify for it ;)

Great minds PSKL

Oh yeah, I must be wrong if you have a different opinion. I’d forgotten that’s how it works.

It’s still Perkins. Anyone who knows football will tell you that

Where’s Parakeet

He’s off somewhere with Orrell Blonde.

Or is it George Bush?

in reply to: Lurker #145986

Some people have too much time on their hands.

Glad I was never like that

in reply to: Got to give it to them tonight. #145983

I will say it again our two centre midfielders are too square of each other and don’t fill the box when we go forward unlike Burton when they scored they had four in the box waiting for that goal

I’m not really sure what offends you so much about Perkins, but I’ll give you your dues, you’re persistent with it.
Player of the season so far by a country mile

in reply to: How Long Before “Bottom Four Bob” #145381
… but did you even listen to a word I told you on our walk to the ground on several occasions?

Don’t be fucking stupid, of course I didn’t listen! I even asked Eddie to open the back door of the beer garden on a few occasions so I could escape that way without bu,ping in to you lot.

But as you said earlier only 80% of your stuff is wind-up. I think your Swansea/Caldwell stuff falls into the 20% that you actually believed but back-tracked in the face of overwhelming opposition. I imagine so anyway, I really couldn’t be arsed reading it. Someone told me about it yesterday in the pub.

And for the record, despite there being a lot of people on here who think I am a wind-up merechant, nothing could be further from the truth. 99% (I haven’t done the actual math) of what I post on here is what I actually think and will stand by.

Finally, the liar comment wasn’t aimed at you. The bullshitter one was, though. But, if you say 80% of what you post is wind-up then you are, by definition, a bullshitter 80% of the time ;)

Anyway, goodbye. Clearly nothing to see here

in reply to: How Long Before “Bottom Four Bob” #145380

Its like fishing in one of those pay on the day pits around Eccy and Mawdesley Fil. A bite a chuck. That Bobby bait works a treat. Don’t even need groundbait. Moonay could catch in them and he cant catch fish!

The irony is that the whole thread is a piss take yet the gullible repeatedly fall for it! :)
What utter, utter bullshit!! You lot are nowhere near clever or subtle enough to have manufactured a wind-up like this. Not a fucking chance! Jesus!
