Interesting term of phrase on the second line of the first paragraph.

Interesting that you should use the – as it happens, incorrect – phrase “term of phrase” when what you should have said – to be correct – was “turn of phrase”.

it sort of precludes you from arguing about the relative correctness of, well er, other turns of phrase, doesn’t it? Well, it does in my opinion which, as we have apparently already established on this forum, is the only opinion that is allowed.

Sorry I couldn’t resist this, it made me chuckle in the club shop is a T shirt with FA CUP CHAMPIONS we know what we are , I think that ends the debate .

Really? Irony lost on you then?

They’ve produced the t-shirt like that because that’s how it’s sung. Not becasue it’c correct. Bit patronising really, but it doesn’t matter because those that think that FA Cup Champions is correct won’t know what patronising means anyway.

He is a striker. We don’t need strikers. Well we didn’t last night at QPR.

Aye, aye – Alan Hansen’s back.

in reply to: Internet SF tickets tomorrow from 12pm! #128970

The announcer chap said it about 2.50pm and the club website has been updated.

Basically internet sales to ST holders from 12pm tomorrow, no phone sales until Monday as previously announced.

Just thought I’d mention it; it might save someone a journey and queue tomorrow :cheer:

Its not like Wigan to have a shocking communication about such an important event such as this. Why leave it till most people are in the bar to announce it….

They should sack the communications officers at the club.
So they announce it in the ground because most of the club’s real fans would hear it there and everybody else gets the news via the club’s offical website. What do you want them to do, drive round to your house and tell you in person? Actually, knowing you, you probably do. You don’t half like a good moan you, do you?
Well most of the players pass my house on the way to the training ground each day, so yep that would be ideal if they could pop in and let me know.

All I ever ask is that the club acts professionally, and time and time again they show they dont have a clue. Why not inform people well in advance, say when the tickets going on sale was announced, use of email to say season ticket holders.

And no, thankfully you dont know me griff.
Everybody else seems perfectly happy with the arrangements and has got the tickets sorted with the minimum of fuss. The club is perfectly entitled to adapt its arrangement as it sees fit as circumstances change. It certainly doesn’t need to explain its each and every action to a whining get like you every five minutes. We’ve already established with the FA Cup photo op situation that you expect the club to wipe your arse for you. I think you are in a very small minority – like a minority of one.

And no, thankfully you dont know me griff.

You got that right, at least.

He loves his Spanish men he really does ! Ditch the shirt !

Oh dear, the stalker is back. Obsessed lad, aren’t you?

If you ask LMB nicely, he’ll offer a day out with Griff as one of the raffle prizes and you might be lucky enough to win it.

There was a cast of thousands queueing up to take that photo.

Thought Jordi was absolutely immense yesterday. Not only is he picking out the defence splitting passes but he is now getting stuck in AND he must have covered every single blade.

It still didn’t stop a couple of morons near us giving him grief late on though. It’s interesting to note that since Uwe arrived Jordi has probably played more than anyone – maybe Uwe can see something that our brains trust can’t.

Can’t wait for him to be picked for the PFA team of the year.

He has a mean choice in post-match photo ops, too ;)

in reply to: WEMBLEY COACH FARES #128864

Looks like Vital Latics have got the other coach companies to reduce their fares to £30.00, the same as Vital Latics charged last year and are again charging this year, which also allows them to make a donation to the JOESPH Joseph’s Goal APPEAL :) Joseph’s Goal

Thanks a lot, we have even tried to go a little further this time by doing an under 12s kids seat for £22, from the outset it has always been our aim to give our supporters the best possible deal.

If I can continue blowing our own Trumpet we are also THE ONLY operator that is offering multi pickups and drop offs from all over Wigan, and will not be plonking our passengers at some over priced Motorway Service Station for a refreshment stop.
Not quite ‘only’. My minibus will be doing the same ;)
Like minded thinking  ,

I can fix you all up with a pre booked meal on the way down if you like, where your drinks are waiting on your own numbered table, all for 7 quid each (3.50 kids.
I am sure it would only enhance your trip and leave all your Wembley time for pure alcohol consumption.
No thanks, we’re good!

in reply to: Another ticket offer…£40 for 3 games #128856

Announced today…£40 for Leicester, Leeds and Millwall games.

Good move, £13.33 a game when they’re coming thick and fast, or should that be fast, slow and thick ;)

Good to see the club trying to get bums on seats at the business end of the season. So long as no individual ticket is sold for less than a ST holder has paid per game. I paid £315 for WS4 block 26 games…£12.12. What was the cheapest ST this season?

Why not? You bought a season ticket that gave you your guarenteed seat at a price that you were presumably happy with, along with preferential treatment when it comes to ticket sales for cup and away games, etc. It doesn’t give you the right to dictate how the club should sell tickets for other seats.
Indeed, the decision to purchase a season ticket, on pricing grounds, is taken in comparison with individual ticket prices as announced at the time.

The problem comes if say 6 months down the line, the club sells individual tickets for less than ST holders paid. This offer has it spot on, a good deal for non ST’s but still a bit more expensive than ST’s paid. 3 home games in a week is a lot to pay out when the extras add up.

As you say, there are other advantages to season tickets to take into account. Not forgetting the 10% discount at Sharpys

I wouldn’t dream of dictating how the club sells tickets…but all ST holders have a choice to renew or not. I will be there next season of course, but ST renewals are likely to drop if we’re still in the Championship.
You’re contradicting yourself! You say you wouldn’t dream of dictating but then say they shouldn’t sell individual tickets less than a season ticket price. Once you choose to buy a seaosn ticket, you exclude yourself from any deals the club may choose to offer down the line. You know they might do that, so you could choose to not buy a season ticket and wait for any such offers, or buy it with all the benefits (how could I have forgotten about Sharpy’s?!) that come with it.

As Tobin Bell would say: “The choice is yours!”

in reply to: Jason Roberts Retires. #128851
I demand image rights for being in that shot !

Ask the club to sort it olut for you – you seem to want them to organise everything else for you ;)

    Top bloke latics legend

    Yep, legend.

Apart from when he left in a sulk because he wasn’t getting as much as Heskey.

    Just saying.
