As it has taken 15 years to grow our fanbase by 15,000+ – from 1841 in 94/95 to 18,413 last season, is it not fair to assume it will be another 7-10 years or so until we reach 25,000?
please mr whelen give bobby a 3 year extension to his contact i think he is doing wonders for latics which other manager has seen his side lose 9-1, lose in the 2 knock out cups to lower divison teams in the major one 2-0 to a side 3 divisons below them at home and lost 10-0 to man utd over 2 games all in one season please please mr whelen extend his contract. come on bruces team you can get 5 this afternoon

It starts at the top when the big teams who can afford big squads started playing a second string, so they could focus on the riches of the Premiership and Champions Laegue. Teams like Wigan, desperate to get to the Prem, followed suit. All in the pursuit of money.The big question is how to reverse this trend and again I’m a simple soul, so my answer is very one dimensional. Winners go into Champions League. That one action would trigger the greed in almost all clubs, desperate to qualify. that would revitalise interest overnight.
Surely this would make it a European Cup winners Cup, if the rest of Europe followed suit. Oh hang on, hasn’t that been done already and is now the Europa League?? Maybe the top 4 or 6 (and Newcastle of course :lol: ) should just feck off and fight it out with their Euro counterparts eh??
As somebody pointed out today (about Monday):
Did the ticket office close/ – NO
Did the main building/reception close? – NO
Did the Club Shop close? – NO
Did the retail park close? – NODid Latics take any measures in the days previous to Monday to prevent the build up of ice? – NO
Did they attempt to make any efforts to shift the ice after they hadn’t done the previous? – NOWould conditions have been worse than todays if the effort had been put in then? – DOUBTFUL
I used to go as well, in the Stone Roses, Happy Monday etc era. Was a crackin night although not very well attended, prob due to llack of advertising.
