no , what has been explained is that footy is a global game etc etc blah blah blah
what has not been explained is the complete lack of home grown talent or the reasons for it :?
lets swap this around ……
if you are running a business , would you want one of your apprentices to maybe make the grade ??
c’mon lets have some honesty on here , are none of the latics fans even the slightest bit bothered by this ?
you better be praying this is wrong , if we ever get our own stadium , your lot will be in the brown sticky stuff financially
and you are mind numbingly stupid
Latics are not the only team in this situation it across the board, how many Manchester born players play for City or United, how many Everton born players play for Everton, hoe many Liverpool born players play for Liverpool, the same can be asked about all Top Flight Football teamsthey have more locally produced players than wafc will ever have
seems im right then , you are deluded if you think its all well and good not to have a strong , or for that matter , any kind of youth policy and its fine just to keep bringing in the foreign mercenaries
what did Whitney once sing ” i believe the children are our future ” ?
obviously doesnt apply in the fairy tale gaga land of premiership fooSball ,but more relative to this discussion , wafc .
you are heading for a big fall my pedigree chums :!:
what has RL being a smaller sport in comparrison to foozball got to do with anything ??
It has everything to do with your ridiculous argument that you expect the global game of football to be awash with native Wiganers just because the parochial game of rugby league has a few of them in it.
no , not the entire game , but your own club should have a sprinkling at least ??
what has RL being a smaller sport in comparrison to foozball got to do with anything ??
then who ever this arky is would be a very sad individual
i could do , but its a rhetorical question , so no
unbelievable drivel
Feel free to keep passing things off as drivel because you fail to understand them. I shall try again and make it as simple as possible for you:
You seem to have only two things to say
1 ) lots of professional Rugby players come from Wigan
2 ) not too many professional footballers come from WiganThe reasons for this as several people have tried to get you to register in that tiny little brain of yours is that
1 ) hardly anyone plays rugby league outside of Wigan and a few other Northern towns so the fact that Wigan RL produces lots of players is not impressive, it is entirely logical given that statistically not many people outside of the M62 corridor ever bother to even learn how to play the game
2 ) By contrast, nearly every area of the country, indeed nearly every country in the world plays football therefore given a larger pool of players to select from, it is not inconceivable that football players may have originated from somewhere a little bit further afield than Thatto Heath or Woolston.
You seem to be trying to compare two completely different ball games, one of which you definitely know nothing about and I’m starting to have doubts about the other one.
hardly anyone plays RL outside of wigan.?
try opening your eyes to the massive amateur game that is thriving . oxford and cambridge uni’s , the armed forces the midlands, i could go on ..again , you go on about the global game of football , fair enough , so that is the excuse you will continue to role out to hide the fact you do not produce any quality youngsters ???
ok , you say it is not a problem.
why are the football authorities , both nationally and internationally trying to address a problem that you say doesnt exist or even worse doesnt matter ?get your heads out of the sand
see , its at this point your bitterness starts to pour out , the entire paragraph is just nonesense
You might want to learn how to spell the word before accusing people of talking it.
It seems you also missed the English class at school where punctuation, capitalisation and basic grammar were covered.
You might be a big hitter on your own little bubble of a board where the world begins and ends at the Thelwall Viaduct but please remember there is a big bad world out there.
I personally see the fact that so many RL players come from Wigan as a complete failure on the sport’s part to expand beyond it’s natural heartlands ( well a handful of Northern towns where it is nearly as big as football )
I’m sure you would love to see Africans, Americans – North and South, Europeans, Asians let alone Geordies, Cockneys, Brummies and Midlanders playing top class rugby league but the fact is no-one is interested.
And no-one is interested in the nonsensical, hysterical drivel you seem to be spouting on here. Go back to your cavemen friends and tell each other that someone cares. We don’t
well done that man ! how long did that take you?
or did you just cheat and click ‘spell check’ ?i must apologise for the grammatical errors in my previous post , please forgive me for my totally unreadable comments
again though , i see no connection between foozball being global and your lot not producing the future of the club
then we have the comment that producing your own is a ‘complete failure’
that just about sums up the mentality . as long as you have your cash cow in big dave to continue to bank roll a failing team you remain deluded
i suppose man utd ‘completely failed’ in the production of giggs , beckham , scholes , butt , the nevilles etc , liverpool with gerrard and carragher, west ham with ferdinand and cole ??
unbelievable drivel
Is it just coincidence, or is there something to read into the fact that all ‘jewels’ posts on this thread are prior to 8:30am or after 4:30pm.I think we may just have to wait for the next nonsensical replies later today when the school bell goes, or he puts his sweeping cart away.
nice cushy job pal , tend to keep some nice easy hours 8-)
griff says ..
The fact that football is global means that far more people around the world play it and so there is therefore statistically less chance of you finding Wiganer’s playing for professional clubs. That said, there are Wigan lads playing proferssional football (Andy Griffin, Chris Porter).
i did acknowledge the fact that some wigan lads had made it, garry walsh being the example i used .
my point is not about the global game as you well know , it is the terrible fact that you as a club produce ZERO young players that make itAs only about 65 people play rugby league globally and one of the few places it is played is Wigan it stands to reason that there would be more Wiganers playing the game professionally. I wouldn’t expect a professional rugby league player from a far flung location such as, oh I don’t know, say Crewe, because no fu**er there has ever played the game.
see , its at this point your bitterness starts to pour out , the entire paragraph is just nonesense
As for no-one answering your question, what’s the point? It’s a rhetorical question* because we all and you know the answer is none. But so what because, contrary to what you say, no Latics fan gives a flyer if there is a lad from Wigan in the team or not.
so what  ?
you are honestly saying you would not like wigan talent playing for wafc ? honestly !?
you also speak for every other wigan fan ? all 7 of them ?the more i read comments like this vain attempt at trying to convince not only me , but yourself that you dont care , the more you confirm the fact that you actually do .
in typical ‘tics fashion though you cannot let yourself agree with a lodger / chubbie / egg chaser etc etchow many home grown players in the current latics first team ?
At least 8, that’s the rules. Read up on what is considered ‘Homegrown’ in the Premier League ruling.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal … 858634.stm
oh yes , arsenal are full of homegrown talent with those rules arent they ?
your too late anyway sir , the question has allready been answered
fact…we get bigger crowds than you!!!WTF does it matter were the lads come from who play for your team. I support Wigan Athletic, thats my team and always will be no matter who puts on the blue and white shirt.
I’ve been watching and cheering on Europe in the Ryder cup today and guess what…..not one feker came from Wigan. It really doesn’t matter sunshine.
And by the way, take all the over seas players out of your shower of shyte and you wouldn’t have a team good enuff to beat owdum ruffyeds.PS; Nice to see one of your home growners winning the MOM award at OT. ;)
Oh and finally “We don’t have any home grown players currently in our first team” that good enough for you, now do one!!
we have a winner :!: :!: :!: :!:
bar a few bits of that rant you almost made a modicum of sense .
it does matter though , the fact there are no wigan players in the wigan team , regardless of it not concerning you , it will matter to others , that is a fact .
you obviously have a passion for the team that sounds deep rooted , possibly dating back to the dark ages , surely you must agree that churning out your own players , seeing the lads come through the ranks gives a greater sense of accomplishment .
you also get more from these players , a greater commitment than any pay cheque can buy ?regarding the removal of our imports going and then not beating owdham , you couldnt be more wrong . strength in depth , thats what we have right now , lads just waiting for their chance
MOM , a homegrowner came a very close second , closer than any wigan footballer will ge the mom for wafc 8-)
problems being stored up for the future
aaahhh , so you can type not just click the smilies eh laughing boy , lets try it …..

it works at this end too
