i fear i will never see england win a major tournament .
untill there is a complete reform of the english game the national side will never compete. the domestic game is too powerfull
it needs something like what the ECB did , removing the cream of english cricket from the control of the counties , taking complete control of what the top 1% do , when they play , train , rest etc
this will never happen though due to the obscene amounts of money sloshing around in the PL .
it is slowly killing football
take rooneys reaction to the fans , that just proved how far detached a little runt like him has become from the average fans
shame :lol :D : :lol:once again , another quality , constructive post
standish
does the outpouring of national pride in this country happen during the cricket world cup ?
same could be asked for any other world cup you care do think of , although i would keep my powder dry , at least untill weds . you may see a different national emotion and a few car flags in the gutter
we are all well aware that football is massive , there is no need to try to hammer that point home , we get it .
young girls are now growing up wanting to be a ‘wag’
as regards the pubs being full , again , its a pretty tenuous link , its more of a social thing in my book .
example ? a team gets to a cup final at wembley , lets say the average attendance for the season has been 10k , all of a sudden there are 40k at the final .i dont think anybody has said that people in wigan arent intereseted in football , what has been said is wigan hasnt produced many footballers , both the town and club itself but as has allready been eluded to , it has produced champions in other sports
to be honest , i dont really see what you are getting at , and i wasted enough of my life reading the first 5 pages of this thread in the first place to start going back and looking through your posts
you are correct one thing though , you do not impress me , or a few others by the looks of the last few replys .
being arrogant and condescending to others is a pretty poor way of getting your point across and is generally a sign of someone who is struggling to win the debate so feels the need to resort to insultsyou know nothing of me or my home circumstance
dont try to pad out another post with more verbal diorrhea in a vane attempt to impress the masses
so , with world cup fever gripping the country , is it not beyond the realms of imagination there will be the inevitable bandwagon jumpers just going along to fit in regardless of the geography knowledge/ignorance ?
congratulations , another quality post
ffs , grow up people
never heard/read so much sh1te in my life
the O/P was worried about a train station being full , so what !???
are you really that deluded that you think every tics fan is from springfield???
WHAT DOES IT MATTER !!!???
standish , you go on about flags etc ?
my wife has 2 on her car , she didnt even know where the world cup was being played ffs !!!its all the chubbys fault
id hardly say he was ever one of englands best striker ??
even when he was at LFC , he just held the ball up for owen
for a striker his goal return is pretty poor where ever he has been
What the hell does it matter?dont you dare talk sense !!!
6 September 2009 at 1:26 pm in reply to: It looks like both clubs are struggling to get bums on seats #8139mother feka ?? :?:
as ive said before in previous posts , i just call it as i see it
there is no point in anybody coming on here and taking the slash about crowd numbers when we get such a low turn out agianst manure ??
how many travelled to goodison , 4 maybe 500?2 seasons ago there was getting on for 20 thow for the same game , face it , the jcl’s have dropped off the bandwagon
im getting tired of the bickering between the 2 sets of fans , what does it matter ??
we have enough problems of our own without trying to big ourselfs up agianst a different sport for gods sake :!:
5 September 2009 at 10:31 pm in reply to: It looks like both clubs are struggling to get bums on seats #8113what the warriors got against hull last night and what the ‘tics got against manure , who is doing better ?? :|
take away the manure fans who turned up and the people who just turned up to see them ???
I see your an half empty kind of guy.
Martinez had the opportunity to join Celtic (or maybe it was another club) but chose Wigan.
I do understand that money does talk but you are a plonker if you think that any manager just does the job for the money.
With your analysis then no one is going to fit the managerial post because they are “only here for the money”.My post wasn’t about whether or not he is a Wiganer, my post is about the fact he is trying to bring a new style of football and all you moaning, doubters should just give him a chance.
Again I say so what if we go down. I was there at springfield park and I will be there after the prem.
I cant say it would be a shock if all you doubting jcl just jump ship to another team thats up and coming.
City is just down the road, so why not go and moan about them instead….Rant over :D
yes , apperentley celtic where after him at the same time , but given a choice , most managers at any level , would jump at the chance of a premiership side
if they dont do it for the money , what do they do it for ?
i work to live , they are no different in principalby my analysis no one is going to fit the managerial post ??
get a grip , what do most average footballers do when they retire ? they go into some form of coaching , some are better at it than others so get remunerated on a grander scaleyour post , and i quote ”Martinez is a Wiganer through and through” , so what are we to take form that statement ?
i havent actually critisced martinez have i ?
if i have , please feel free to show me where ?im a realist , nothing more , nothing less , i tell it how i see it . i see very little loyalty in football today
john terry was bummed up for staying at chelsea , yeah , iwould have stayed where i was reasonably happy for a lot more cash and a longer contract . he used the city offer to get more coin out of chelsea yet was hailed as a hero after a long delay in anouncing he would be staying ??
.Martinez is a Wiganer through and through.
if you think he is here , along with 99% of every other footballer and manager , for anything else other than the cash then you are deluded my friend
it is a profession , a job , he , along with others (players) see’s the club as a stepping stone to further his managerial or playing career
Please enlighten me and tell me:How much should DW spend?
Who should he buy?
How much should he invest with no return?
What is your current occupation?I look forward to your answers.
the point of the above is what exactly ???
what does my occupation have to do with anything ???
this , and other similar forums are where people are allowed to voice their opinion , get over it
the tic’s are in a bad place at the moment , big dave was quiet happy to take all the back slapping when things where going well , he , and the pro DW brigade , should now be man enough to take the criticism of frustrated fans when things look to be going tits up at a rapid rate of knots
Once again…NO Dave Whelan means NO Wigan Athletic: FACT!!!
once again your talking bollox
yes he has bankrolled the success of the club , but the club will still be here after DW has long gone
