What a journey!JR Fat whatever thi name is…. a saying that has stood me in good stead over the years is.Tha con tawk to a mon wi a wooden leg….tha cawnt talk to a mon wi a wooden yed.
And with that I bid you good night
p.s. lightside / darkside get a feckin grip your supposed to be grown men supporting the same football team
Look Terrance, the term darkside and lightside is general terminology being used to help categorise the views of Wigan fans. It’s not something I’ve made up, but in an adult way I can understand where both camps are coming from. Is it being childish? don’t think so matey.
Oh and by the way your hair needs cutting I suggest you book an appointment with your local joiner. B) :P

What a journey! The new Wembley is crap, I prefer the old one.The semi finals shouldn’t be there only the final.
Will I be going? Of course.
Did you ever go to the old wembley? It was a shyte hole and you had to sit sided saddle to get your legs in. :woohoo:

What a journey! All should be sorted once the training facilities have been given a facelift.
Again forward thinking by bobby, he knows a state of the art full size training pitch indoors will negate the need for these trips away. However, for reasons highlighted by some posters I’m right behind um being allowed to loze round a pool after two hard training sessions in scorching heat.

What a journey!Jonny, with all due respect we have been in the top flight for 8 seasons on the bounce now and people STILL say to me it’s a rugby town ! Also the media STILL don’t really take us seriously and often hint that the clock is ticking. As for the BBC and MOTD ! Don’t get me started ! FA Cup win for me, the very fact that WAFC will be on the roll of honour and something else that no Wiganer can have ever have envisaged in their life ! Preston won the FA Cup ( Twice ) and look at them now but ask any Nob Ender about history and they will gladly remind you that they DID indeed win the cup twice. Even AFC Wimbledon have triangle corner flags at Kingsmeadow despite MK Dons really being the previous winners of the cup ( Debatable amongst fans of both clubs ! ) and they are proud of that history, a history that can NEVER be taken away from them ( try telling one of their fans that they have never won the FA Cup ! ) The FA Cup to me will always be special and it is such a shame that a money orientated monster has come between it and the fans. All the lower league teams still left in the competition including a certain Blue Square Premier side will cherish their respective big days out in the coming few days, it will provide a break from the norm and humdrum of their usual match day experiences just as our latest cup exploits have to many fans but in a strange reverse scenario ! We aint had a great deal to cheer about this season and so why not lift morale and have something that is within touching distance, silverware that is there to be won, something that can NEVER be taken from us !
And Phil, with all due respect you’ve just reinforced my argument!
Wigan RL have been, arguably, the most famous British Rugby League team since around 1923, whilst we’ve been in the top league of English football for just eight of the last hundred-and-odd years.
Now that Rugby League is not the media’s pet project that it was in the early 90s, and English football is being televised across the world, the longer we stay in the Premier League, the more exposure we get.
If we stay in the Premier League, millions of people see us play football. If we won the FA cup and got relegated, half the football watching world will have forgotten about that and us in a couple of year’s time.
We need to stay here for as long as possible so that kids watching us now become adults who remember nothing other than Wigan being one of the country’s top sides.
I doubt many of your Preston supporting mates were around when they last won the cup, and they’re clinging to it because they have f’ck all else to gloat about since they were relegated in the 60s.
I’d rather be talking about our recent games against Man Utd and Arsenal than when we won the FA Cup in 1938!
Does anyone really talk now about our cup final appearance in 2006? OK we lost but even so, it’s just a one off nice feeling that stays with you short term.
We need to keep in this league to become more established, have some seasons were we don’t have a relegation fight and watch the gap between championship and premiership get wider and wider has more money is thrown at the top league teams. If in years to come we do get relegated, we will have such a healthy, wealthy club that getting back to the top league, whilst not being guaranteed, will give us a massive advantage over the “better” championship teams.
Having said all that there is no reason why we can’t go for both rewards. Giving fringe players some well needed game time has been fairly productive so far, with the fact that Golobart has taken his chance and put himself in the mix for a place in the first team, at 20 years of age.
It has also shown, that other players are nowhere near ready to take the next step up, even though given time they may still do at some point. :)

What a journey! No one appears to have thought about the financial side of relegation ( you’ll have to excuse me if they have – I don’t read all posts any more, it’s too depressing). If we are relegated, we will lose the Premier League millions and will have to cut our cloth accordingly. Our income in the Championship would not sustain even a half-decent team, especially when the band-waggoners go back to Old Trafford, Anfield or the armchair. This would probably mean us fighting relegation again but this time in a lower division. People who think that we would be walking all over inferior opposition had better think again.
Unless ………….. David Whelan bank-rolled us all over again. If I was him though, I wouldn’t even consider it after reading some of the malicious and ill-informed nonsense posted on here over the years.
PS I know there are parachute payments but they won’t last forever.
one of us did actually think of the financial loss, this is what I said earlier in the thread;
” I can read your post a million times sunshine but it will still insinuate the same thing. Firstly you wouldn’t mind us going down cos we will be more competitive and therefore win more games. Presumably hoping that we win enough games to be back in the same league and plight we are in now, with just a one year break and more importantly, missing out on the money of “warchest” proportions that teams will get in the prem league next season.” B)

What a journey! If he plays the fringe players, and they progress through, will he play the first choice eleven in the QF?
What if we somehow we get to the final using the 2nd string players, would he play those that got us there.
It would be strange to see a reserve side trying to compete in the FA Cup Final? You’ll never win anything by playing kids……….oh hang on a minute…

What a journey!I read and understood his post first time thank you very much and I don’t need people like you coming on and trying to patronise me. Hope that’s cleared that up. B)
No you didn’t but I’ve give up trying to simplify it for you as others have also tried, thanks fellas but believe what you like fat fan, I’m happy to agree to disagree.
When you say others you really mean D/S’s, that’s plain to see. The only resemblance to something “simple” in this post is you my friend. Like you say lets agree to disagree, but I hope to god your dream scenario doesn’t come to fruition and you are left simply watching just 19 home games for many years to come.
And if I am watching Only 19 for many years then there is a fair chance were winning a few of them.
Agreed! B)
