After reading those comments about digging in and not trying to pass round them I had to chuckle to myself.
How ironic is it, that the few teams that beat chelsea do it by playing football and passing round them. OK these teams have top quality players who in the main are man for man better than ours, but the methodology is still the same.

I personally would like to see us develop the passing game getting the odd hammering by the top four teams than being labelled just a gutsy little team out to kick and stop teams playing. We saw some woeful displays against the top 4 teams under Jewell and Bruce and guess what, apart from the draw at Liverpool and the cup win at home to Arsenal we still lost every game.

Bobby has a plan, yes for once one of our mangagers actually has a plan and is hell bent on making it work. OK it will take time to get it to the standards he wants but the Villa game was proof that it can work and more importantly work with these players.

So as fans of Wigan Athletic Football Club, lets not get this mentality that Bobby has already recognised in the players and wants to change, i.e. being beaten before the first whistle has been blown.

I used to do a similar one but it involved Cliff Richard singing his famous hit “T-its and fanny”

For what its worth Gomez got 8/10 in NOTW. I would have awarded him 3/10 in first half and 7/10 in second. What I will say, is for the first time in ages, we have a player who can win dubious free kicks to help take the momentum out of the game when we needed it.
I counted at least 4-5 times in the last 10 mins that he “fell” to the ground and won a free kick, just as wet spam looked like putting us under pressure.

Give the bloke time FFS he has only played 5 games in the prem, I saw a big improvement in Scotland yesterday on previous outings, these two may actually do us a job this season.

I think you have got Thomas mixed up with Diame stmatts. Diame was the player who ran over every blade of grass on the pitch, put some great passes in, showed he had some trickery in his armoury, polaxed parker with a superb timed tackle and broke down play at every opportunity, drove forward when he could and hardly missed a header.
Thomas was the one hanging around the centere circle for most of the game looking to go sideways and backwards all the time. Did a job mind you, but MOM?, you have definitely got a touch of the mistaken identities mate.

Do you not remember the springfield park days when out of the 2000 and odd fans on the ground, only about 700 were still on at 4:45pm all gathered like sheep at the side of the phoenix ready to run down the steps and down first avenue.

I loved the first season in the prem just as much as I loved the first season in the league. I made sure I watched every game home and away that first season even the cup matches. It cost me fortune, but boy was I proud and still am that we are in the best leaguer in the world.

As people get older they seem to think that things were better in the old days. I remember watching a wigan ammy league match a few years ago thinking jeesh there not a patch on the players and teams that played when I was in my prime, such as Bethel, Ince Parish, Wigan Youth etc.,but sadly theyre probably are a lot better.

You are falling into the same catagory forggetting that for every exciting game against Tranmere there were 2 or 3 boring, shyte 0-0 draws against the likes of Scarborough, Mansfield, Lincoln and Aldershot.

FFS live the dream and be proud to live it. The standard of football is better, the grounds are better, we see more fans in one game than we used to see in one season for christ sake.

Posters like you honestly make me feel physically sick. :(

I reckon he’s already done the damage, Figgy [as you call him] has not been the same player this season. I think he’s doin a Zacky and letting all the hype get to him. :x
