Perhaps the fans that are ‘Kicking off’ are more passionate than the easily pleased brigade and that they don’t want to see their club going in the wrong direction?
…and perhaps the fans not “kicking off” are those who go week in week out and would watch and get behind um if they got thrashed every week. It’s Wigan Athletic I support, not a manager, or players or Chairman. Its been my team since a young lad and it will be my team when I die. I leave the grounds moaning about how crap they have been then wipe the slate clean for the next match.
The demise of our crowds from when we were in the top flight says everything about our fans particularly the young ones who have tasted nothing but success.I’m certainly not happy with our current predicament and would love to see WJ turn things around, but if any of you think that by sacking WJ it will solve our problems, then think again boys.
Having managed people all my working life, folk are great at finding problems and faults, but not that good at finding solutions. You all have a right to have a moan so carry on if it makes you feel better, but just remember the “Lightside” are in a win, win, win, win situation. If WJ stays and turns it around we’ll be happy, if WJ is potted and a new manager comes in and turns it around we will be happy, if WJ stays and gets us relegated we will look forward to next season, if a new manager comes in and gets us relegated we will Look forward to next season.
One thing that is guaranteed, is if we lose Satdy, the serial moaners will be falling over themselves to be the first to start a doom and gloom thread, I will guess it will happen at 4:56pm.
If we do lose, I’ll check it when I get home from Ewood about 5:45pm.
The superfan has been coaxed out of his hiding hole! As I see it, most if not all the fans moaning as you say go to the games so don’t try that old chestnut, have you not heard of smartphones ? Blind faith is what you have just described and if you are quite happy for ‘Your Club’ as you put it to wallow in the lower leagues with fuck all money and a danger of actually going to pot one day then you are more stupid than you actually come across!
Hey up Phil, I’ve hit a nerve there!! Super Fan, why I thank you sir, I don’t see myself as one but thanks anyway.
I have heard of smart phones and have one myself, however at 4:56pm I’ll probably be stood clapping my team off or having a piss. I definitely wont be rushing to find a signal to post on CL. Still if you or others get a cheap thrill from it, carry on buddy. To quote an old poster who no longer frequents the board, “There is nothing like trying to make a fool of someone and looking the real fool yourself”
Go on then I’ll check my watch at final whistle and see how long it takes till the first moan post. I’ll guarantee that it won’t be from anyone who has been to the match.By the way Phil I hope you are going, its only 25 mins down the 65 for you.
It’s 20 mins actually but I’ll be gigging this weekend so no I ain’t going! Thought it was Sammy who came out with the fool thing, water off a duck’s back either way and I don’t use phone to post ( far too small and fiddly for my eyes! ) As for the clapping team off against Forest, you must have been in a minority there then! Every single person I could hear coming off the ground was saying how shit it had been and that it’s getting worse but you thought they deserved clapping off ! Another corker right there !
When did I say I clapped the team off at after the Forest game? As soon as the whistle went I shot up to the concourse steps looking for a quick get away, I do this at every home game. Was my reference to clapping not for the coming Blackburn game?. Another attempt at trying to be clever and ballsing it up. I’d leave it at that Phil and have an early night. :P
Not much of a super fan then after all! So you never clap the lads off at home then? You just leg it! You’re no better than me man ! ;) In fact, contrary to popular belief I do actually stay till the end of games that hang in the balance and clap at the end so maybe I am the better home fan and you are the better away fan, unless you are taking a piss instead and then again, you are no better than me! ;)
You are there again Phil, were did I say I didn’t clap after the whistle blew at the Forest game ? I can actually clap and run, however, whether I did or didn’t I haven’t yet indicated, hence you are making assumptions.
You are not doing very good job with this discussion are you Phil.
You couldn’t beat Griff and you can’t beat me, you are not intelligent enough! Clapping whilst running away? Very sincere mate, very sincere! As for my assumption, not really an assumption is it when I can quote you as saying…..”When did I say I clapped the team off at after the Forest game? As soon as the whistle went I shot up to the concourse steps looking for a quick get away, I do this at every home game.”
You are meeting yourself coming back mate, I have bamboozled you into a state of confusion! ;)
Are you a total numpty or what? I’ve two choices, stand there clapping the team and 30 seconds later get behind 500 people making their way down to the concourse, or do I use my initiative and get to those steps quick and boooosh away! At away games I’m usually on the supporters coach, so no rush, comprende? .
Keep reading my posts back in this thread, you still don’t know if I clapped them off after the Forrest game do you?. :lol:I couldn’t beat Griff could I not, beat him at what exactly? I have no intention of beating anyone including you. You must have one large inferiority complex, so I’ll stop posting on this thread and you can pretend that you’ve have beaten me.

What a journey! Can’t see a problem with people moaning or the happy clappers it’s about you and what you think is the right thing to do at the time. Football is about opinions, so if you don’t like other fans views opinions etc. It’s probably you who needs to stay away. There’s moaning and serial moaning, that’s my problem. The club, manager and chairman can’t do anything right in some posters minds, just browse through some posts following a game.
All goes quiet on here when we win, that’s the laughable bit. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Personally, I would not have sacked Gary Caldwell; since last season he quickly learned by his mistakes and turned it around. So sacking was premature IMO.With Joyce, I have given him the benefit of the doubt until recent decisions on substitutions, transfer targets, tactics and excuses.
At least Gary Caldwell admitted when he got it wrong or the team underperformed; whereas Warren appears to hide behind excuses. Example: Gary never once blamed the pitch ! fact !
Or should we ( lifelong Tics maniacs ) bury our head in the sand without a protest ?
Rant continues: what would have happened if we had not voiced our discontent towards Bill Kenyon ?I agree with your Gary Caldwell comment, if Sharpy had waited just one more game, the Cardiff victory might have just swayed him to keep him a bit longer.
However, there’s being in the shit and BEING IN THE SHIT. Nothing can compare to what our club went through in BK’s era, but it made most of the fans from that era into what we are now. Happy to take the good times and resolute to get through the bad times.

What a journey!Howdy JR,See my comment from earlier in this post:
Apart from a little boo at the end of Saturdays match, our fans have given the team plenty of vocal encouragement and displayed a lot of patience with the Managers tactics. We should have pushed on for a winner in the last 15 mins against Nob End, and we were crying out for a winger to feed the two forwards ( yes two ) against Forest. WJ is paid a decent wedge to see and resolve these issues. By comparison some of our fans are paid a pittance and so I think they are allowed to voice their opinion, especially after having spent their hard earned cash watching negative boring football then listening to a plethora of excuses. Now I normally respect your opinion and see you as one of the more rational posters on here.
In your managerial career, I am pretty sure than you would have regular one to one’s with your staff and also present them with opportunity to also give you feedback. Well, for whatever reason, Mr Joyce has just ducked his one to one with the Latics fan base and denied them the opportunity. Frankly, it’s either piss poor or stinks; so I can understand the increasing level of discontent. Much more respect if you face the baying mob head on ( in my managerial experience. Even if your big toe is in plaster ).
Yes your right about the one to ones and giving staff the opportunity to provide feedback, however if they are knocking on my office door 5-6 times a day 5 days a week moaning about everything that doesn’t go their way I would class them as deadwood and look to fire um off.
You have taken my post too literally, it was merely a way of getting my point over that some posters constantly berate the team, manager, chairman and even the previous chairman but can’t offer any alternatives. Get rid of Yootha and thats it.
At the Forrest game some fans boo’d the team at ht, when Bogle came off and at full time. I was really down beat, but I never boo its childish IMHO. By the time I got to the car I was thinking, how far have we come when the Wigan Athletic team and manager are getting boo’d after drawing against the two time European Cup winners.I’ve honestly lost track on what some posters are moaning about its gone on that long, is it performance, results or both. If we scrap 5-6 wins on the bounce but play hoof ball would they be happy? If we play lovely passing football, creating a mountain of chances but continue losing, would they be happy?

What a journey!Wrong team selection to start with, wrong substitutions and more importantly probably the wrong choice of manager in the first place.
We are devoid of any ideas at the moment.
To sum up, we’re shite and we’re going down!!!Us football fans are the best in the world at picking teams……after the fekin match!
Everyone I spoke to today before the KO were going on about finally playing 442, two up front and finally giving the new lads a chance.
I thought individually you couldn’t say they played bad, they just lacked any creativity in their third. One pass too many, a through ball that was just too far or cut out by the skin of the defender’s boot.
Did they deserve to be boo’d? I don’t believe in doing that it just doesn’t do any good.
I really felt we needed to win today to push forward in two winnable away games over the next 10 days, now the players will be on the floor and as disappointed as the rest of us.We need to stick by um though, I’ll be cheering them on at Ewood and St Andrews, I’ll leave the cyber moaning to the usual suspects.

What a journey!Great Stadium – wrong location. The DW stadium is a good ground built on marshland. I suspect the land was quite cheap to acquire.Hull & Huddersfield don’t seem to have such a problem with their stadium – probably because whoever bought theirs paid a little bit more for a location that was suitable.
Rich folk in Wigan don’t build their family home in downtown Platt Bridge or Norley Hall. Similarly rich folk shouldn’t build sports stadiums in a swamp!
The pitch at Robin Park Arena less than 50 yards away is always in perfect condition whatever the weather. That puts the location theory out the window.

What a journey!Thirteen matches of his Latics career left. Shortsitedness is probably brought on because the lad has only been signed for a short period.
He was needed six matches ago.OK let me put it this way, if my Mrs said, right I can do two things next Christmas, I will buy you a Volkswagen Polo and you can have it on Christmas day, or, you can wait for the January sales and I’ll buy you a top of the range Merc. What do you think I would you do?
WJ arranged a behind closed doors match last week to give the new signings a bit of match practice. There is a difference between being fit and being match fit. He is doing what he can to get some extra bodies up to speed. It would be totally unfair on the new signings to get them on the field and have them blowing bubbles trying to keep tabs on the opposition or when trying to break away from their shackles.
I’ve said enough on this matter now, lets get behind them saturday, whoever wears the shirts. :cheer:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! Are you being serious? …who would we get to come in now, Owen Coyle?.
Sharpie will only realise he’s made the wrong choice if we go down, and we are not down yet.
I’ve just been thinking, what about us staying positive, get behind the team and manager saturday and help them get the 3 points.
Sorry if it seems a ludicrous suggestion, I’ll fully understand if you give me some negative karma and don’t do as I suggest.PS Beat Forrest on saturday and we are just one win behind them, oh fek I’m being positive again, I’ll give my head a wobble.

What a journey!
Pointless signing so far…..what about last 20 mins on Saturday ?..Jesus how unfit is he ?..Is he unfit for last 20 or is it just that Joyce craps himself if he can see a risk of us possibly grabbing 3pts ?…Hope he make me eat these words but we needed someone straight away not when it could be too late…Let’s sit back and watch it unfold…..Did he not win the corner that led to Buxton scoring the winner at Wolves? he’s come on for Grigg tonight for the last 20 mins, he’s being fed in slowly but surely.
I cannot believe the shortsightedness and lack of understanding of this situation by posters on here, posters who I don’t think are thickos. Your becoming to sound like those kids sitting in the back seat of the car during a long journey “are we there yet?”
On another note, I wish Horc and Donny would stop liking each other’s posts, its actually bordering on cringeworthy. :sick:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!JR my point is if he wasn’t fit to play when we signed him then we shouldn’t have signed him. We lost our winger and needed a winger who could contribute to saving us from relegation by playing games.Totally disagree, he is a superb signing who was wanted by better clubs than us but has done is old boss a favour. If it takes another couple of weeks to get him fit, he could play 10-12 games for us, thats a potential 36 points. Course he should have signed him and yes he will fill the void that Yannick left. I truly hope that he makes a better impact than our friend has made at Norwich, their fans are saying he is not fit and can’t get round a man.
