… great to get one back on this lot as thought we were robbed up at their place
Spot on Fella; robbed more than once, I may add. Remember Boycey getting sent off at Newcastle and he was 2 yards away from any tackle ! Think lee MCCulloch was sent off for now’t the year before. The crowd at St James park constantly hassle the the officials. Maybe for once we got a homer of a ref; makes a nice change !
Anyone else hear him say (when being interviewed) about the possibility of latics reaching the challenge cup final. I didn’t know whether or not to laugh or :angry:Err, wasn’t that what they called it in’th owden days ?
Today was a real throwback to the good old days of being a Latics fan. When nobody gave us a chance and we then went and stunned the football world with a breathtaking performance. The whole team today were sensational and it really brought back home to me what being a Wigan fan has always been about. The bigger diversity we face the more this incredible club thrives.40 yrs ago Wigan Athletic lost to Scarborough 2-1 in extra time in the F A Trophy final at Wembley and as a youngster I was heartbroken. They have more than made it up to me since and out of the 40 odd years ive been a fan I can honestly say that not that many times have they let us the fans down.We may be struggling and we may go down but for what this wonderful club has given me in all those years means that I would have to be a complete and utter moron to start bellyaching and slagging them off.Today we went back to being the old Wigan Athletic and boy do I feel good tonight.Like galac has said so proud of the lads today.Well put Ste !
Ah the FA Trophy Final – I was a youngster too. Cried with joy when my hero Johnny Rogers got the equaliser. But we were still being cheated then; we were denied a clear penalty when Mickey Worwick ( I think ) beat the monstrous fat Bert Garrow in nets, only for his shot to be saved on the line by their winger ( Dick somebody or other ) who dived and stopped a certain goal with his hand. Still got the picture from behind the nets in my scrapbook in the attic. Those were the days. PS how many times have the Latics appeared at Wembley ?Don’t they have to play for 3rd & 4th place, next Friday before the final on Sunday ?
Scharner will probably be doing Tequila Slammers at the bar with Jefferson Montero, this very moment !
Sorry, Henriquez.
Thought we had used up our loan allocation, with Hernandez & Myaichi ?
Memories flooding back Ali.Once a regular ground on our list.
Aye: Doc Martins ( polished like fcuk ) & Ben Sherman with your blue & white scarf trailing down the right leg of your Levis that sported neatly sewed turn ups. Kids are just not that smart these days !
Back on the terraces then !
Proper day out !Save your money; he’s only 5 ft 7 inches tall !
Do you think he’ll be focused if he signs for Wigan ?
Who’s the ref for the manure game on Weds? :evil:Enjoy the game !
Think I’ll go to the preview on Tuesday !
at long last in the bottom three lets hope its the final places after 38 games played. goodpost goodpost goodpostKnob !
Winston White (ex-Latics)PS. not intended to be racist (just ‘amusing’)
Or how about the diametrically opposed TONY BLACK !
Still like ANDREW WAYNE KERR ( in a Cockney Latic accent ); think he was on Celtics books.
For me, two players ( guess who ) and our Manager basically lost us the chance of a place in the last eight.
I’ll take a wild guess LHL, Jones and Gomez??
Boselli & Stam weren’t too sparkling either.
I thought Watson did okay, but would have been a better bet in midfield than the two crabs mentioned above.
On a positive note at least Martinez should now realise that we are short of competent back up players should injuries/suspensions hit us.
Bet we weren’t the only two who came to the same conclusion !
