you lot keep believing the spin on offer , and attend the regular sermons down at the dw citadel to reaffirm your worship of all things spanish, me i will take the more pragmatic route and watch without my rose tinted specs and prepare for the ensuing disaster.

You are a happy soul, aren’t you? Can’t think why you even bother to watch Wigan.

Do you think we are all stupid and only you can see that things are not perfect at the moment?
Scratch that, you clearly do.

Some of us just prefer to be a bit more positive.
i presume you said that tongue in cheek, please explain the positives to me after a 9-1 defeat,

oh my god i have just realised you are actually one of martinez’s disciples,i know there are 12 of you but your the first one i have actually come across in the cyber flesh so to speak.
beware though griff one of your lot will soon aquire 30 pieces of silver and betray you all.

Roberto must have something, because Sir Alex wanted him to be his number 2 last year.

We are very lucky to have someone in charge with genuine affection for the club. Not many other clubs, if any, can say that.

The new style was always going to take some time to implement.

oh yes

if fergy would have truly asked martinez to jump in bed,do you honestly believe he would not be there now.

What, self-supporting like Ferguson/Benitez, for example?

You might be right, you might be wrong but which one of that bunch is fannying about on an internet message board rather than working on a premier league training ground this morning?

this whole debate started about kenny swain and questioning his ability, and he will be on some training ground this morning earning a good living despite the generally held view in wigan that he should be “fannying about on an internet message board” .

not one person in professional football has any respect for those who have not been lucky enough to be part of their select little club,in fact they treat everybody outside with utter disdane,so by quoting the managers you did it suggests that they are correct and i am wrong, tell me once in the whole history of football has one manager ever come out and said about another “he is not very good at his job” so you are asking me to respect their opinions in this instance ?

does anyone think we may be having this conversation in the future about
the spanish ‘style guru’ and his pretty play ?

no not at all, bob needs time to work his magic instead of idiots jumping on the bandwagon shouting for his head.Lets go back to when dw 1st took over and we had a new manager every month.Read bobs book he is no mug he his a very clever man and as i have said before when pj 1st took over things wernt that good.
i aint jumping on no band wagon, i stated on here after the st mirren friendly that the team & tactics i watched that day would get us relegated and nothing i have seen so far has changed,in fact it has strengthened my belief, and “bob” will not get chance to “work his magic” before the bard of barbados slits his throat.

and i add again when that day comes

Not according to Ian Holloway, Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp, to mention just three who seem to hold the opposite view to you. ;)
well they must be right then musnt they, but i wouldnt trust anything that any member of the most insular, self supporting, closed shop fantasy world that managers inhabit has to say about one of their bretheren .
you seem to be in the same camp though as you pick me up on everything i ever say it seems.

no matter what martinez is doing in his crusade to bring “beautiful football” to the masses, time will tell who is right.

i stated it before and i will say it again MR RUTHLESS will sack martinez despite his affirmation of the second coming of the messiah.

in reply to: Let us all give Judas Bruce some stick. #13869

Well its Sunderland on Saturday at New Springfield and the visit of double Judas Bruce. Hope everyone can get down to get behind the team. After freak results like last Sunday we should show the idiots in the press who loved the result that it didnt make F all difference to us. It was freak result and at the end of the day we dropped three points and thats what we expected from the match and nowt else.
I dont know if any one else feels the same but this Premier League Journey is a bit of a bore. We only expect to win ten or so games and then we are safe so thats seems to be the be all and end all of everything. We cant even look forward to a cup run because of the weak squad we are bound to put out.
The squad are mainly mercenary journeymen and some of the rubbish Bruce signed which we got stuck with dont add to the excitement
But hey after that result last week we should all get our Latics hats on and get behind our club like no other time. In fact wouldnt it be great if we could kick the establishment in the teeth and make it the best gate of the season. Song for Satdy could be 9 1 BUT WE WERE ROBBED. 9 1 BUT WE WERE ROBBED 9 1 BUT WE WERE ROBBED and anything in the world to slag Bruce off. Geoff Davies will be there. A great diving header against Peterborough. Now that was an exciting time.

Freak result ?

like the freak results v blackpool, man u, arsenal, portsmouth,we wont mention the games v wolves or hull where they would have had a panfull if they were any good, include the spurs game and i think you may find out of 14 competetive games we have played we have been murdered in half of them,i think if you change that freak result comment to the villa and chelsea games you may be getting nearer the truth
.
who are these players bruce has us stuck with then, kapo,de ridder, king, kingston perhaps ? yes bruce made some poor signings but tell me a manager that doesnt.
lets talk about martinezs signings then – scotland, gomez, amaya, mccarthy,
sinclair ,in fact martinez has made only one decent signing diame, remember thomas was one of bruce’s

in reply to: Players and manager #13663

diame and thomas are to much alike, both holding midfielders they operate to far away from the front man …

That’s where they are supposed to play. This formation, favoured by Liverpool and Real Madrid amonsgt others, is about having two holders with the other midfielder (in our case, at the moment, Scharner) getting further forward and linking with the two wide midfielders and the lone striker.

So, in fact, you have pointed out that they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. :D Now, obviously, they should get forward at times too and I think they have – I am not talking about Sunday here, I haven’t seen it yet.

Then again, if you saw plenty sublime passes last season then you and I must be watching different football entirely. ;)
liverpool are in a bigger mess than us at the moment because of their inept manager, so thats no endorsment of that style of play, and real madrid may get away with it in spain ,but then again despite spending 200 million quid in the summer are not breaking any pots, most teams play with one holding midfielder, thomas and diame only tackle  and dont create anything and DONT link up with either wide men or striker, leaving a massive gap which the opposition just push into and stiffle the rest of our play by pushing us back ,exactly what rednapp said in his post match interview on sky,
and as far as your other point i didnt say anything about sublime passing on its own,i said the displays of pace, power and yes passing was sublime at times, and i will quote just a few of the games that “last season you and I must be watching different football entirely”

west ham away 2-0 down after 20 mins and battered them for the rest of the game, chelsea home losing after 3 mins then again murdered them for 87 +and the loss away at liverpool 3-2 was the best performance i have ever seen by a wigan athletic side,we even came away from spurs with a 0-0 draw fealing cheated unlike yesterday, these are the ones i remember.

it wasnt perfect, but at times was as good as anything i saw from the top sides and we never got stuffed like we are doing REGULARLY now.

this manager, his formations and ideas, but more so his dogmatic commitment to playing how he believes without trying something different will see us relegated and make no bones about it whelan will sack him eventually next year despite what he says now,

this leads me to another point i have made in the past,

so i will ask again what are whelans future ambitions to wigan athletic ?
even though he again rants about edman or bruce’s signings on sky, he must shoulder much of the blame for this debacle.

in reply to: Players and manager #13642

diame and thomas are to much alike, both holding midfielders they operate to far away from the front man leaving massive gaps, the spanish ones reaction to this is to play scharner in front of them in the creative role, this is the same scharner who everybody(except martinez it seems)knows is not good enough to play there and should be playing where the inept boyce is playing, but the alternitive is gomez, god help us.

everybody can blame whoever they like for yesterday, but the buck has to stop with one person ,
i said on this board after watching his team and tactics during the pre-season v st mirren that we were in for a difficult season, and got cried down by all the ‘love martinez brigade’,and please dont give me that pretty to watch football c r a p,

some of the football played under bruce last season was the best i have ever seen a latics team play, power, pace and yes passing was at times sublime and we never got stuffed once unlike the blackpool, arsenal, prtsmouth, man u and now spurs games.
if you think this rubbish we are being served now ,30 side way passes then a long diagonal ball is good, god help us.

mark my words we are in a worse position now than what we were under chris hutchings 2 years ago,and whelan said he needed to act to preserve our premiership status, now we will see if his ambitions have changed(something else i have said on more than one occasion on this board and got cried down again)

in reply to: Goal difference is a factor at both ends of the pitch…. #13626

im glad you think boyce is better than scotland up front, because if i had my way he would never play again in defence, edman was bad but that is down to hardly playing for 2 years added to a distinct lack of pace, but yesterday boyce showed exactly what he is,a poor defender, bruce who was a top class defender when he played only used him now and again, says it all really.

in reply to: pre season friendlies #12734

unless the spanish fellow bucks his ideas up the only places we can look foward to playing at next year are the championship venues.

in reply to: Marlon King…… #11604
Is he officially our worst ever striker ?
£5m and only one goal to show for it; and that was a penalty at Blackburn that only just dribbled inside the post !

king may have been bad but from what i saw of him and what i have seen from scotland i think king has more chance of doing well for us in the next 18 months than scotland has.

in fact after giving it a little thought , scotland and gomez may be the next 2 jailed,

there must be some offence for impersonating a premiership footballer.
